MP Issues due to bad servers or broken patch?

Was happily playing MP without too many issues but then I thought it would be a good idea to download the patch and see if anything changed. One thing for certain is that network stability has taken a nose dive.

The strange thing is, that it's not the usual dropouts that people would get occasionally, prior to the patch. First launch of the game and going into multiplayer goes well for ~5 minutes, then I get disconnected from the server. After that, it's like the game refuses to attempt connection with the EA servers again. Not even the leaderboards will work.

Closing the game, then launching it again will fix this for another 5 minutes, then the same thing repeats itself. This particular behaviour only started when I patched the game. So maybe this patch is the main reason that everything stopped working.

A friend who hasn't yet patched the game can still run it fine and doesn't get disconnected all the time.

So has anyone who hasn't downloaded the patch been getting the same issues? What about others who have patched but can play fine. Are others getting the same symptoms as me after they DC (leaderboards no longer working, no longer able to join or host games e.t.c.)? Just want to see if theres any similarities.

There was no patch on the 360, but the MP is broken as well.

The most convincing theory I've read is that a lot of user accounts were rendered read-only to combat a premature release of new content. So whenever you'd need to write something to the server (i.e. changing loadouts, registering consumable use after a wave, etc), the server denies access to the writing process and you get booted. Thus, even with all four players indicating ready, the game timer won't start if one of them is read-only and changed kits, and if no one has changed kits, any R-O players get booted at the end of the first wave.

It's pretty annoying.

I'm getting booted at the beginning of waves so not sure how true the read-only theory is. All I know is, as of this morning, I am unable to connect to lobbies, and when I do, I lose my connection within a couple of minutes. I remain signed in to XBL so the problem is server-side, I guess.

I was on earlier and got one of the packs (the one with just consumables in it) and played some matches; bought a few Premium Spectre Packs, too. Now I can't seem to get into any games. Upon searching it just says "searching . . ." forever.

i am playing it on the ps3, what means that i had installed the latest patch automatically 1-2 weeks ago - besides that the multiplayer-mode was far away from proper working due to that (4an example: i still had to reboot every 3/4 hour as some of the many bugs that won't disapear without rebooting (broken sound/ framerate/ connectivity...) everytimes occure in that time of having the mp-part of the programm running) - it was at least useable like this - but that changed about 11 hours ago, as the game turned into the exact same state the first writer here described - what in the end means: i can't do anything mass effect multiplayer anymore! please fix this bioware - untill that (and guessed it as beeing a problem every me3-player has by now), there is no mass effect multiplayer existing at the time, as a multiplayer-mode needs to be more than a like that named nothing to really exist as that.

It's not the patch, it's the damn victory pack.

I haven't patched anything at all, but I can't get into the multiplayer games either. EA is really going downhill fast. First the thousands of complaints filed with the BBB and FTC regarding the horrible endings which were nowhere near the "satisfying conclusion" Bioware promised. Now this. They have lofty visions, but apparently lack the wings to fly that high.

Not so sure it was due to the Victory pack since I was able to play a couple games after opening mine. Unless it was something Bioware did to lockdown some accounts. But then again, it wouldn't really make sense that the issues resolve themselves temporarily by just exiting the game and running it again.

This is exactly what happened. Certain accounts have been locked out apparently.

No patch for the X-Box 360.

All I know is this EA server disconect bull**** has gone on to long without any word from BioWare in months. I doubt they even care at this point.

Everything was fine last night (UTC+3) even after i reclaimed my Victory pack, so it must be something they did a few hours ago. Anyway it's really annoying. Wanted to play 1h to get another Premium Spectre pack while it's still available, but i think that's not going to happen.

In reply to the first poster, it's not the patch, cause i have all patches automatically applied, since i play on PC, and patch was released some time ago, and brought no changes regarding MP stability for me.

Before today i can't remember being disconnected ever, i only had problems shopping (buying pack, credits disappearing, but no items received), but now i get disconnected after 1st wave every time.

I don't think they are looking into fixing this at all and if EA reply "We're looking into it" or "We are aware of this blah blah blah" what they really meant is "Shut the hell up and play it" and "We know and don't give a monkey *** about it"
