So, they throw in nonstop online authentication as a solution to piracy.
Now piracy is the only solution to that same buggy authentication system. Nice one, guys.
Good game.

I think fewer people bought games, so they had to give away more stuff to make a game stand out. I also think they cared more about the product and the people they were making it for, most game companies now are run by corperate fatcats who don't give a toss.Blue Face Beast wrote...

The old MS games were great for that. Remember flight simulator and combat flight sim?Yentz wrote...
I do miss giant manuals though.
What do you think was different back then? Were they simply caring more about their customers?
I remember when i bought Baldurs Gate Shadow of Amn collector box, they sent me a t-shirt, a map of Atkhatla in some kind of parchment, a huge game manual of 300 pages?, a music CD, figurines, free bonus NPC and stuff.
You know. I think marketing department back then, they had it right.
And the game was working and patches were coming quick.
I need to dig my old BG stuff out, I've had to buy them on GOG because the CD's got scratched.

Does the PC version even USE the "Online Pass?" I thought this was automatically taken care of when the game was registered.
And I have the same problem.
according to EA's online pass guide, the pc has no online pass.

No, it doesn't! That's what makes this so beautiful. I almost want to cry.

"right click me3 in origin and check for updates solves the problem at least it did for me."
Didn't work for me, but posting it in case anyone wants to try and it works for them.

EA's guide lies. It's just hidden and is supposed to be load with the PC version automatically.lordshenlong wrote...

Right clicking the ME3 icon in Origin and updating the game did nothing for me. Just the regular edition here.

So yeah. This is pretty much garbage. Now I HAVE to go download a cracked .exe just to play the damn game.

Or you could just not play for tonight and wait until the morning when it'll probably be resolved.
Just sayin'
Seriously, you must have some other game to play, any other, yes?

I just tried this. Apparently I was missing an update, but connecting to the EA server is still failing so I'm still I'm being asked for an online pass.

All I wanted to do was see if I got my commendation pack.
Please bioware, at least give us some idea that you realize this is an issue.

The problem with this advice is the fact that I did go and do other things for the past 24 hours when the original problem occured with the MP servers. Now that I've come back to the game to play again, i find that the problem not only hasn't been fixed, but it is even more severe in that it won't even allow me to access single player now.
If Bioware ever wonders why ME3 MP failed, they are just blind.
As far as "Live Help" goes:
This function does not fix many of the online issues. I have run into three seperate major connection issues since ME3 released.
1) DLC would not authorize. Live Help did nothing to fix the issue, although they were kind enough to add pre-order bonus items that I should have received when I bought the game. I had to reinstall Origin, and update each DLC manually in order to fix the issue on my own.
2) Multiplayer Servers down. Live Help does nothing to fix the issue other than manually adding Victory/Commendation Packs when I asked whether or not I would be able to access them once the game was fixed.
3) Online Pass Required. Live Help does nothing to fix the issue. Again, they add packs in manually when asked whether opening said packs was the cause of the connection issue.
All in all, Live Help seems to be only able to add in DLC content to appease consumers that aren't able to access their game. There are very few instances where I can recall them actually fixing someone's connection beyond requesting the person to restart the game and/or Origin.

Eh, I did that yesterday and woke up to this. I have faith that they'll be able to conjure up yet another problem to replace this one by the time I wake up tomorrow.
