It deffientaly isn't unique anymore. There are several shooters similar to it in terms of gameplay.
That's right, other shooters have copied it. Just to name two: Crysis 2 multiplayer and Homefront in general (Homefront basically IS a worse version of a CoD game, which is why it deserves much flak). ME3 MP borrows quite a bit from the formula as well, but in my opinion ME3 MP doesn't stay fun half as long (or even one tenth).
Now their multiplayer structure is the best, but even that is now copied everywhere. CoD does deserve every last bit of flak it gets becasue since CoD WaW it hasn't innovated and has gone away from it's realistic and authentic stories to micheal bay set piece moment after set piece moment and lost all feeling of immersion.
Say what you want about singleplayer. I don't play these games for the story or the Michael Bay singleplayer campaigns. I think multiplayer has been improved quite a bit since WaW, and in my opinion Black Ops and MW2 are the best of the game for multiplayer (and so far ahead of the copies it's not even funny). I guess you'd have to actually play the game in multiplayer a bit before you realize it, but even those two games do not play the same at all in MP.
MW3 did as well. I was disappointed. I guess I'll probably buy BlOps2 if it looks promising enough, but I doubt they will be able to avoid messing it up. I would love it if shotguns were unnerfed to the level in MW2. That's the one thing BlOps (and MW3) really did wrong - shotguns were made primary weapons and then nerfed. Now Black Ops 2 seems to be innovative as far as CoD goes, but we shall see. Too early to tell.

This homogenization is what makes me love Skyrim and hate DA2.
Though we'll see. There needs to be more info out on Black Ops 2 before I really decide what I'm going to do with it.
I will say this though-
FRANK WOODS IS ALIVE! YAAAAY
I thought it was pretty stupid that he got himself killed by jumping with the dude strapped with grenades.
I mean, he could've just kicked him through the glass. But noooo.

Looks better than that trash known as MW3.
Yeah, MW3 is pretty bad, hahaha.
I still play MW2 though. Love the multiplayer.

Calling it now, next up: CODBO3: Future Warfare and because of the (probably badly done) futuristic setting, nearly no-one will buy it. Unless they have an ace up their sleeve that'll be the end for COD.
They will probably team up with Kojima, CODB03: The Return of The Patriots.
Now that's what I'd want to see.

Now imagine in Z Mode if the zombies were created because of nano-machines, and only Otacon knows how to stop them?Arppis wrote...

Looks like more of the same. I think I'll be wickedly delighted though if its choice and consequence system actually manages to outstrip DA2 and ME3's (which wouldn't be that hard to do really).
"We want Dragon Age's audience." Bwahahaha.
Even games like this have better C&C and branching narrative than ME2/3 and DA2.

Dood this conversation is awkward.
I think Skelter tries to say that if you are looking for a MP shooter go play BF3 instead of "copy-paste" CoD games. Or you can get Counter Strike GO

Hmm I'm hopeful it'll keep its promises on the SP. If not I don't care much for MP or zombie hordes.
I didn't buy it for the singleplayer and I am glad I didn't. I honestly quickly got bored.
Time will tell if the multiplayer is fun like Black Ops was or disappointing like MW3. So far at least the maps are looking better. I hate the maps that are too open so you are always sniped or shot in the back. MW3 sure had a lot of that going on.
