This doesn't make sense, My Mage Warden is dead so when I import him into awakening he's alive how does this make any sense, is there something specific I've missed?
Help! This makes no sense!

I suppose it makes sense from this perspective: after having completed a playthrough, the character is still available to be used in other campaigns despite having made the ultimate sacrifice.
But in a linear logical way, not so much...,

Just pretend something happened to him when he was buried - maybe someone accidently spilled Holy Ashes on his grave or his grave was near to something that we know has potentially healing powers.

Actually, I remember the commotion etc. this caused when Awakenings came out. I think Bioware did want people to have the option to continue playing their Warden in Awakenings. They also gave you an option to start a brand new game, though.

Nothing of this happened! Actually your name is Shepard, you're an Alliance officer and you're recovering from being exposed to the Prothean Beacon.

Bioware decided to let players who wanted to use their ultimate sacrifice wardens in Awakening to do a retcon so their character never died.
Bioware feels that if players don't care about continuity enough that they would want to use a "dead" warden then Bioware should not stop them

If it bothers you there's actually a known fix for that.
Don't import dead characters into modules.
