GOG Update:
GOG.com began "Tweeting" about our little shindig yesterday using a "message" I provided to them about NWN's anniversarry and our NWPAD event. Here's the message:

"Neverwinter Nights RPG is turning 10! Join the thousands playing online to help celebrate. http://www.nwpad.weebly.com"

GOG.com has 30,000 followers on Twitter and this went out to every single one of them.  This was then picked-up and "retweeted" by 16 other followers of GOG.com (and counting, plus favorited by 7), so it has begun to spread virally to those other people's networks.  One person even responded to GOG promising to buy the game (if it went on sale, lol).  Anyway, the most important part is that when I checked the visitor stats of nwpad.weebly.com, visitor levels were running ~100/day until yesterday.....when it SPIKED TO OVER 1,000 VISITORS!

Please, follow GOG.com on twitter...find that tweet, retweet it, and favorite it.  Respond to them thanking them for support/you love the game, etc... Believe it or not, this will continue to make sure that people stay aware/interested in NWN and NWPAD.

GOG.com has committed to doing this again at least one more time, so they are showing us that they are good to their word.  Plus, they'll add it to their Facebook page, which has over 37,000 "likes".

Count this as a big win for NWN.

Done! You should really also try submitting the news and a link to NWNPAD to Slashdot, BeefJack, Kotaki, Joystiq, all of those guys.

This seems to be a hit, and I am happy to see it. TY again BTB for putting this together, and props to GOG.com for supporting it.

Correct me if I am wrong BTB, but from what I gather, although there are 10 world walker winners, there is only 1 global (cross server) prize code winner? I would still like to see there be at least 3. 1st, second, and third place winners.

Av3 already has a reward offered for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place local winners. Plus a contingency plan if this is allowed for the global winners additionally.

Good question and hopefully this can clear it up.

As far as the World Walker challenge goes, with the codes that GOG.com provided, we were able to expand the number of "winners". So, for the top 10 cross-server winners (as determined by ranking the total number of server check-ins by login during the NWPAD period (1 check-in/login/server/24 hour period), we'll be able to reward them with a NWN Diamond Download. Based on the number of participating servers, I think the max score is about 180 so we'll see how close some players get to that.

Then, the idea is that each of the 10 World Walker winners can choose a participating world in which to redeem for an in-game prize. Each winner can choose only 1 server for this in-game prize (If they redeem for a prize in AV3, they can't redeem for a prize in POTM). These in-game prizes, as your example illustrates, should scale in value based on the winner's performance (the top winner should be given something of more value than the 10th winner). This seems to be along the lines of what you outline, but with more levels. I'd rather be more inclusionary with participants given that we have the opportunity to do so.

That's the official event.

If you want to offer additional prizing to your players based on how often they check-in, feel free to do that and offer in-game prizes from that. I think it's a great idea.

As an aside, when each player redeems for an in-game prize, that server that the winner redeemed on will also get a code for a copy of NWN diamond, so there's 10 copies of NWN Diamond up for grabs for the servers as well.

Ok, that's all I needed to know. So there are 1st-10th place global winners. I will scale out local and global awards accordingly. Will likely announce it tomorrow. Thanks for the clarification BTB.

BTW, when I said it seemed to be a hit what I meant was that on day one we had 10 individuals get prize codes. And that's considering for the first 14 hrs of the event or so the chests weren't available due to a mishap (*shakes fist at the sandman. Stupid sleep. Let me sleep when I am dead). That's in addition to the 20 or so other individual logins who did not get prize codes. As I up the ante on the reward for Av3 I anticipate more of our local player base will choose to get involved.

It shoud be quite interesting. Cheers, and GL all.

Ok in light of this new info this is what Av3 is offering for local and global rewards:

For Aventia 3 Merged (Av3) we are offering 10mil xp and 12 QP for first place local winner, 9 mil xp and 11 QP for the second place winner, 8 mil xp and 10 QP for the third place winner, 7 mil xp and 9 QP for the 4th place winner, 6 mil and 8 QP for the 5th place winner, 5 mil and 7 QP for the 6th place winner, 4 mil xp and 6 QP for the 7th place local winner, 3 mil xp and 5 QP for the 8th place local winner, 2 mil and 4 QP for the 9th place local winner, 1 mil xp and 3 QP for the 10th place local winner. Also since we have multiple chests in different level locations Starting at 12:00 AM CST 6/20/12 I will be accepting 1 prize code for each location per account per 24 hour period.

For global winners, we are offering 20 mil xp (which equates to about a free lvl 200 toon on Av3) and 24 QP if the global winner chooses to redeem on Av3. 18 mil xp and 22 QP for the 2nd place global winner, 16 mil xp and 20 QP for the 3rd place global winner, 14 mil xp and 18 QP for the 4th place global winner, 12 mil xp and 16 QP for the 5th place global winner, 10 mil xp and 14 QP for the 6th place global winner, 8 mil xp and 12 QP for the 7th place global winner, 6 mil XP and 10 QP for the 8th place global winner, 4 mil x pans 8 QP for the 9th place global winner, 3 mil xp and 6 QP for the 10th place global winner. For Global server check-ins, of course still only 1 check-in per account per server per 24 hrs will be accepted as per the rules for the cross server event.

BTW I have started posting Av3's local tallys. Keep in mind these will differ from what we submit as "global" (cross server) check-ins due to the fact that only one global check-in per account, per server, per day is counted globally, but due to the fact that we have multiple chests in multiple level locations (which are changing daily usually) for Av3's local prize code tally we are accepting mutiple per day (provided they are from different chests.)

just thought i'd advertise here that dalakora plans to have a special "QOC" NWPAD chest hunt tomorrow night (24 hours from now).

QOCs are Quest Only Characters, and one of our many custom features we offer. in just a few lines, QOCs can be leveled to whatever you want so they're a quick way to build a high level party for tough adventures.

there is more detail about the system in my server's events thread.

Well so here are Av3's internal (local) tallies... Keep in mind I am accepting (locally) more than one "check-in" (aka prize code) per day provided they are from different chests in different locations. Still only 1 "check-in" per account per server per day will be accepted globally (cross server), but I thought some might find this interesting:

verd12w: 3
jman548: 1
Shadowhaunt: 3
Black Crowe: 20
Mharrold: 1
Captian Barqs:1
Zekere: 1
Xander: 6
Lazarus Magni: 1
Masterwalker: 10
Jeremy Chaos:4
WaffleNinja: 1
Zarara: 1

We still have a fairly wide open race for Av3's local winners considering how much time is left. If people are interested I could post our global tallies. I personally would be curious (and perhaps Av3's players would be as well) to see what the global winner tally is looking like...

Well so here are Av3’s Global tally as of 6/25/12:

Lazarus Magni: 1
WaffleNinja: 1
Zarara: 1
mharrold:1
zekere: 1
Captian Barqs: 1
jman548:1
verd12w: 3
Shadowhaunt: 3
Jeremy Chaos: 4
Xander: 5
Masterwalker: 6
Black Crowe: 8

I would love to see some of the other server's tallies. It might heat up the competition. People often get more competative when they can see the racer ahead of them or behind them, and it pushes them more. This is a competition after all, and the server hosts (who have access to the logs) are kinda like the announcers IMO. Are Av3 players going to take every single global prize? Or are they falling far behind? Am I or are others going to win free copies of NWN 1 and global prizes with just 1 or 2 "check-ins"? Nobody knows unless we have updates on the current standings...

P.S. Doing this might spur people to attempt to get the prize codes on more than one world per day to increase their global standings...Come on peoples, only a week left in the event... It took alot of work getting here, don't let it sputter out now...

I'm recording all my logs, but I won't have time to add them up until the end when I combine all the NWPAD check-in data. I do know I've had mostly regulars check in, with a few newcomers along the way a few times.

Our server is still running, one big continuous log file - I'll break it up into day by day pieces before I turn it in. ATM I'm not sure how many have used the chest, but I'll do a discovery and post near the end of the contest. ALL OF YOU, GO GO GO LOGIN TO PARTICIPATING SERVERS!!!

And have fun.

Be well. Game on.

The Burrow tally is still quite small ... but aside from my son (who uses my account) all the others are newcomers to the server.

NAME - TOTAL PRIZES - ONCE PER DAY (as of midnight 26th June)
Wibble Woble The Third - 3 - 2
Gelmar - 12 - 6
Deege - 7 - 5
Below The Belt - 1 - 1

so far, dalakora has a total of 5 new players that tried to log in.

1 has been on 2 times for a total of 30m before NWPAD and 2m after NWPAD started and found 0 chests
1 has been on 2 times for a total of 4m and found 0 chests
1 has been on 3 times for a total of 20m and found 0 chests
1 has been on 4 times for a total of 11m and found 0 chests
1 has been on 2 times for a total of 2h15m and found 1 chest

so, it looks like there has been 12 attempts by 5 new players to find chests and only 1 success. this leads me to believe that either:

a - i'm hiding them WAAAAY too well (quite certain i'm not)
b - players aren't reading my daily chest hunting tips on my forum thread
c - my hints aren't good enough to clue in new players

i'm leaning towards "b" myself. i can't imagine reading a clue and expecting to read a new world's journal, equip yourself, find the low level training zones, and start honestly looking for a chest in 20 minutes or less.

the only successful find has been somebody who actually put a little effort in. i think the cross-server winner will be a person who only has to put minimal effort into finding chests on servers other than his "home".

also, i hope there's a follow up to the event so we all (or at least i) can get some feedback about how "new player friendly" dalakora is.

I don't have Caenyr tally broken out yet either, but we've definitely seen some new faces around! Hoping for more, please come visit and participate in NWPAD! I'll be making my rounds to all of the great participating worlds myself, this week. Can't wait to check you out!

Well so I have been checking out some of the other servers involved in this, and I have to admit I have been blown away. Most aren't my style, I am heavy into the action servers (obviously), but wow I gotta say what some of you all have done is truly impressive, and the hard work put into the servers is definitely noticable.

Some of the big name servers might not have gotten involved in this, but the ones that have are an exellent representative sampling of NWN 1 PWs from what I have seen. I am proud, and grateful to have been a part of this.

I still think a global standing tally would be nice, and thanks wombat for posting your's, but eh... I guess flying blind is fun too. See you all at the finish line...

i would say to send them to BtB and myself.  i had originally signed up to take care of this for everyone, but i've just now realized that i'm leaving for vacation tomorrow - haha.  i will still be happy to work on them, but my tallies won't be finished until probably later in the week.

i don't know how quickly everyone wants the results to be done.  the other day when i was checking my mid-event tallies, i realized it only took 20 minutes or so to go through everything by hand.  a script should make that faster to tally everything, though.

in my wildest dreams, i would like to have the submissions in the following format:

- 1 folder containing 15 more folders.
- those 15 sub folders will be named 01, 02, 03, ..., 15
- each of those sub folders will correspond to each of the 15 NWPAD days
- the log(s) for each day will be in their correct folders

i suppose BtB should put that on his webpage or some place more "official" so everyone knows about it.  or maybe we can just PM each of the people in charge of the PWs that signed up.

Given the small size of my logs/checkins, I've been making one singular NWPAD file by extracting the prize code info from my daily logs and dropping it into one log that is chronological. Hope that is ok, but can certainly make 15 versions and edit down to a singular day if your coding will

I will post ACD's requests on www.nwpad.weebly.com. [EDIT:  complete]

Also, I was planning on posting the login account of the winners there as well as here (not the CD key, though). I think that the servers should also post the winning logins on whatever signage they used to promote the event. Anyone have any issues with displaying player public login info?  [EDIT:  I added a "winners" page on www.nwpad.weebly.com with placeholder information.  This will be the home for listing the winners and where they redeemed.]

Also, we then have the interesting challenge of validating a player to send out the download codes for the top winners. I'm thinking that one of the admins of a participating server needs to verify the winning login/cd combination of the player and then acquire an e-mail address that I can use to send the code and directions for its use.

If a winning player approaches an admin to "redeem" his winnings on your server, please let me know asap so we avoid any attempts to redeem for winnings on multiple servers by the same player. Also remember that servers who have players redeem on their for their in-game prizes also get a copy of the game to distribute to their playerbase as they see fit.

Coming into the home stretch! Congrats to everyone for their participation and hope that it was a great experience for your players and that you saw some new faces around while celebrating NWN's 10th anniversary!
