I'm not sure - just wanted to report my findings.  Also - I looked in his store and he got a victory pack and he hasn't touched the game in weeks.

That means they give them out to everyone regardless of who participated in the event or not. Wonderful.

You know they give out Victory packs to everybody right? It's explicitly stated...

I went to EA support and got a very confusing answer in live chat as to what was really wrong. Correspondant was clearly ESL so I'm not hating on him for communication skills - I imagine his command of English was far better than whichever language his first one was.

I just really hope that some good comes out of all this.

What I mean is someone, someone important steps back at this extended outage (That's right - I can't properly play my single player game because the single-player DLC is broken) and goes:

"Whoah. This DRM system was a freaking mistake."
"Maybe all those who were unhappy at the declaration of Origin being necessary weren't just spouting unfounded doom and gloom."

Now, I want to make it clear I am not really mad at anyone over this - and the Bioware team who continually posts in these forums have been stellar. For example, Jessica M., Evil Chris, Stanley, Mr. Epler, and Allan the QA guy from the DA series that posts as a fan have been generally patient and I honestly salute them for logging in day in and day out and dealing with the zany antics of the community day in and day out. BTW - as a side note, someone should consider hiring Allan as a community/PR person, he's really good at it and engages people in a very natural and charismatic way. You guys are the face of Bioware and you remind me that there are some really awesome people in the industry and I'm not just saying that because the next part of this post is kinda negative. You rock.

Allright. Positivity out of the way -
There is absolutely nothing good about server-side authentication to offline content. None. Especially when the industry standard is largely free of horrible outages like this. I realize what's done is done but EA can't possibly be saving that much money from whatever cut Valve (a company whose principal business is an online platform) would have taken for DLC vs the amount of time and resources EA/Bioware's ops teams are pouring into damage control.

Next time, when a bunch of people say "We want to buy your game and play it this way -- " well...Let's just say the naysayers in the community aren't all trolls. Or trolling you guys. I love ME3, for all its faults, and generally rank Bioware at the top of the heap of game companies. So next time when a bunch of people say "We want to purchase your games and play them via a platform that is actually out of beta, works, and is considered an industry standard," maybe they have a point.

I realize Origin is still a work in progress, and in beta. It says so at the top of the window.
I also realize that a 70s Chevy Nova can't hold a candle to a mid-2000's car made by any manufacturer. It's just a more mature product with a lot more development time behind it. So why would anyone in their right mind want to buy that Nova instead of something that actually runs?

Don't force us to rely on Origin or unreliable authentication in general until the product is ready.

Anyway, this is my last ****post. I hate even writing them. Best of luck to Bioware. I hope you fix this soon, I want to shoot some Cerberus trash in the face.

Has anyone tried to re-enter their old register code? I'm not sure if those who had a digital copy got a code, but I'm pretty sure the physical copy came with an online code. Would re-entering that work? I'd try it myself but I can't find my box.

Someone here already tried it, got told that it was invalid/wrong/whatever.

Dunno on which page anymore though.

Who's the mommy?  Has anyone ever seen a female Turian?  That picture does make me smile.  Maybe this is from a dream Garrus had....or it's his nephew....or this is a baby he pulled from a burning building on his homeworld after being attacked by reapers - it was the lone survivor.

That baby could be the future ME hero.  The possibilities are endless.  God I wish I could play MP.

Naahh this is fake :o Garrus got Kuwashii Visor grafted to his head

I totally support that. Don't force customers to use an unfinished product. Ford wouldn't try to sell a car that's engine has a tendincy to explode. Kitchen Aid wouldn't put a blender on the shelves that constantly lacerated people for no reason. They test it, put it in beta BEFORE they sell it to people and expect people to use it.
It makes more sense to me if Origin was optional. Or you got some sort of bonus by using it. BF3 could get an exp bonus if played with Origin and returned usefull data to make Origin better. ME3 could get a credit bonus for the same thing.

Heh. Yeah, well. TBH - one of the reasons I'm being patient with them is because I work in the software industry myself. I know how utterly screwed up software is. Most of the time it's two steps forward, three steps back. Sometimes you get lucky.

Just don't force it on people til it's ready.
