If Extended Cut is awsome with a side of epic, is Bioware and Mass Effect redeemed to you?

So when EC is out and makes the ending much better or at least logical, is your faith in Mass Effect and Bioware restored? Would it make you buy some ME DLC? How about more Dragon Age or Star Wars series? If yes or no, give a reason.

To me this is difficult. I find making these endings work next to impossible, but I do think they could be made better with a lot of work. So i will remain hopeful. I do not own any Dragon Age, but the DA mods have been nice to us and this is making me look into their product because of it.

I don't think I will pre-order any games from them anymore.

Not redeemed, they'll have to work hard to earn my full trust like they previously had but they won't be my most hated company anymore.
For dragon Age I just did what you said, their mods have been so nice I bought DA:O and I've just got one advise: DO NOT romance Morrigan, her romance's ending is equaly frustrating to Mass Effect 3's

It cant be logical because whole story changed during Thessia mission.
It cant be logical because main enemy is gone and replaced by space brat
It cant be logical because game is not ready yet to start selling

For me a lot depends on how its presented to us.If it's released with a "sorry we honestly thought you'd like that end, here you go we've used extra strong cavity filler on the plot" and it turns out to be awesome they'll be redeemed. Not to the point that I'll preoder from them for a bit, they won't redeem themselves that much.

However the attitude I'm expecting is them looking down at us "poor thick plebs" who can't understand the richness and complexity of their artistic vision (I feel ill saying those words) and in that case it doesn't matter what they do with the ending whether it's awesome or they turn Shepard into a Unicorn that gallops across the galaxy killing reapers, I'll be buying their games second hand when they're about £5.

This, without the "buying their other games" part, because Mass Effect is all i am ever going to purchase from them, and ME3 will probably be the last if they keep going down this route.

yes but it would take more than that for me to truly trust them (and pre order from them) ever again

The series has ended. I can't see how the DLC 'ending' will change anything, at best it may fill in the odd gap. For me, only a complete overhaul of the last mission would be in any way satisfying!

Bioware ended the series the way they wanted to end it, and that's fine, they wrote it and can do whaterver they like, but I absolutely hated it and as a result I'm finished with Mass Effect. I don't even see how they could continue from this point either, with so much left hanging, and frankly, I don't care.

No, because they still lied. It will be redeemed if the people responsible made a statement that said "We're sorry we lied and we will never allow our ego to give you, the fans, misinformation ever again."

I could care less about DLC at this point, I just want them to man up and apologize. But instead, they're more concerned about whether or not they can call themselves artists. Seriously, human pride knows no bounds sometimes.

BTW one of my teachers in high school once said that the average person requires 7 good deeds to redeem a friend from doing 1 bad deed. Probably an exaggeration, but it does tell you something about the situation. Bioware needs to do a lot if they ever want to be taken seriously ever again. (I mean come on, artistic integrity? How can anyone not laugh at that?)

I just reread their faq about the ec, no way is this bs gonna be satisfying.
Seriously, if they only deliver what they are refering to in this faq on their hp

blog.bioware.com/2012/04/05/mass-effect-3-extended-cut/
(although probably everybody has already read it by now)
then I couldn't care less and it defnitely won't be enough to redeem them.
So far I'm planning on getting their games second hand, if I even bother.

In fact if the ending doesn't address the fan's troubles, i'm gonna be even more pissed at them.

ANd if I ever hear or read that frigging line about believing in our artists vision again, my head will probably explode "Scanners" like.

No redeeming needed. I'm well past being upset/disappointed about the ending. If the extended cut dlc is crappy, I probably just won't preorder anything else from them, and wait til a Bioware game I may be interested in hits clearance before purchasing it. But that's the extent of my response. Either way, some damage has already been done, and because of that I'll probably refrain from preordering any Bioware stuff anyway, unless there's a Mass Effect 4.

The game may well be redeemed for me. I'll be able to play the trilogy again and that's all I really want.

But the way we've been spoken down to, condescended, lied to, treated as an annoyance and nothing more than a bunch of stupid children who simply can't grasp what the upper echelon of the writing staff were trying to convey is a far more insidious problem.

It'll take a lot more than an Extended Cut trying to fix the problems they themselves put in to repair the damage the PR department have inflicted the past couple of months. A simple, sorry the ending wasn't up to standard, we will endeavor to fix it, please stay tuned, would have done a lot for consumer relations, but its far, far too late for that now.

Well, DA:O is probably my favorite game of all time. That alone gives Bioware a few free passes. DA2 was disappointing in comparison, but honestly still wasn't a terrible game. ME3 isn't a terrible game either. A lackluster ending doesn't define the entire game. ME3 is actually a pretty good game and is extremely enjoyable. Sure, the endings didn't feel epic or leave you feeling like you just accomplished an epic feat, but the game still is entertaining.

So I don't see Bioware as needing to redeem anything really. I will still likely buy many of their games if their titles are still in line with what I find fun.

Hopefully, the backlash against DA2, will make them change course on DA3 back toward a DA:O type title. The ME3 backlash will likely make them more critical in making endings appealing. I doubt you will ever see another title from Bioware that ends in anything but a super happy uplifiting ending for quite some time.

In Dutch, there is a saying that when roughly translated also works in Englisch.

"Trust arrives on foot, but leaves on horseback."

It will make me look more positivly on Bioware, but restore my trust to the point were I will pre-order again... I will need to see a few more succesful titles (succes by my standards) to do that again.

If it makes me care about playing the game again, I'll probably buy some DLC. I won't preorder DA3, I doubt many people will at all.

I already like the game but if EC fixes some of the plot holes and clarifies the different endings and EMS points it will be great.

Edit: I will buy ME3 DLC but not DA2 DLC.

That is so true, I wouldn't even have needed a sorry, but the way they responded to us and spoke about us was... well, it certainly wasn't what I expected of BW.
