I'm not saying you should be rolling 3x AA 1x Justicar. But you should have at least 2 team members capable of comboing off eachother.

Yup, he brings up quite a few valid points, this is definitely one of them.

And how often is it you see great teamwork in PUG golds?
We are talking about RANDOM teams here, not "friends" playing together.
Even 2 friends can carry a gold - but in a PURE random gold lobby, this guy speaks the truth.

Kumquats you've got me wanting to try a carnifex infiltrator... I'm assuming it can kill unshielded enemies from cloak with a headshot, is super light, and I could still use a melee damage mod. Definitely giving this a shot tomorrow.
I only need the Carnifex for killing an Atlas, the Falcon is the main weapon of my build.
So I come along with TWO weapons and one weapon even has the reputation of being crap after the patch.
No one kicked me with my GI, so I wonder if people look at the Level of the Weapons or only look which class you have.
On the other hand, I noticed that I get kicked with my Krogan Soldier, Claymore X. I'm perfectly fine if people don't want to take me with them, personaly I never look at the other teammates too close.
I mean if there is an Asari Adept, of course I switch to my Justicar....
I would play Gold with everyone with my GI, because I know I can pull more then my own weight. With the Krogan Soldier I need teammates who can balance my weaknesses.

I know I am a crappy player. That's why I have to choose the team that I know will synergize with my own abilites thus increasing the odds of a win for us all. If my gut says there will probably be only a few tech bursts or biotic explosions per round with this lobby's team combination, I'll just leave.
Nothing bad with that.

I stick with my Mantis X when infiltrator or Carnifex IV when using space magic.
I don't have any N7's worth using yet either.

Lots of obstructions mean that when you have to hole up for a hack objective, you have maybe 2 jumps before a banshee is right on top of you. If you're good, you have someone kiting the banshees around the map so your team can camp the hack area and complete the objective. If this is a random pub group, your team is probably dead in under 30 seconds.

To what extent though? Because that could mean anything.
For example, if you have cryo blast, then anybody with a GPS can work (as I understand it). Heck, take incidiary rounds on any class with incinerate, and you have a perfectly reasonable one man combo right there.
I assume, however, that stuff like that would generally be considered insufficient.

This statement comes from the assumption that the team will function as a team. Most random games I have played (quite a few, actually), very seldom do you get people, even with combo-able classes, working together. This is for the very simple reason of not communicating. What I am trying to say is that most of the times, if there is no communication of some sort before, or at least during the game, very few random gold groups make it through.
As time progresses, I have noticed a degree of evolution though, more and more random groups seem to form a team of sorts after a few waves of running aimlessly around the map...

Play Batarian Soldier or Geth Engineer with Disruptor/Falcon = Carry team to victory with AoE melt.
Hydra ? Ask everyone to camp in the control room, ignore the noobs who don't listen and let them die, they will ragequit and open the slot for someone else or grow tired of dying on their own.
Condor ? Kit and kill, easy map.
Undergeared/poorly built players only make the game last longer, they do not prevent you to carry it.
A >lot< of people are complaining about players joining lobbies undergeared but are using gimmicky setup themselves (GPR Geth Engineer, sniper Adepts, "Weapon centered" Batarians, Revenant turian sentinel...) which, while they may be "working", still cripple your damage output/utility and extend the length of games.

We're talking public lobbies here. Cryo/fire bursts are harder to trigger, especially in a pub group where half the time someone will headshot your target with a Widow before you can get the burst off.
One-man combos are generally insufficient in golds because they're too slow. Ammo combos can work, but if you're the one doing them, you're probably the one carrying the team.

I've met some good randoms in pubs that combo'd with me. It made things go so much smoother.

Of course, but I just know that I'm not that good with him, that I just can't ignore if someone joins the Gold game with a human adept.
When I play with my GI, I don't care at all.
I mean I don't get people who only look at the N7 ranks, that's just BS.
But I don't understand why kicking on Gold is such a big deal.

Also, some of those "randoms" you might be grouping with are people on these forums. Why wouldn't at least SOME of them be competent? By your same logic, why should I believe you're competent?

OP's post maybe be overbearing but consider the other extreme - you queue up with equipment and find yourself trying to solo gold because your team not only doesn't carry their weight but forces spawns and collapses your flank.
At that point you get to label yourself a "tryhard" burning consumables or just accept the waste of equipment by lying down and dying because it's not worth the effort to carry 2-3 bad players to an undeserved gold payoff.
When you're in a solid group of 4 you can goof off with funky builds and class combos, please don't solo queue on gold and expect the group to carry that wonky build for you.
