I don't mind Shepard dying. I think that is actually the only thing about the ending I don't mind.

Unneccesary but IDK we don't get anything else anyway so I can't say I do however he lives in the "best" destroy ending so I guess that's good, maybe.

Sure, if it is satisfying.

Forcing my character into three 'no win' scenarios where I have to collaborate with the creator of the Reapers, I have to forsake my morality, and I have to die is NOT satisfying.

I don't mind the idea of Shepard dying. I was expecting her to drop a long time before I even started playing the game.

However I don't like it when she HAS to die. It should've been more options. One choice would've lead to a heroic death, one to a tragic death and so on... and one happily ever after with the little blue children.

Mass Effect has been a game about CHOICES. Forcing Shepard to always die in the end makes no sense.

No, I'm not. Call me old fashioned, but I just don't see why Shepard can't be rewarded with a bit of happiness at the end of this journey. I knew it was a possibility, and if Shepard died in a way that made sense, I would eventually accept it ,but I hoped I would at least be given the option of keeping Shepard alive in the end.

Nailed it! :)

the results of that poll disappoint me.

But yes I was fine with it. I expected it even.

That's why the beam rush was so awesome. While I expected him to die, I expected him to succeed. When he got hit well before even having a chance I was like OMGBBQ. But then... well you know. I'd have preferred a super depressing -shepard got killed by harbinger and despite the galaxies best efforts, you failed- ending. Could have ended with that little box Liara made being discovered by some unseen species in the next cycle.

I don't mind Shepard to die, but if they wanna go that way, then it should be only one of the OPTIONS. They did it before in DA:O and ME2, so what's the problem?

Shepard dying is fine, but they need to die a hero.

And not have the Normandy crew stuck on stupid planet for the rest of their lives. And have the prospect of the galaxy rising from the ashes.

The Suicide Mission in ME2 pretty much illustrates why killing off the player character no matter what is a bad idea as far as the gaming experience and the crucial element of choice is concerned.

And contrasting ME3's finale with previous heroic sacrifices in the same game shows why it's also a question of good writing vs. bad writing.

No, I'm not OK because it's a mandatory death. I want at least one ending where she survives, maybe the hardest one to get. And no, the breathing scene is not enough.

I'm more than happy with Shepard sacrificing himself to save the galaxy if there is a need for his sacrifice. The ending as it is though seems pointless. Shepard has won. He's got the Crucible to the Citadel, the Catalyst has surrendered, The Illusive Man has been killed. Shepard has the choice of how he will shape the galaxy. Unfortunatly he has to die. Why? I understand Synthesis requiring his death, I would be happier seeing Shepard uploading his conscience to the Citadel to control the Reapers, I don't think destroy was the best place for sacrifice. But hey, what do I know, I'm not a proffesional writer like some.

Best kind of retirement there is, so yeah, I would have to say I don't mind Shepard dying at all. Just can't see him going to Rannoch with Tali or starting a family with Liara, not after the Reapers had more or less become his life.

Yes and no. The way it was done, certainly not. No choice, total abandonment, utterly depressing.

If there had been a scene before the Conduit rush, where Shepard ordered his squadmates to stay behind, maybe pulled Garrus over to the side, told him to keep everybody safe and then ran off to face Harbinger. That would have been heroic.

And then later, a scene with the squad looking up at the Citadel as the Reapers fall/retreat, maybe tears in their eyes, a word or two honoring their Commander. [No damn Normandy escape scene, they should have remained on Earth.]

I would definitely have liked an option for him to survive as well.

Are you OK with Shepard dying at the end of ME3?

Yes. . . If it would've been a noble sacrifice and not doing what star brat said.

im fine with shepard dying - if its for a good reason, which the ending patently was not

think about it, hes not the kinda guy who is gonna grow old and die in a lil seaside house on rannoch no matter how much he might like that. hes the kinda guy thats gonna go out in a blaze of glory while kickin ass.

Yeah.

But I'd like the option to have him survive too, in case that's the way I'd like to play it on a different playthrough.

The fact that still bothers me to this day (after playing through the game 4 times now) is that we cannot decide if Shepard lives or dies. Javik said it best that he would be looking forward to seeing what peace is like after knowing war his whole life. The same can be applied to Shepard.

Sorry but if I'm sitting on 7200 EMS with a Readiness rating of 100% I would more then expect Shepard to live but I guess we will find out with the Extended Cut.

If it was optional, like in Dragon Age Origins, than yeah, I'd be okay with it.

This game IS supposed to be about choice ya know...

Yes - in the sense that it's the kind of ultimate sacrifice a hero/heroine like Shepard would make to save the Galaxy.
No - in the sense of the way it was handled, becuase it ultimately made the sacrifice border on pointless.
No - also, because as much as I believe Shepard would sacrifice him/herself for the greater good, I like my characters to survive at the end, 'cause it's just so damn depressing when they don't and you feel like you ultimately failed in the end.

Same as most, I feel it should've been a possibility, not a certainty. If you worked your ass off for three games, trying your damnedest to prepare for this fight, survival should be a possibility.

^This plus as people said if the relays are destroyed it doesn't make you feel any better that Shepard died kinda pointless even.

I can accept if Shepard dies at the end.

The point is "I choose" his death - which means clear process and reasonble plots are necessary.

GIve me real options, and no more Artisitc Integrity Sxxx plz.
