Seriously.  Upon being told I couldn't play my SP saved games with DLC or play MP without shelling out more money, I got mad.  I only wish I could get a refund on the Bioware points I bought.

no one has said that it'll cost more money to get it fixed.

This.

Only time (the Maker knows how long), but certainly no money.

This just happened to me today, it won't let me play anything.. I contacted EA online support, and the guy basically said, "Oh that, we're fixing it, is there anything else I can help you with?" Online I can understand, since they need to monitor cheaters, but singleplayer too? What's so bogus! I haven't seen a service this run so badly in a loong loong time. And what happens to those companies? You don't hear about them anymore...

The CS answer I received was a cut'n'paste "try uninstalling then reinstalling, even though you said you already did that, just keep doing it untill it works !"

Good to see they use the same awful CS that killed SWTOR for me

You have more willpower than I do.
As much as I'd love to ask for a refund, I dunno if I can part with this trilogy completely over a few terrible design decisions.

SWTOR, on the other hand, I played for 3 months, then uninstalled it and never looked back.

Seriously, my experience with that game was basically "Everything wrong with ME3 x10".
The majority of it felt like it was designed by interns. Which is a shame because a few elements (Story design, mostly) clearly got alot of love from someone.

@Emphyr

you have to have no connection to the internet to get the offline mod to work, unplug or turn wireless off

or just go offline in origin, that works too. I am also a SWTOR owner... the £129 one because I thought if I purchased the special edition pack I would get Leia or Padme's  underpanties. After 2 months I stopped playing it and went back to WoW which I am still paying for but stopped playing since ME3 MP. At least I am getting Diablo 3 for free... looking forward to that. I imagine Blizzard will run things a lot better. Don't think people on Battlenet had this many issues like we did with Origin and ME3.

Did you order the Japanese Special Edition? I think those are ones you wanted for panties.
BUT.... I hope BW can get the kinks worked out they every company goes through in time for a Mass Effect MMO.

Issues like this is why piracy exists in the first place. Way to fuel the fires Bioware! Congratulations.

Still don't get how this is a DRM issue.

There's a bad string reference on the 'Redeem online pass' page, so it's more likely to be a bug. A crippling one, but nothing to do with cash.

If DRM were not involved, I would have been able to play my game despite their failure to recognize my "Online Pass."  Yes, it's a bug - brought about because their software incorporates DRM, even if the PC version doesn't "use" it.

You may or may not agree with that stance.  That's how I view it.

The screen that comes up from the error (or came up, I have no idea if they fixed it) said "Purchase an Online Pass."  When I attempted to play my SP games, I was told I needed to "purchase the DLC used during the save game creation."

Does that mean money is required to fix it?  Sure seems to imply it.  If you didn't have complete mental faculties - say, you were twelve, ignorant and playing - your parent would say, "No, I'm not buying anything else" and you would believe you'd lost access. 90% of the people would never visit these forums to figure out otherwise.

Now, it's a bug.  Fine.  Then we circle around to "if they didn't have the stupid DRM in place to begin with, this wouldn't be happening."

Finally, time isn't free.  Frustration isn't free.  You may view them as such, that is your prerogative.  As a parent of two children with a full time job, my time is far from free.  Either from the viewpoint of having very little free time, or from the viewpoint of "I could be working and earning more than this game cost me instead of trying to play it."

You don't have to agree with me.  I'm not asking you to.  I'm indicating to those who do agree with me that you can still get a refund processed for the game if you're unhappy with it.  And EA/Bioware have given us plenty of reasons to be unhappy.

The CSRs are all telling me its now against company policy to offer refunds for this issue, so I'll guess too many people were doing it
