I actually had to look (because I never use Javik). He seems to be alive and well in my Normandy, (and hilariously enough, It tells me it needs an online pass but verifies my DLC fine). So, I am thinking I am the oddball here, yes?

You know, I can't help but think, I've never had these kinds of problems with Steam - at least that lets you RUN THE SINGLE PLAYER GAMES IN OFFLINE MODE IF THE SERVERS ARE DOWN... I could happily be playing the single player game right now (well, technically I can - I think - but without the DLC).

It wasn't full access. It was merely a veiwer. I thought the same thing and had no desire to give them control of my computer. Of course, like any other serious, user-affecting issue, Bioware is completely, totally silent.

Why would they care, right? They already have our money, after all. Oh, oh, but wait, didn't they lie to us and tell us we didn't need to verify DLC online? That we could play SP regardless of being online? Then WHY CAN'T I EVEN PLAY SP? Oh, because it wants to verify DLC online first.

So, BiowEAre, you have successfully fully locked me out of the SINGLE PLAYER portion of a game I paid 70 dollars for.

It's shocking how completely, utterly, totally incompetent they are these days. Given how little attention they actually pay, I expect this problem to continue through the weekend, and possibly get fixed next week sometime.

While it's not my intention to defend EA and Origin if You use option Go offline in Origin and run ME3 it will let you play with DLC. Checked it myself and did Eden Prime mission on my 2nd playthrough (which i doubt i will ever finish, SP is soooooo unreplayable)

they're not silent, they've said a few times that they're working on it

Read the EULA. They can discontinue their support at any time. This is a view of things to come. In 10 years you'll be able to reinstal and play ME1, ME2, but ME3 not so much. It's like Halo 2 on the Xbox, you simply can't play online anymore as they don't offer the service (local only). ME3 will go this way one day too and since it appears that SP is tied to MP in the regard of the online pass, if they dont patch the game to not require this checkup, when they stop supporting the servers, ME3 will be truly unplayable. This is, also, allowed, in the EULA (which we all argreed to). Of cource pirates will be able to play it then anyway....

And the old-as-hell PC games with dedicated server support are still up and running with hundreds of fans.
ME1 and ME2 don't need Origin and can be played whenever and wherever you want. But ME3 needs Origin to even install/play. That too could bring up problems in the future.

What's the most frustrating, is that this issue has been affecting my game since before http://social.biowar.../index/11814815 was posted and then "20 hours ago: RESOLVED!"

seems most ppl affected are the ones with the collectors edition, how happy i am now i bought it...
I have several friends on pc with the normal edition and they play just fine
