Take a chill pill mate.

Some of us are just pointing out that there might be a problem with prolonged loading times after playing for a while, which could indicate a memory leak or someting.

I started playing DA:O on my previous Dual-Core rig. Yes, when playing on that PC the load times were long, approaching a minute in some cases.

My new rig has a Quad-Core CPU and 2GB more RAM. Load times are in scant seconds now.

I bought the PS3 version because my computer is obsolete :(

My computer is obsolete, a single core 2ghz
Still seems to run better then a lot of people for reasons I simply do not understand.

Sorry but in denerim the loading times are even larger than the first edition Witcher and that to anyone who has played the NON enhanced edition should speak volumes.

Oh before you speak about the gaming rig we play the game off.

Intel core i7 920
6GB  DDR3 1333Mhz
HD Radeon 4870 1GB
Raptor 80GB 10k RPM

You mean we need a better system to run this game off? No...there is something wrong with the games codes at that level and it makes loading times unnaturally long.
.

Strange I have a similar rig to you, just moderately overclocked yet have no slow downs what so ever. Which OS do you use?

My rig:

i7 d0 920 @ 4Ghz
6GB Corsair DDR3 1512Mhz
ATi Radeon 5850
HD is a WD Caviar  320Gb

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Guess it looks like you'll have to wait for the memory leak to be fixed. A strange one though as I honestly haven't seen any form of slow down on any of my saves.

I'm seeing a trend here.

I don't have slowdowns either.

Drag0n doesn't, the guy on the previous page didn't, and I don't... and we all have Win7 64-bit.

Maybe it's 32-bit OS's?

Whats the point of having double 80 gig hard drives?  Wouldn't you want one to be the 80 gig 10k raptor(for your hefty games) and the other one a 500 gig one with your OS, music, etc?

I wouldn't imagine the OS would require the faster raptor anyways.

Just wondering though because I'm a little lightly informed on how multiple hard drives are beneficial.

Chances are he is seeing a slightly quicker boot into windows with that raptor. Though personally I would guess its minimal, to take advantage of boot speeds a good quality SSD would be recommended.

Blasphemer.  You shall be cleansed by fire. (you get waffles afterwards so its okay)

You might be right tho. Either the better os is not getting the leak or there is more power under the hood that makes it less noticable or would take a longer time to get to the ill effects.

I am on a 32 bit but the only times I ran into this problem was either when I would get sidetracked and wander off to do something else leaving DA running for hours or around the dwarf city/deep roads. That area is hell and I could load a game in there and within an hour I was getting 5 minute+ loading times.

Not according to my PC. I had the slowdown with both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 installs. Everything was on max on both installs. The only thing that cured the eventual slowdown was disabling the "Persistent Gore" option. Now it works perfectly -- as opposed to constant jerkiness and ever-increasing loading times.

I agree people complain too much about things that aren't really issues, this is a real issue and you are playing defensive for no reason.

No I'm using win7 as well, maybe you guys just don't play long enough sessions to notice :)

The memory leak issue has been known for a long time. It affects just about all computer configurations, and both 32 bit and 64 bit OS and windows XP and vista and 7. The devs mentioned a while ago they're looking into it, but that memory leaks are very hard to pin down so it'll take em a while.

Wasn't the memory leak associated with persistent gore, turn it off, and things will be running normal? Haven't tried it myself though, as my load times are acceptable, even after hours of play.

At least one leak has been attributed to the "persistent gore" setting, Aezay. My ability to actually play the game after an hour or two of murderin' stands as proof that it works.

Just to chime in, I'm having no issues with load times. I've played the game on two machines:

My Main Desktop:
Core2 Quad Q9550
EVGA GTX 285
8GB RAM
X-Fi ExtremeGamer
Samsung F3 1TB 7200RPM hard drive
Windows 7 Pro x64

Friend's Desktop (over 4 years old besides video card)
Athlon X2 4200+
GeForce 9600GT
2GB RAM
M-Audio Revolution 7.1
Seagate 7200.8 7200RPM hard drive
Windows XP Pro 32-bit

Runs beautifully on both machines...load times are very short.

Post#3: 30-60 seconds? Get off the gutter and buy a better computer!

Here's your problem right there.  Try one of those new fangled computer things sometime or stop complaining.

I think it's really sad that you are complaining about 30 seconds of load time.  I remember loading up a dos based game off a TAPE drive that took an hour to load into the computer.

30 seconds of load time is fine, but you will notice the game's loading flaw when you constantly die or when you are in Denerim. Like I said before, I play the PS3 version of the game not the PC version. Also, the fact that people here also notice the loading times with their beefy computer shows that the loading length is an issue. I posted this thread to get my voice heard (mainly to whine) and give feedback to the devs.

Uhm my 3 year old daughters computer has got that beat easily by about 3 folds.  What is a "Ridiculous" load time?  I mean you kids and your instant gratification need to relax a little and stop looking at things that aren't an issue.  If the game had the memory leak people talk about the load times would be 2 minutes or more.  Thirty seconds is not that long at all.

Unfortunately for you not ALL of the players in game have this issue.  I never have a longer wait than 10-15 seconds of load time in game even when i die.  However i die so infrequently in game i cannot say that may not take a long time to load in game.  Do you happen to notice it most when you have to reload from a party wipe?

Laptops often have notouriously slow disk access times. It could be this, I guess. DA does suffer from a memory leak of some kind that begins to slow down load times. For my computer (Core Quad, 4Gb RAM, HD4870) This is only noticable in the last section of the game and during the Deep Roads.

It doesn't bother me so much but hopefully it will be fixed soon.

This is what I am wondering myself, I know the OP mentioned that he is playing on a PS3 and to me this does not sound like a memory leak if its mainly occuring after a party wipe. I think it has more to do with the ps3 laoding up all of those pretty texture details.

Now if he was experiencing ever increasing lod times with area loads as well I would say memory leak that is provided that the op's ps3 is not stuffed on the small shelf of a enclosed entertainment center with junk piled on it and around it, in which case it becomes an over heat issue which can cause the same symptoms.
