Forcing my character into three 'no win' scenarios where I have to collaborate with the creator of the Reapers, I have to forsake my morality, and I have to die is NOT satisfying.

However I don't like it when she HAS to die. It should've been more options. One choice would've lead to a heroic death, one to a tragic death and so on... and one happily ever after with the little blue children.
Mass Effect has been a game about CHOICES. Forcing Shepard to always die in the end makes no sense.

No, I'm not. Call me old fashioned, but I just don't see why Shepard can't be rewarded with a bit of happiness at the end of this journey. I knew it was a possibility, and if Shepard died in a way that made sense, I would eventually accept it ,but I hoped I would at least be given the option of keeping Shepard alive in the end.

But yes I was fine with it. I expected it even.
That's why the beam rush was so awesome. While I expected him to die, I expected him to succeed. When he got hit well before even having a chance I was like OMGBBQ. But then... well you know. I'd have preferred a super depressing -shepard got killed by harbinger and despite the galaxies best efforts, you failed- ending. Could have ended with that little box Liara made being discovered by some unseen species in the next cycle.

And not have the Normandy crew stuck on stupid planet for the rest of their lives. And have the prospect of the galaxy rising from the ashes.

And contrasting ME3's finale with previous heroic sacrifices in the same game shows why it's also a question of good writing vs. bad writing.

If there had been a scene before the Conduit rush, where Shepard ordered his squadmates to stay behind, maybe pulled Garrus over to the side, told him to keep everybody safe and then ran off to face Harbinger. That would have been heroic.
And then later, a scene with the squad looking up at the Citadel as the Reapers fall/retreat, maybe tears in their eyes, a word or two honoring their Commander. [No damn Normandy escape scene, they should have remained on Earth.]
I would definitely have liked an option for him to survive as well.

Are you OK with Shepard dying at the end of ME3?
Yes. . . If it would've been a noble sacrifice and not doing what star brat said.

But I'd like the option to have him survive too, in case that's the way I'd like to play it on a different playthrough.

Sorry but if I'm sitting on 7200 EMS with a Readiness rating of 100% I would more then expect Shepard to live but I guess we will find out with the Extended Cut.

Yes - in the sense that it's the kind of ultimate sacrifice a hero/heroine like Shepard would make to save the Galaxy.
No - in the sense of the way it was handled, becuase it ultimately made the sacrifice border on pointless.
No - also, because as much as I believe Shepard would sacrifice him/herself for the greater good, I like my characters to survive at the end, 'cause it's just so damn depressing when they don't and you feel like you ultimately failed in the end.

Same as most, I feel it should've been a possibility, not a certainty. If you worked your ass off for three games, trying your damnedest to prepare for this fight, survival should be a possibility.
^This plus as people said if the relays are destroyed it doesn't make you feel any better that Shepard died kinda pointless even.

The point is "I choose" his death - which means clear process and reasonble plots are necessary.
