I can think of no less defensible place in Condor than the L shaped pipe. So why then, do I need to invariably go rescue someone from it, get trapped there myself, and find the whole team down there in gold?
For that matter, why is the tactically excellent top never used? I don't buy the nonsense about ammo boxes not being available, everyone can hit the one on the side of the ramp or by the Mako and make it back to the top before the next wave.
I also see the middle bunker being used, which has no less than three entry points to a small area and is a great way to get spanked from behind facing either direction.
On that note I question Turian bunker pre-fab manufacturers.
So help me understand, why do we never use the excellent top, nearly always use the questionable middle (wide spread, mind you) and invariably go to the L pipe to die?
Help me understand this, folks. Why do we congregate in the wrong part of Firebase: Condor?

Agreed. Have often seen the same. Not just on Gold too. All difficulties (although on Bronze it doesn't matter). I keep rezzing ppl as Infiltrator and say I'm out of this death trap...

I quit out of games where people do that.
Start at the top and work your way down....that's how I like to roll through condor.
If it's not a FB White match, I'm not holding the line.
I like to actually move around and have fun.

That L pipe is horrible against anybody that has range capabilities if they spawn at the top. of the hill. I personally say the top of the hill is the best area. Two entries, both of which you have the upper ground.

B/c that's where the hack objective usually is.

I find that in most Bronze and Silver games, players tend to want to camp in the middle of the map. Whether it's at the top of the ladder adjacent to the ramp and corridor in White, the side of the wall opposite of where you insert in Giant, the near side of the central depression in Ghost, the lowest level of the "fort" with the vehicles in Condor - whatever. I can never understand why anyone - and especially the whole team - would choose to "bunker down" in an area where the only direction from which you can't ne shot is the direction the cover you're pressed against is facing.

The best way to play that map is to roam it as a sqaud, not camp out anywhere, imo.

I detest the pipe area; complete death trap.
Ok silver/bronze you can have one/two people poeitioned to catch them at a right angle coming uphill.
Gold, it's suicide.
Always make sure I start the wave in the top fort with the boxes, to cancel any spawns there. Most waves you can just hold the hill top (unless banshees or objectives or something).

People don't think. People just do what they've been told works. That's why everyone is farming geth gold on firebase white all the time. Those people just don't know that you can farm firebase glacier just as easy.
And that's also why most people suck on condor. Nobody told them what to do, so they just stupidly run around the map. If you want to change that, just bragg about your games loud enough and if you're lucky, it might catch on.
Other than that, bunkering down is not always the best and definitely not the only valid strategy. But it sure as hell is the most boring.

It could be worse, I've seen people try to hold the spawn point with its one exit and minimal cover.

I find the spawn area to be a decent place to hold. Enemies come from the right and left or from the balcony, where they can easily be sniped. Other than that, I stay atop the hill. That pipe area is horrible, but the thing is, I am pretty much forced to hold it with everyone else unless I want to get killed on my own.

I always head to the top area, but no one ever follows. This is why I absolutely despise condor, because I often get people that never stick together either. They will just run all along the middle of the map and die repeatedly.

Even the top position isn't very good there is very little effective cover. I usually just run and gun on this map.

Depends on your team composition I would say.
The highground and the initial spawn are both very defendeble positions.

I've never stayed anywhere except for the top. Whoever is going to that pipe is obviously smoking something.

I've only win on the map at the bottom L. Doesn't work against reapers though. Up top you get overrun even more easily and there's little cover.

In the end it's a toss up between "mobile death squad" or "king of the hill", or some combination between the two.
Hacking objectives is where it usually falls apart, and requires more thought than usual.

Well the one time I saw people try to hold the spawn they were constantly cornered and killed. I usually stay in the area with middle height with a lot of cover that's to the left of the top of the hill when facing out. I only play my infiltrator on Condor so I can stay alive solo, its the one level I'll stray from the group since I refuse to hold the L shape. I also refuse to revive the people that go down there although I'll get them if they go down anywhere else on the map. People usually get the idea before the end of the match.
