Quality product? Hah. Bioware hasn't exactly set the standard for quality products lately if they need to add clarification for the endings...

Don't want no bloody clarficiation. I want an ending where my choices actually matters.

The fact that it is taking this much time is the only thing about this whole ending fiasco that leaves me feeling slightly hopeful that Bioware gives a tiny rat ****. I'm trying to keep my expectations low, but please dear god don't rush it. That did not go well for the first ending.

As far as i am concerned - no rush. They should take their time and make it right this time. But the thing is that trusting what people working for EA/Bioware say is harder from day to day.
They said that other ME projects are delayed and all resources are allocated to this. So they said. MP development is going according to schedule though.
So just as ensuring quality could be the reason for the delay (red), dumping it on people who simultaneously work on other DLCs might explain it too (green). And finally, marketing department could have set the most beneficial date for release of that DLC to launch another selling campaign while slides and text are already done - and this is the reason for delay (blue).

Well, first they had to spend some time in denial. Then they had to actually listen to why the fans were upset. Then they had to understand where they went wrong. Then they had to shoehorn explanations into the existing narrative for all their gamebreaking lapses in basic logic. All that stuff takes time, especially if you're fighting the effects of years of self-congratulation and incestuous media relationships.

I'm sure the DLC will be just as backhanded as everything else coming from them, though. I'm sure they still don't really believe they did anything wrong. They probably think we're all just too stupid to get it.

Whoa. Someone took a grumpy pill this morning.Image IPB

nice to see you take the same amount of time to read threads that you take making them...appreciated...

On topic - had you read the original post I NEVER said they should rush it, or that I want it rushed...I simply stated that based on what we know about EC and comparing to other HIGH quality DLC like kasumi, it seems inconsistent with scheduled release date of "summer" particualarly  when the battle is won or lost with the writing...

I mean if they had said we are completley redoing priority Earth I wouldn't mind if it came out at Christmas...

I don't post willy nilly. I very much appreciate threads like this.

A four or five month development period can result in a feature film being shot.

What can you do in that amount of time with a game?

Think about it.

If you want them to rush it, then you'll get a crappy product, nuff said. I'd wait a whole year if I had to. Hell, I'll even buy a spectre pack or two (MS points) if it makes it better in the end.

They haven't even finished the voice work yet. Tricia Helfer is starting new lines for EDI on Monday for instance.

Do we know that is for the EC or something else?

Yes, and Miss Helfer is doing work on the EC too.

Do you not pay attention to the announcements?

So what you're saying is they're having a third party do it?

Because it is going to have ~4 hours of extra content to convince us that there really are 16 endings.

15min x 16 = 4hr

If it were just 15 minutes of content, it wouldn't take as long. As it is, if it really is 4 hours of new content, this Summer might actually be too quick.

I'll take the middle-road since much of the content for each ending will have re-usability in the other endings. That should place Summer about correct for something decent.

All I can say is: Don't get your hopes up. Clearly our idea of "quality content" and BioWare's idea are two different things. And BioWare clearly doesn't really believe there's a necessity to address the ending, this is really just a capitulation. I can't imagine that they're approaching it with the right attitude. I'm sure Casey and Mac still think their original product is perfect as is. This will have the fingerprints of "grudging acquiescence" all over it. If it's not every bit as insulting as the rest of ME3, I will be VERY surprised.

if, according to Mike Gamble there is a huge team working on it, and as has been widely reported, there is no gameplay and only cutscenes and cinematics, with it being unlikely to be more than 15 minutes of content...Kasumi: Stolen Memory came out in about the same timeframe, was a 1 - 1 1/2 hour dlc with cutscenes, new locations AND gameplay, added a new pemanent character,  AND  had a MUCH SMALLER  team working on it...IS Bioware really that unsure or disorganized about what to even do with EC???

It just takes a long time to re-render all the ending cutscenes with Pink/Cyan/Multicolored Rainbow themes.

Patient be, you must!

For best results, they should look at the MGS4 ending. That is the best way to end a series. And no, I do not mean exactly like it, but I mean it gave closure to EVERYTHING.

The MGS4 ending had me in tears of joy.

Please. God. NO.

That ending to MGS4 was one of the most convoluted, protracted, and redundant crap endings I have ever seen for ANYTHING. It had absolutely no flow, like the writers couldn't decide where to end it, missing several decent opportunities where they instead had the characters stagger back up again to spout more pseudo-metaphorical detritus. Regardless of the fact that MGS has been just about dead to me since I was reduced to fighting psychopathic beekeepers, even if that was removed this would still be a terrible ending that tainted the rest of the game for me. This is a fine example of something that could have had more potential if the majority of it had been left on the cutting room floor.

Please, for the love of god Bioware, take notes on MGS4's ending... for what NOT to do.

I think the EC is going to longer than 15 minutes and is going to take into account previous decisions. So we may get as short as a 15 minute cinematic but that cinematic could have nearly 50 variations of it to be made. I'm secretly hoping that they are actually redoing the whole ending, but they've denied it every time its been brought up so far. :-/

We just hope they continue lying to us in that regard then!

Honestly nothing would make me happier than if they announced a deadline slip. It would mean that they are letting the work dictate the deadline rather than the other way around, which is clearly one of the main reasons why the ending is such crap as is.

Wouldn't be a guarantee that they'll put out something quality, but it would at least show that they're trying.

Widely reported by anyone but Bioware. In fact when presented with the claim that EC wouldn't have anything other than cinematics and cutscenes Mr Gamble responded with "Who told you that?", when faced with the "widely reported" claim his response was (3 weeks ago) "Well they know more than me then".

Simple fact is we have no idea what is and is not in EC, and no ammount of "widely reported" nonsense articles changes that. At the point this forum kept saying "widely reported" the people behind the project itself were still hashing out what to put into it. This was made clear by their own admission and reported by Weekes who was attending writers meetings around that time, which he hinted to had something to do with the EC.

Seriously, the amount of missinformation surrounding EC is tremendous.
