I love Liara, but I like having her as a friend too.
It didn't bother me for instance that Liara may have gone with Feron, even though that turned out to be a silly rumour.
Garrus with Tali on the other hand...

I don't mind her character, she wouldn't ever be my LI, but she's still good as a friend.

But I am annoyed by her favoritism by BioWare and making her plots way more intricate than others.

I feel that way (even though one of my Shepards romanced her).  She's not my favorite character, but she isn't my least favorite by far.  Actually, seeing her in ME3 made me restart ME after I finished the game and start a new Shepard just to romance her lol.  I like her character in ME3 way more than ME1 and ME2.  I thought her "mind meld" goodbye (even just as friends) was beautiful with the music and scenery (not as awesome as Garrus's goodbye, but still awesome).

I guess if people hate her with a burning rage of a thousand suns, then having her break into your cabin after every major mission and forcing a conversation might make ME3 some kind of torture.  I mean, imagine if it was Starchild who did that?

Junk thread. Looks like OP has run out of real people in his life to find time to hate a story character and create a thread for it.

Well Liara did recover Shepard's body and did keep it out of the hands of the Collectors. So I really don't get what all the fuss is about. She did more for Shepard then anyone else.

That's just my two cents.

If I had to choose an asari to be my Shepard's BFF/Li, it would be Shiala. Scratch that. It would always be Shiala...

Shiala>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Liara

What's the matter bioware? Don't you like the color green?

I love Liara, but I can totally see how someone could feel she was just forced on you.

I think her role is supposed to be Shepard's closest friend.

"Friend" is a strong word.   <_<

You have to admit it was funny though. Sort of.
Ah for the days when the worst you could say about Mass Effect was that Liara was obsessing over a spectacularily ugly Drell (yes in LotSB he turned out to be a Thane clone but in the comic, eeew).

Weird, Feron was the only Drell I thought looked okay (obviously not in all the frames of the comic. That artist is not great). Thane's cheeks look like exposed muscle and Kolyat's chin.

She is insufferable, I can barely stand her being on my ship, let alone on my squad. She's the only one that throws a tantrum after her world is lost, and starts blaming Javik for being honest (or just being a Prothean if he isn't brought along).

Tali was upset from geth since ME1(hard to blame her until Legion appears) and in ME2 she blow like a hell when you told her to find another world on mision in flotila-
Garus it is well known he was in bad mood since he leaves Palaven, i can´t blame him he was leaving own peoples, and if you are telling me he was not broken from the war then you are wrong because he was already thinking about ruthless calculus. VS they both were angry and desperate about Earth and both have someone on Earth, but they are soldiers and death is something which they were sworn to face. Vega, what else to told he almost smash Sheppard´s mouth when we left Earth.

Liara spend her life with study of asari and prothean history and when she was hoping for few last years it will have some kind of reason or purpose, than she suddenly find all what she did cannot help to prevent the fall of Thesia, and yet is hard to be upset from her behavior against Javik, because Javik loose touch with peoples long ago and now he is doing only what he must and not what he could.
And when take Liara and Javik together on Thessia, Liara learn everything which asari believe was their mythology was instead Protheans messing with their ancestors, and for what purpose genetic research of biotics, learning them mathematic, saving them from extinction to prevent them for slavery...

...SO LIARA IS NOT ONLY ONE WHO IS ANGRY AND DESPERATE FROM SITUATION EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT WAY TO DEAL WITH THAT...

In game or comic?
Because this is comic-Feron.

Edit: Oh right, didn't see the comic comment. Well I haven't actually read it, but every frame I have seen looks hideous.

And on the covers he looks fine. Well, for a Drell. :P

I blame most of that on the artist, because the comic artist(s) have mangled many a character and they all look a little different with each frame.

I'm lactose intolerant.

I agree with OP; she felt super forced. I don't care for 'sweet' characters (I didn't like Merrill either, on top of Leliana and Liara) and having her all squeeeeeeee on Shepard made it that much worse- I can at least not recruit Leliana and completely ignore Merrill. I feel like they did it better with Alistair, who might be the most plot important companion in DA:O: there are a few times he has to be in the group, but the rest of the you can ignore him.

Really, this could have easily been avoided with more squad mates.

Funnily enough, I disliked Merril pretty strongly. My Hawkes are all pretty anti-blood mage. Also, I hated her redesign

@Gimwik

wait, what?... I don't even....

Did you even read my posts?

My problem is that i (and others) Hate Liara's character (im sorry if that offends you, but i really do, get over it) but for some reason BioWare never took this into consideration and decided to make her the canon LI and wraped her up in plot armour making her essential to the games progression while shoving her down the player throat (great if you like her, annoying and frustrating if you hate her) Meanwhile they just sidelined the ME2 LI's (Jack, Thane, Miranda, Jacob) and turned them into cameos and gave them all terrible LI subplots.

So BioWare are basically saying to the players 'you chose the wrong LI, you should have picked Liara'

Can you see where im coming from? I hate Liara + canon LI status + plot armour = crappy game.

I agree with you sayjng Garrus gets alot of attention. But unlike Liara i like his character, but even if you don't you can chose not to recruit him in ME1 or kill him off in ME2.

If Liara didn't have plot armour and is able to die, i would'nt have made this thread, because i would have simply killed her off... Or even better if BioWare given the other LI's the same treatment as Liara

yet you found the time to post a comment in this thread about being offended of my opinion of hating a fictional character...

The problem we have is not that there is too much liara, it is that not enough has been done with other characters. There is tons of potential in all of them (okay well maybe not Jacob). your vitriol towards liara I shall ignore, because it is misguided all that we need is more to be done with the rest. of the characters.

The level to which Liara is shoved down your throat made me want to have an option to kick her out the airlock or at the very least have an option of "**** *** Liara" in each conversation with her. If those forced interactions with her had been options for other characters then it would have been great for everyone. Treating Liara as a canon romance though... ugh.

Its the doe eyed gormlessness of her that I can't stand. Took ages for me to warm up to Jack's character but it eventually clicked. Liara though I still can't stand.
