Is it ever stated for certain that Morrigan came from Flemeth's womb? I was under the impression that it was just as likely that Flemth abducted Morrigan as an infant. Perhaps she was actually born to the Chasind, or some other people living out in the wilds.

You can ask Morrigan about this. She says that she really doesn't know whether she's actually Flemeth's daughter or whether she's some child Flemeth abducted.

I always got the impression that Morrigan's father was not someone so interesting. In one of the party banters (with Leliana I beleive) Morrigan states that Flemeth is something of black widow...she "uses" men until they're spent and the kills them off. Whoever Morrigan's father is I'll wager he's now a pile of bones somewhere in the swamp.

That might have been me. I do hope that doesn't end up being the case because I feel there are enough Arthurian overtones as it is without adding Mordred to the picture. Plus Morgana is not really that interesting of a character (outside of the Mists of Avalon, that is).
Assuming it's not the case, Morrigan's father really isn't important.

In DA2 it'll turn out that Maric is the father of *everyone in Ferelden* since the guy dropped his pants 23 hours a day with one hour left to put them back on.

This will lead to a massive civil war in Ferelden where every single person in the country claims the throne.

She's pretty awesome in Rosalind Miles's "Quenevere Trilogy" too.

But.

Either way, it doesn't bother me too much, but I don't think we'll ever know Morrigan's real origin. She was raised by Flemeth and, I think, that's the most we'll ever know.

Haha, I really don't think they are. I mean, If they were I think bioware would use that. It would have been an amazing turn around in the story, or at least hinted at it. I went through the whole game and didn't even think about that being a possibility. I think we will never know untill the next game, if even then. I imagine it will have something to do with Morrigan's bastard child.

Morrigan is the triple godess of the Irish cycle of myth representing the classic maid-mother-crone triplet. And well, she´s also the godess of war, berserker frenzy/madness and ultimately, Death.

So her name is quite well taken from Dragon Age: in the game she is the maiden; after it, she may become mother and well, Flemeth (with all the soul thing) can be the crone.
