My load times rarely go beyond 5 seconds, and I have a relatively modest computer.

Due to the nature of DAO, it has to load a lot of crap into RAM. RAM just happens to be the weak point of most consoles (especially the PS3).

Load times are terrible for me. I have
a velociraptor hard drive which is the fastest thing next to an SSD, a
core I7 870, 8 gb ddr3 ram, and 2xCrossfire Radeon 5870 and I still get
terrible load times.

Then you're running too much crap in the background. Run msconfig.exe, go to Startup and services (with hide all microsoft services checked) and start cleaning out all that background BS that's eating up your RAM.
