My sole survivor Shepard is going to survive. I got 100% in multiplayer just to make this happen.
My renegade Shepard is now God Emperor of the Reaper fleet. Kind of ran out of pathways my other Shepards to take, though. Oh, I miss Dragon Age: Origins.

I'm OK with Shep dying if you didn't adequately prepare, as you know, one of the 16 "different" endings... but if you did completionist playthroughs and made your galactic armada as strong as possible and engineered the Crucible to perfection, you should survive.
(And I did, so there's that. Sorry EDI and Geth. Gotta watch out for Numero Uno.)

Hmm, it's tough to say. I'd be fine with Shepard dying if it was for a good reason but if the endings stay as bleak and cruel as they currently are I'd say forget self-sacrifice, I wants my Shenko.
Edit: Voted 'no' since my answer is neither 'yes' nor 'I don't care'.

We've all had a taste of traveling the galaxy...the only way they can hold onto that would be to do something that occurred in the past, during or before Shepard's time.
I don't think I'd mind a game with Saren in it, though...

I would much prefer her not to die, obviously, but if it must be then I do wish it was a better death, perhaps with friends nearby who might know what happened and care and offer half a kind word for the saving of the entire friggin universe before I/she passes into the great void, y'know?

More than willing to die. Now the question is did I believe dying to be the only option? No. Was it the only option presented? Yes. Had they stuck to the decision formula, Shep would have interacted with the AI instead of being a follower of it and its doctrine. I expected a blaze of glory ending if it came down to death, not a lukewarm nodding my head yes ending. Realistically, Shep didn't survive all the games by simply agreeing to what was told to him/her.

i expected it to happen in some of the many endings.
The poll lacks this option.

"The hero must die" trope is annoying and cliche, and (for example), I'm glad JK Rowling resisted the myriad calls for her to off Harry Potter.
WAIT...she did?

If the death makes sense and doesn't feel like the cruel hand of the writer screwing with me, then yes. But if it's done just to add DRAMA!!!!!!1, then no.
That said, I'm really getting tired of "The Hero must DIE!" trope. It's overused to the point of being cliched. Shepard's earned a happy ending. Let the man retire and rest with his love interest and friends.
Honestly, I'd like to see him help Tali build her house. I didn't even romance her, but ending the series with him helping his friend build a house on her newly acquired home world, while his LI and child run around would be perfect.

The book was released almost five years ago mate. There's a statue of limitations on this stuff.

And more important, Shepard deserves to have a happy and calm life.

Indeed. Statute of Limitations on "omg spoilers!" is commonly acknowledged to be one year.

the game series is Shepard's story, and Shepard is Bioware's creation, so they can Kill him/her if they want. i have no right in forcing them to keep a hero they would want to kill alive.
To bad BioWare said Mass Effect (3) was co-created with the fans. They had to know this statement would come back to bite them in the ass.
