how do i copy my saved game from ME 1 to ME 2

Start the ME2 launcher (rather than the game) and select the Configure option. In the Configuration Utility the fifth option down on the right hand side is Save Games. Click that and in the main bit of the utility a big button appears marked "Copy Mass Effect 1 Save Games". Click that and browse to the folder where your ME1 saves are, which I think is normally C:/Users/[your user name]/Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect/Save. Click OK and it should pick up all the saves from completed ME1 games and import them into ME2 for you.
