The sad part about the Eagle is, on it's profile, the text states it's based on the Desert Eagle--arguably one of the most powerful pistols of the modern age. I think comparing the N7 Eagle to the Desert Eagle is a tremendous insult to the .50 AE, seven round pistol.
There is literally no playing style or class that meshes with well the gun. The only purpose of the N7 Eagle is bragging rights.
I mean sh*t. If I saw a solo gold run and someone was using only the N7 Eagle, I would consider that person godlike.

That's exactly it though. The most powerful handguns of the modern age are puny. Mass Effect guns are like miniature railguns up against futuristic super armor and force fields. A rapid fire Desert Eagle is a pea shooter in the future.

The main reason they stopped using bullets was efficiency. Why spend time manufacturing bullets when you can just scrape off hunks of metal? Bullets would still work fine against the space armor as long as they were AP (Maybe not pistol rounds, but AK-47 rounds would go through everything without AP) but the kinetic barriers woulds stop a few of them before going down, just like every other weapon.

i like the N7 Eagle, eh i view it the same as Zaeed does his Jessie. doesn't pack a lot of punch, but its reliable as all hell... heh i'm using the eagle more than i do the Cerberus harrier actually and i thought i'd stick with that forever but... i'll be damned if that N7 Eagle hasn't seduced my heart away from the rifle.
ahhh... i call mine...Samara. it makes music much like her voice when it fires, its elegant, and very amazingly beautiful when colored black... heh and my N7 eagle is a bloodthirsty little ****... heh i swear she wants to kill beings more than i do sometimes... i owe a loooot of my recent fun to that weapon, and i'd trade every other weapon i stole using gibbed, for one new mission with that shiny brittle new gun... even the Harrier... even the Caine i modified to have pretty much infinite ammo in Mass Effect 2.

I have never had any of the other weapons "jam" so they are all reliable.
I used my Eagle V the other day... it was not worth using compared to the likes of the Phalanx, Carnifex, Paladin, Talon or really even the Predator.

You may not realize this, but you're actually in a very old thread right now. You're quoting someone who made a statement that was based on the gun as it was 5 months ago. The hurrican is amazing now but thats because its recieved 3 buffs since this topic was made. So while taken into context today, his comment is silly, but back then it was completely true. This is the problem with resurrecting ancient threads, the conversation and opinions may no longer be relevant - especially in a game that has weekly balance changes.

If you've used a turian soldier, max weapon damage/accuracy spec, the eagle 3 is better than most X assault rifles in the game. Hands down better if the ARs are held by non-turian-soldiers.
My GF has an eagle 8, and it's actually pretty sweet.
I suspect the eagle hate is largely historical, and many people haven't bothered giving it a fair shake since the last round of eagle buffs (I myself used it as a joke, and was pleasantly surprised).
I'm expecting that after it's buffed again, and someone makes a video of it being OP, everyone will jump on it, and it'll later be nerfed back down to what it is today.
Keep in mind I'm posting as someone who's out of shotgun amps, and has had a massive RNG shotgun amp dry spell, and has decided to use other guns to spread out the amp usage to save the SG amps for platinum.
So I wouldn't say that the eagle is good compared to the best guns in the game, but it's pretty darn good compared to most guns in the game.

The n7 Eagle is a caster weapon. I like it. Its fast like an SMG, but much more accurate then the god awful hurricane. I use it on my n7 fury to strip shields, or finish off anything that survives a BE.
