You know what's worst than wiping? Waiting for the game to load AFTER your party dies! You may not mind it, but an adventerous person such as myself (playing on nightmare with random builds), who's wiping on boss pulls leaves me very frustrated. Frustrated enough to post this thread!

--

Post#1: Since you're playing on nightmare, why don't you turn down the difficulty on hard?!

I could do that and I know it saves alot of time, but the feeling of satisfaction when my character does his finishing move on that bloody boss (hell, even on the most difficult of pulls) isn't the same on hard difficulty!

Post#2: LOL you're wiping on nightmare? I have a party full of naked melee and I breeze through it! KEKE!!

Good for you, but the fact that the load times last as long as 30-60 seconds with frequent wipes can add to hours of frustration!

Post#3: 30-60 seconds? Get off the gutter and buy a better computer!

I'm guestemating on the length of the load time, and I play the PS3 version.

--

I've played all the Monster Hunter for the PSP and the load times for the game has gradually decreased for each expansion. Why? Because the developers noticed that this is a problem and found solutions to fix the problem. How? The game loads as you walk from point A to point B, significantly reducing the load time. The same case also apply to Uncharted 2 (That's what I heard anyways); you never see a load screen once as you go on Drake's little adventure!

I know it's not fair for me to compare these two games to DA:O, but I'm just letting you guys know about this issue at hand. The game is great and I'm really addicted to it (about to finish my second character through), but I hope this issue is to be fix on your guys' next installment.

Don't you think it's best to lower the difficulty if you're having trouble and getting frustrated?

I mean, this is a singleplayer game...it's not the end of the world if you learn to play the game on a lower difficulty and then do a Nightmare run later.

You're just causing frustration for yourself, and then coming onto the forums and complaining about it.

There's your problem right there.

Seriously though. On PC there is a memory leak. When Ram gets full and it starts swapping "ugh", I just shut down, wait a minute, then start up again. problem solved.

Memory leak does need to be fixed, though.

Had the same problem - also used disk cleanup once on PC after the restart and that helped a bit. :innocent:

You can't just pre-load everything, especially not on a console with so limited RAM. Get the PC version next time?

Yup, you make a good point and one of the reason I posted this thread
is because of my frustration. But, I've played the game once already
and now going through it again in nightmare difficulty. Like I said,
considering that the load times take at least 30 seconds, add constant
wipes, equals hours of frustration. The only ones being punished are the
daring who are persistant with the nightmare difficulty.

You can't just pre-load everything, especially not on a console with so limited RAM. Get the PC version next time?

I bought the PS3 version because my computer is obsolete :(
I guess I gotta give the devs some slack, considering that they are working with the PS3, something foreign to them I guess.

Same here, stupid memory leak. By the time I finish the game in 50 hours, I would have restarted the game 50 times. You do the math.B)

Developers are right! The game is worth 100 hours!

:P I don't mind to restart time to time or just play slow - I enjoy more talks and character
stuff than all slaughter and mayhem - though slaughter and mayhem is fun time to time.

How many times does it need to be repeated: it's not a question of hardware, it's a software problem. Initial loads are extremely fast and get incrimentally worse.

PC user here and its definitely an issue: I get a considerably longer load whenever I leave the indoors of Orzammar or Denerim trying to exit back into the "main area" of the location. Otherwise though I have absouletely no other problems anywhere else, I definitely think there is some issue. Although it does sound as if the console port of the game is having some serious issues..are the loading times ALWAYS that slow? Even on a fresh gaming session?.

But besides all that, the longer the software is running for me [3 hours+], the longer the load times in general gradually do become: quick fix for pc is to just shut off  DA:O and relaunch which takes all of 20-30 seconds TOPS..seems like that would be waaay more annoying for consoles though

I do get where you are coming from with nightmare though, arguebly the most annoying fight that I had to reload four or five times for was that damn spider queen bish near a certain dwarf quest :crying:

Sorry but in denerim the loading times are even larger than the first edition Witcher and that to anyone who has played the NON enhanced edition should speak volumes.

Oh before you speak about the gaming rig we play the game off.

Intel core i7 920
6GB  DDR3 1333Mhz
HD Radeon 4870 1GB
Raptor 80GB 10k RPM

You mean we need a better system to run this game off? No...there is something wrong with the games codes at that level and it makes loading times unnaturally long.

Your entire PC just has 80GB? Get another Raptor and then you can keep your games on one drive and that'll keep them away from the OS and everything else you have installed. Load times will be much quicker.

I forgot to say that its a double 80GB raptor. One for the OS and one for the little games we have. Suffice to say that the system is this and the loading times are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG  after a sesion of 1.5 - 2 hours or in the inside invironments like Denerim and Orzammar. Its not my system considering that even the Witcher loading times are much faster (except the first one).

I can monitor the thing even. It starts off normally and it gets worse as i play the game. There is deffinately something wrong.

I have an Intel X25-M SSD, and the load times are ridiculous. They are very fast to start, but once you've traveled through a dozen areas, they slow to a crawl.

Oops? Sorry, no, I didn't mean that. But I've got some 300+ hours into this game and I haven't faced such long loading times, even alt-tabbing, editing my DA movies for the tube, going back to the game, etc. Maybe I'm just lucky. But if it is a tech issue it should be addressed by Bioware ASAP! I don't think 1.02 helped, did it? This plus the stand alone CC deleting the whole Dragon Age folder if "keep saved chars" is not marked when uninstalling, or deleting the whole screenshots folder and keybinding.ini file when uninstalled, should definitely be addressed!

I have a high end PC and after playing for a while loading times get ridiculously long.

So after playing for a couple of hours I made a habit of making a save and restart the game.

(and no my disks aren't fragmented or anything like that - i7-920 cpu, 12 GB ram and a 10k rpm drive).

30-60 second load times? Quit your whining and consider yourself lucky.
