I've always wondered why they made Sebastian strictly straight in the game. (Chantry?)
Make all LIs available to the player regardless of gender, but don't make large changes in the storyline based on gender (ie male Hawke getting to know about Karl but not female Hawke).

Is there any precedent at all for suggesting that the Chantry has any view at all on sexuality?

I don't want all bi LIs, I want exclusively gay and lesbian LI's, as well as exclusively straight LIs, as well as LIs that are exclusive due to other factors such as choices and class(and specialization). It just seems weird that every possible LI is avaliable(if not explicitly intrested in) to be romnced by the PC, no matter what they do. Anders for instance, could still be romanced by an "KILL ALL MAGES" Hawke who constantly attacks mages and supports Templars, when that is the type of person Anders is very hostile to.

I don't think that answers my question.

Why even add s/s romances of any flavor (bisexual or gay-only)?

Am I the only one who found it odd that there are no purely homosexual characters in DA.

Wade and Harren? Those two Grey Wardens? Possibly Samus and Hespith.

Meant to write LI not character
Samus?

For PCs that are intrested in a homosexual relationship to be able to have a homosexual relationship.

That would be very interesting to know.  I hope it doesn't though.  Tired of pseudo Catholic institutions in games.

I'm almost positive she meant Saemus Dumar, had to check the wiki for spelling though.

And is it okay to throw some people's versimilitude out the window in order to accomplish this?

Just about every Vegan I've met recently has been pretty whiny. It's easy to understand where they are coming from what with the city's economic collapse and all. On the other hand it's really hard to be sympathetic knowing that they made the decision to move to a city based upon gambling and tourism, which are cyclical businesses at best.

I'm a bit intolerant of Vegans therefore, but it's based upon personal experience.

Not to ****** in the pool here, but I think we have reached the point of having to discuss sexuality in romances full circle ten times over.

Some people see it one way and some see it another. No one is right or wrong on the subject. I think we need to agree to disagree.

It maybe time to move on to a different discussion within the romance topic before things get ugly and this post gets locked-again. <shakes head>

Yes. I played a broshep in ME3 and I couldn't have Traynor or Garrus as an LI, because that goes against who those characters are. Traynor is a lesbian and nothing can change that because that is just who she is. No character should have their personality tailored to fit how the PC is built(alignment, class, gender, race, etc.).

Since multipony seems to the new thing, does that have any impact on romances? Will the next DA come with additional emotes or dialogue choices to support romances between players?

Someone did post on this previously, but my memory is failing as to what was said.

Basically, this is always how I saw Thedas. There isn't any sort of stigma with non-heteronormative relationships like there is over here in the real world, and I look at all of the evidence presented in the games and books as proof.

- Branka and Hespith

could be argued that Orzammar society didn't know what the two of them were doing, so there wouldn't be any stigma against them if it wasn't known. Considering she had been gone for two years, I imagine it's likely that no one knew she was with Hespith.

Remember that Orzammar's Dwarves are dying out and they actually want more Dwarven babies, due to their low fertility rate and the deaths the Darkspawn cause.

So it might not go over well. Then again, considering she's a Paragon it might not cause an outrage, even if it was frowned upon.

Orzammar and the Dalish seem like societies that would take issue with homosexuality, not because of a disapproval of such a practice but because of their population.

In the Dalish clans, you see many straight romances. You've got Ineria and her lover, Pol and his lover, Gheyna and Cammen, and I think others.

- Wade and Herren

Nothing indicates this is known to Denerim's citizens. Or unknown for that matter. If a stigma exists in Thedas, that doesn't mean it won't happen.

DAO and DAII are cases in point of same-sex relationships happening. Whether there's a stigma against it is arguable.

Could be that it's dependant on where you are. Ferelden and Kirkwall may be accepting, whereas the Dalish, the Dwarves of Orzammar, and Antiva will get up in arms about it.

- Zevran and a lot of people

Zevran also says that homosexuality isn't looked kindly upon in Antiva IIRC. Or something of the sort.

- Iona
- Dairren

Don't know how the father would've reacted to the Cousland Warden being with someone of the same sex -- or if he did react -- but I remember that Fergus didn't seem too bothered by it, if at all. He actually made light of it IIRC.

So yea, this one's definitely got no stigma attached to it, from what we were able to see.

- Isabela and men, women, elves, and a dwarf in drag once

Isabela doesn't care what people think about her anyway. We've never really seen anyone take issue with her sexual orientation, but that doesn't mean it never happened.

Lets stick to what you want to see improved on romances in Dragon Age 3 and anything you did not like in Dragon Age 2.

More integration with the normal dialogue. I haven't played DA:O. In DA2, it seemed like a couple of heart lines would be enough to get you your elven girlfriend and the lines didn't really have a lot to do with the topic we were talking about in the conversation. Comparing to the very organic conversations of ME1 which I had played just before that, it felt a little disconnected.

I want a masquerade ball with Merrill and Hawke in DA3!

And kissing my LI whenever I want to return.

Also, hugs.

I don't recall this being discussed before. Must have missed the post. Figures..LOL!

I did read something, some where, I believe from a developer that interaction with a companion like in Origins, was coming back, but it would be different. Of course some one could have easily made this up just to feel like a man.

I for one would certainly like to see more dialogue options or hell go the route of if you have high enough rivalry/friendship with this companion, the flirt option unlocks. On top of that the further you get into the relationship the more the companion is willing to sharing things with you.

I could go for the ball, seems like a very Orlesian thing to do and when in Rome...
Hugs is somehing I haven't really thought of, but it felt strange not to be able to hug certain LIs, Morrigan or Fenris don't seem like the types who would go for that though.

This. It may have been due to the way time was handled, but a lot of what happened in DA2 seemed either rushed or too lackadaisical. Better integration of the romance into the plot would be very nice indeed.

Kissing on demand (or request) once the romance is established would be very nice indeed.

LOL! I just had a thought. That would have been hysterical if kissing your LI any where was in Dragon Age 2. Well that and sex any where.

I would so pucker up with Anders, right in front of Meredith, then use her desk.

Oh gosh even typing this out right now is making me laugh. Damnit! Now I wish that option was IN the game, I want to do it more now then ever!

I really wanted to just give Merrill a hug after her Act III quest. She was sobbing so much and I couldn't even console her with a hug while telling her what I did.

I kinda wanted to hug her and slap her at the same time, if that makes any sense

Yes.

Then why is it so bad to forget about versimilitude for the sake of providing more options via a 'herosexual' or 'all bi' romance system?

Again this really has nothing to do with my line of questioning...they didn't have to make Traynor 'exclusive' to one gender and she could have been open to both.
