I hope it's multiplayer is as good as the original Black Ops.
Not digging the future warfare theme, I was hoping for the Vietnam era stuff.

Haven't bought a COD game in ages and probably won't get this one ( the engine looks like ass at this point, IMO) but it seems like its at least trying some different things.
- The Black Ops II story will be branching—it will feature choices and variable outcomes. Wait, what? Yep.
- A large part of the branching will be due to Strike Force, which is a
brand-new game mode featuring tactical, open-ended gameplay in
sandbox-style levels.
- Strike Force missions will be woven into the core single-player
campaign, and will present themselves as various black ops missions
available around the globe.
- Players won't be able to play all of the strike force missions in a single playthrough.
- Strike Force also allows a zoomed-out command view via an unmanned
aerial drone that lets you to set waypoints for your units to achieve
shifting goals.
- Strike Force will allow you to control (at the very least) armed
aerial drones, armed land-drones, and unarmed aerial drones in addition
to being able to hop to the viewpoint of any of the soldiers in your
squad.
- Depending on the outcome of a given strike force mission, the story will
change. "You're going to choose a mission," said Lamia, "and that's a
branch for the story. Say there's three missions out there—you're not
going to go back and play all of them; the story goes on. If you die on a
strike force mission, you die in the story."
I rented that game...and barely felt it was worth it.The only reason I bought MW3 was because my cousin persuaded me. Next COD games is up to him!

Calling it now, next up: CODBO3: Future Warfare and because of the (probably badly done) futuristic setting, nearly no-one will buy it. Unless they have an ace up their sleeve that'll be the end for COD.

I admit, i am excited for it. Seems that they actually will focus on the plot.
But...zombies...my god...

Yeah the singleplayer compaign is like this. It just plain sucked in Black Ops in my opinion. The original MW had its moments, but other than that I'm only in it for the multiplayer. And the Black Ops multiplayer does feel unique enough to me that I wouldn't call it a generic shooter. It's certainly also fun enough that the CoD franchise doesn't deserve the flak it's getting constantly on BSN.Kronner wrote...
Call of Duty went downhill after Modern Warfare (I enjoyed the original and CoD 2 as well). It's a simple generic shooter with 2005 graphics.

By the way, if you want to see a really generic shooter, try out Homefront. It's like a CoD game, only worse in every single way.

and apparently there are rumors Combat Training is getting a major improvement.
