So when EC is out and makes the ending much better or at least logical, is your faith in Mass Effect and Bioware restored? Would it make you buy some ME DLC? How about more Dragon Age or Star Wars series? If yes or no, give a reason.

To me this is difficult. I find making these endings work next to impossible, but I do think they could be made better with a lot of work. So i will remain hopeful. I do not own any Dragon Age, but the DA mods have been nice to us and this is making me look into their product because of it.

Would I trust them again?  No.  My trust in them is gone.

Would I be willing to buy more games and DLC from them in the future?  Yes.  But A) it must be awesome, and B) fill in most of the plot holes introduced by Starchild, and C) must be played IN THEIR ENTIRETY by people I trust first

Would I pre-order something from them ever again?  Oh **** no.  I wouldn't even pre-order a guaranteed winning lottery ticket from these people.

I think that's unlikely that they could fix this, unless the IT is correct or they retcon a lot of sequences, but if they do the miracle i'll sort of forgive them, and buy further dlcs if they are worthy (i don't mind that they would be pre-ending because shepard might be dead). I'd avoid any preorder of further games anyway thoug, at least until they until the next game which is proven to be of their former quality level, but i would buy them anyway eventually (unless some red flag has been raised on release)

If the EC isn't good enough instead, i'll avoid bioware 's games for good (i was lucky that i hadn't the time to buy/play DA2 on release, and i was warned about it before i could buy it).

PS: About SWTOR, well, i've already had enough mainstream tab-targeting themepark for a lifetime, so i wouldn't play it anyway, in addition they proved that they don't know how to handle a mainstream mmorpg. About DA3, my position is above (probably just because i've skipped DA2).

Will the extended cut redeem bioware? Will I buy dlc, DA? Will I resub SWtOR? The short answer is maybe.
Maybe the EC will set things right, however, Bioware and EA will bare the scars regardless of how things turn out.
How they choose to handle the EC will determine how I feel about the rest.

The long answer is more complicated. Standing by their artistic integrity I can understand.
However, based on the handling of the controversy, the deus ex machina plot device (ie the "star child"), BBB stating their false advertising of ME3 and abandoning the central theme of "choice" at the finale, I feel that Bioware is unwilling to understand the critisism directed at them.
As a result they have lost respect from the community that helped make them what they are. Perhaps lost it forever.
With regards to SWtOR, I left not because of ME but due to continuing issues with the game itself. The framework for an amazing game is there but the problems that many in the community still have to this day ruin the experience. ME3 didnt exactly instil great confidence with Bioware's team. It felt like just another nail in the coffin for why it was time to leave SWtOR.

Overall, I feel that Bioware and EA percieve themselves as too big to fail. That their previous success ensures automatic renewal of that same level of victory, if not more.

I do remain hopeful that the Extended Cut will not only set things right by bringing closure but give the entire Mass Effect community the epic ending that this series deserves.
An ending that is on scale with the magnitude of what ME has brought to gamers and had done for the gaming industry.

To paraphrase the ME1 original slogan:

Many decisions lie ahead. None of them easy but ALL of them NEED to matter.

For me, Mass Effect would be redeemed, and I could actually enjoy it again.

But it would take future success for Bioware as a company to be redeemed in my eye. The awful and cryptic PR response that was frankly condescending at times soured me on them. I'll keep my SWTOR account, but as for future BW games, like many have said - I'll let others be my sacrificial lambs and wait until I've read several gamer reviews by people who finished them. If anything ME related comes down the pike, well... total spoiler city before I even consider buying.

Same response... essentially it cannot be. It's impossible for it to be that good. Sheesh.

Not that it's impossible for the EC to be good, but there's no confidence in BW's desire to make it good.

The thematics of the ending simply invalidates the historic importance of much that has achieved in the trilogy and, if true, exposes the thematic we were led to believe in as largely irrelevant, a temporary aberration in history. Thats one of the main problems of the ending.

I completely agree with you on how their PR was very condescending at times.
It's as if Bioware forgot they were running a buisness and took all the negative feedback SO personally instead of listening to what was being said.

My main problem with the game right now is that I haven't touched the single player campaign ever since I finished it. If somehow the EC makes the game replayable and the ending what it should've been, then yes. Don't know how they're going to pull that off...

If not... well, there's DA3, right? Though I said the same about ME3 when DA2 ended on a disappointing note. I'll wait and see.

No it isn't restored because it shouldn't have happened to begin with. It should not have happened in DA2 and even less in ME3. The only way I can explain it is greed. Fast money with a rushed product. Twice. How can I ever forget that in future purchases? Certainly not. I may play ME3 and even buy DLCs if they fix the ending in a satisfactory way. But it doesn't change that I will get future titles of Bioware cheaper, because I wait a couple of months after release. I didn't even preorder this time and didn't buy DLCs yet. Because of my experience from DA2. And now it even got worse.

I want to give Bioware another chance, they have made so many amazing games that I love & still play.

but they need to do several things.

- This DLC for the endings has got to be amazing, I want further clarification on my war assets, my squad mates & an ending that leaves me feeling satisfied. I can forgive mistakes but if the DLC tries to apply perfume to a turd then I consider it a failure.

- Bioware needs to re-discover its roots & realise what made it great. No frakking multi-player shoehorned into a single player experience, the RPG element being lost in favour of a cinematic rail road.

- Stop trying to cater to everybody. Seriously new players should be informed that if they have not bothered to play mass effects 1 or 2 then their enjoyment of Mass Effect 3 will be severely impaired & they should probably not start the series at its conclusion. Cope outs in the story so new players can get somewhere cheapen the experience for the true fans who have built a story they want to see impact meaningfully on the game.

I hope they can pull off a revival. Fingers crossed the DLC delivers.

I'd say the damage has been done so to speak.

The game ending may make some cohesive sense and be replayable for many after EC, but the way in which Bioware has fumbled through this whole fiasco has done a considerable amount of harm to the company's reputation with consumers. And at the very least, I don't see many blindly or on good faith rushing to preorder the next Bioware game.

also as a side note

if the EC turns out to be just a polished turd that simply explains to me in detail how dextro aliens starveto death and how my shepard is never going to see his LI again I sincerely hope the negative backlash is enough to cause certain two people to either be demoted or never EVER being given this much freedom again.

The Extended Cut is only going to address the ending, and if it's any good, it won't be enough to redeem Mass Effect 3 for me.

ME 1 and 2 are still and always will be my favorites.

And on extended cut, who's going to write it?

ME3 (and Bioware with it) went to hell the moment Karpyshyn walked out the door. Unless they SOMEHOW get him back, the Mass Effect series is doomed.

Pretty much this.  The person who wrote the stories I loved no longer works for BW.  Therefore I will have to find those stories somewhere else.

Care for some tale?

Once upon a time, there're the fire, the water and the trust those were friends.

In one day, the fire said; if I disappear, just looking for the smoke and you would found me.

The water said; if I disappear, looking for the rain and I'll comeback.

They looked at the trust who said calmly; if I disappear, don't bother looking for me. I'd never comeback.

The trust I has on BW would never comeback as well.

The EC has to be *very* good to redeem the ending, and address all the problems it has. But Mass Effect is without a doubt my favorite series of all time, so if the EC is awesome, then the Mass Effect franchise is redeemed for me, and I'll be able to play the trilogy again (wich I eventually will, even if the EC isn't good), without felling that it'll be pointless in the end.
And regarding BioWare, I won't blame the DA or Star Wars or their other teams for writing ME3's ending, I'll still look out for ther games, but probably I just won't preorder anymore.

Redeemed no. If the EC is masterfully done then I will consider buying DLC, however I will wait for reviews before purchasing. Future games? Not likely. The BioWare that I used to know and love has finally been swallowed by EA for all intent and purposes.

It saddens me, but rather than continue on this path it's best for me to move on. The writing on the wall has been there since DA2 and I'm not one to ignore it. I'm also not interested in reading future posts from BioWare founders defending their descent into mediocrity. My money will do the talking for me.

I don't see myself preordering from them for a long while. And thats if the extended cut is good. If it is not then I don't see myself buying games from them at all. Maybe once price drops significantly than I'll give it a shot but only if user reviews are good.

Im pretty confident it will be impossible for the EC to be great imo. As long as the star brat is there I dont see how it could be.

Yes, of course. Once is a fluke (DA2), twice is a coincidence (ME3), three times is a trend. If they continue down this path, I'll consider writing them off.

Yes! This is the first time I have been really disappointed with them. DA II sucked but then again I didn't have as high expectations on that game when it was released. ME 3 was fantastic up until the very end, that is the only flaw that BioWare have got in my book.

Yes, absolutely. That said, if all they're doing is adding more clarification to the existing ending.....i'll be very surprised if its enough. I'll be happy to give them credit if they do though.

BW gave us a wonderful universe to play in... I hope they will let us continue to play in it.  Even if we can't as our Shepards.   I think it's possible for the EC to "fix" the big issues with the ending.   Mass Effect still holds a special place in my heart, I hope the EC can begin to heal the wound.

I'm hoping for closure with my Shepard's crew & LI.   Reunion with LI & Crew (Shep lives) or Shepard's funeral scene (Shep dies).   I'd love a "X years later" scenes showing our crew moving on with babies of their own: Garrus & Tali in her house on Rannoch(sp?), Liara with blue babies, etc.

I'd like to see "Control" split into two:   1- A way to just kick the Reapers back to dark space and let Shepard live.  Even if it doesn't destroy the Reapers and 2- Shepard joins the Reapers for permanent control[/b]. (current control ending)

I'd like to see "Destroy" split up too, with high enough EMS you can choose to kill the Reapers and yourself (Thus saving the Geth & EDI) or sacrifice the Geth & EDI to save yourself as it is now.

If all it does is make things logical, then it will have met the upper limit of my expectations.

If they regroup and hit it out of the park, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Either way, I'll still have a bad taste in my mouth.

Thread hop: It will be a good first step towards restoring faith in them.

Complete forgiveness would have to wait until we get also a beginning-fixing DLC, because that messy tangle of random plotholes is almost as bad as the ending, but it is followed by the awesome bits of the game and the bad taste in your mouth is quickly washed off.

And a middle-fixing DLC, to address the linearity, lack of squad interaction, LI interaction and (oh my giddy aunt) insane amounts of autodialogue. Also the lack of LI scenes, the badly-done sex scenes with anyone who isn't Liara, the Tali photo... This game is broken in too many places for the ending-fixing DLC alone to make us love it to bits. There just isn't space in the ending to fit in all the awesome they would have to add (along with gratuitious blue babies) in order to placate us. ME1 had lots of problems, but we love it because it was simply TOO AWESOME not to love it. ME2 had the same effect. ME3 has too many problems and not enough awesome to compensate.

Having remappable buttons in multiplayer, separating the charge, revive, activate, go-to-cover and hop-over-cover functions from the ONE poor button they currently occupy would also help considerably, in addition to "skip any cutscene" button and "PAUSE THE CUTSCENE" button. You know, all those things we've been asking for since ME1?
