Bioware is EA. EA owns Bioware. Bioware is a division and brand name for EA. There is no way for EA to butt out. The good doctors who founded Bioware are EA officials and therefore part of EA's upper management..TGiNcRySiS wrote...
Bioware needs DA3 to be epic especially after this and ME3. Hopefully EA butts out and Bioware gets it together.

While everything Realmzmaster said is accurate, I would say that the intent of what TGiNcRySiS wrote is also true. That is, that we can hope that when DA3 is made, it will be made with as much of the spirit of the old Bioware, and that the influence of EA will be minimal.
And it is probably for the best, that they have halted all production on further DLC content. The more time and resources they can put towards DA3, the better. DA2 was not a horrible game, but not up to the standards that those of us that played DAO and earlier Bioware fantasy RPG's have come to expect. From interviews the DA dev team have given, especially at PAX East, it is pretty obvious that they know they have to make a far better game for DA3.

You hit the nail on the head. Get back to what was great and earn back the fans you have let down. And no DA2 was not a horrible game but very far from what made DAO a top 5 RPG of all time IMO.

Or we could act like adults and not do that.Sacred_Fantasy wrote...
We should start calling BioWare as BioWareEA because that's their proper name.

BeaWare is more fitting
On topic, I thinked they moved on and start focusing on 3rd game.
I dont even think there is going to some more patches.

I saw one bitter reviewer on Amazon use "BiowEAr." I found that to be amusing.
On the topic of DA2, it's probably best that they walk away from it. I didn't hate DA2, in fact, I found it quite fun to play. However, the reasons why it falls short of the standards set by previous releases has been discussed over and over again.
I'm not optimistic about DA3. The PC version will likely force us to install Origin (which one reason why I never bought ME3, even before the ending controversy exploded).
I fear that there will also be a poorly thought out multiplayer component. EA wants everything to be multiplayer and that's a reality we just have to deal with. I just hope they don't tie it into the single player expirience like they did with ME3.

Oh ok. I am keeping my saves obviously but it surprises me that they gave up so easily. Acknowledgement of failure perhaps?

More like dropping DA2 so they can spend more time working on DA3. And I wouldn't call it a failure, especially given that failures don't, generaly, get sequals so soon, or ever.

It's not like Bioware have many options. ME3 is done. Jade Empire was a big flop (unfortunate because it was rather good for what it was) everything else belongs to someone else D&D/Star Wars.

I would not consider DA3 to be a sequel of DA2, but the sequel that DAO deserved. I would make an educated guess, that DA2 got most of its sales from people that were expecting a DAO experience, and not what they received in DA2. If the Bioware/EA DA team wants to have a chance to keep its DA fans, it cannot wait to put out a game that regains the players' trust in the franchise.

Yes DA2 is done but everyone stop this. Bioware makes good games. So one game was bad and the ending for another was bad BUT what about their other games? DA3 will be awesome otherwise they wouldnt have stopped on DA2 to make DA3 great.
Once is a coincidence, twice is a pattern.
I'm still hoping DA3 will be great, although I'd settle for good. But I'm not holding my breath either.

Yeah. Well they kept saying that DA2 was the direction they wanted to take Dragon Age. Because somehow they think that Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty where RPG's because you could buy clothing, level up in multiplayer and whatnot, so they wanted to make Dragon Age a franchise that included that crowd. And that was how DA2 came to life.
true story.

Its EA. They aren't really in the habit of creating new IP so they milk existing IP's regardless of how successful they are. Its likely cheaper to make another DA sequel than to try and have BioWare do something from scratch.

Yes but if we kill five other games and cut off their body parts that look like DA2 we can bring it back to life.
