I don't get it,

Why does it take so long for anything to update on this site? When ever I reply to a post it is at least 5 min before the post is visible. *Sometimes* it will post right away but not very often.

Ironically, when the site is broken, like it was this past weekend, post topic replies update instantly as well as my player profile.

Yeah, my thoughts are that this site is connected to everything. Can be that everyone playing DA:O at this moment i'm writing is connected to the site, uploading characters, screenshots and achievements... that would make a lot of traffic.

Then seems that this site is exporting the database to another place and there is the whole delay when posting. Obviously if they're fixing the ingame related stuff with those serves down... the site runs smoothly, less traffic.

PS: see your reply in 30 minutes Jassper, lol

I think what it comes down to is that they weren't expecting nearly as much traffic as they got, piled on top of a totally new technology to BioWare. I'm basing this on Fernando's post here.

That is incorrect.  The forums just do aggressive caching to deal with the large amounts of data going through, and sometimes that caching doesn't keep up with the latest posts.

Makes sense,

I had to refresh 3 times to see your post. I seen the link in the "Whats New" but clicking it brought me here, and your post wasn't there. So I went back and forth 3 times and finally! here it is!

Sometimes it is instant, but useually not. Just get annoying after a while.

Actually I was going to create a topic on this, I see double posts everywhere because people keep thinking their last one didn't go through. I have no idea how everything works, but I just think if resources were diverted towards making peoples' posts show up instantaneously then they wouldn't double post, that would already reduce traffic by I dunno at least a tenth or something? So it would be a good investment, yield better performance by itself anyway.

Yeah, the caching is WAY aggressive, makes me crazy.

The cachebusting has now been fixed - new posts will show up instantly. (edits will still take some time)

So...does that mean you're hoping for traffic die-down (after the post-release influx) or are there going to be upgrades to fix the edit time-to-view? It's definitely a bit...frustrating.

Yaaaaay!
I never had a problem with editing, they've always shown up instantly for me, as opposed to new posts. Is that just me?
(Edit: *frowns* It didn't show up instantly, it still took a minute! Ah well..)
