Goodwill is fine and as a nice gesture for "thanking us with patience" (LOL) would boost up moral.  But...when stuff like this happens and people attack the company and demand goodies because they haven't been able to play a video game for a little while...that just puts a sour taste in my mouth, it's sickening.

There shouldn't even be such a huge thread demanding compensation.

The fact that such a thing is here already shows Bioware/EA's lack of initiative in customer relations.
It's not just this issue, this is the result of all the acculmuated inconviences that have plagued the game since day one.
That's what puts a sour taste in my mouth.

Thats a damn good offer, considering all they deserve is a slap on the face and a lecture about growing up.

I thought this thread was so huge because some people are demanding compensation, and others are telling how big a jerk the first person is for thinking that. And then it cycles back, continuing to infinity.... and BEYOND.

But really, tbh shouldn't this thread be in a Help/Fix forum or something? I mean we all need something to whine about today but most of us aren't actually helping those with, youknow, the legitmate SP won't even work issues. That means the product is totally broken for the time being, unlike all the "DERP I can't play MP GIVE MEH STUFF NOA BIOWARE" complaints.

Neither does telling people to go outside make any sense at all. People need to realize that they aren't supposed to dictate what others do with their (free) time. If someone wants to play games (24/7, for whatever reason) instead of "going outside" or "having a social life", it's in their full right to do so.

yes and no... ALLOT of ppl really need to get out and see the sky based on any social/physiologic/psychological reason

Ceranil wrote...
Also, how is a MULTIPLAYER game not a social thing? Just because you don't see someone face to face doesn't make it less of a social interaction. Does "going outside but not interacting with anyone" count as being more social or having a social life?

it is to a point, and yes going out into the world even your back yard alone is being more sociable then sitting at your desk all day, if you don’t understand this then you need to be shot

Ceranil wrote...
Seriously people, stop telling people what they are supposed to be doing with their lives. Let them live it like they want to, not how YOU EXPECT them to.

I agree, but you have no right telling me I cannot tell you to be more sociable
I’m serious, STFU and leave.

Exactly. There is "common sense" and there is "Looking at something that is completely non-functional and still worshiping the developers for hell knows what reason." We are not talking a missing Commendation Pack or a few hours of downtime here. We are talking about a product bought and paid for being completely unusable for over a day and the only info from Bioware being "Um...We are working on it. Maybe".

If I ever treated a client like that in either the quality of my work or communication I'd be out on my ass within the hour.

for over a day, exactly, if its been down for half a week or a week I wouldnt say a word, but its been just over a day and we dont even know what exactly went wrong and how complicated fix this issue requires (its not just the bug itself that needs to be fixed, but as I said earlier, they have to make sure it wont happen again, it wont screw something else up, etc etc), thats the common sense Im talking about

It's only been 1-2 days though, that this particular problem happend...that's what I am talking about though, only this. The other problems shouldn't even be in this thread, and they haven't been directly mentioned which is good.

I do feed bad for those who have been victim to problems  in the past and still happening. I haven't had any issues besides this one, and that was actually just a night and a half ago when I think it was down globally for a little while. I don't have the recent online pass problem though, i'm on PS3.

The offer is not so light as you may think. By blood promise, I meant they had to sacrifice the genious who thought online passes were a good idea.

In truth, the compensation I really want is an end to the DRM b.s. they've created in form of always-online gaming. This b.s idea they've come up with punished us legit consumers, and didn't even stop piracy. So there was no point. In the end, their efforts at removing the (money) problems of piracy, does more harm than good.

To be honest, EA, you will never stop piracy. Someone will ALWAYS find a way around.

I worked in Customer Service as a rep and a manger, I deserve a working game.

Go get a clue, when you purchase a product that promises to do one thing it should do that ONE THING.

When buying a game with an online component, you should be fully aware that technical dfificulties could and most likey will occur.

A few days of downtime is not that big a deal.

For a simple MP compoent it is.  I've been through black outs with WOW and they've always kept the community up to date and even compensated for each day being down by giving you a day.  This like every other major digital company keeping a tight shut lip is awful customer service, and they could learn a thing or two from back to basics.  So once agian as a customer like I said this is my last BW product.

IE the theory that these fu cks don't give a sh it after they get your money is pretty god damn spot on.

These comparisons are ridiculous supporting this sort of entitlement....it a MP segment of a single-player game, and it's only been down for...2 days now for SOME people? Get a grip and relax.

entitlement....???

I would say that I am entitled to a working program.  However, entitlement has become a somewhat negitively loaded word lately that tends to be used by groups that have little care for any but themselves and their pocketbook.

I used it because others on previous pages have compared this sort of situation to a form of...here it comes again...entitlement.

We all deserve to have a working program, but because this a temporary glitch, which costs you nothing but a little bit of time, why should you need a special something for something that hasn't even been going on for all that long, what, tuesday night?

Goodwill is fine and as a nice gesture for "thanking us with patience" (LOL) would boost up moral.  But...when stuff like this happens and people attack the company and demand goodies because they haven't been able to play a video game for a little while...that just puts a sour taste in my mouth, it's sickening.

I obviously disagree.  I feel very strongly everyone, including corporations, need to be responsible for their mistakes.  This is especially true since corporations seem to feel they should be given the same rights as individuals.  What I find sickening is that corporations feel they are above individuals and should be able to get away with things most people would never even dream of trying.

to stop piracy is not their goal, theyre very well aware it cant be done, but the point of anti-piracy protection is either to delay the release of the crack for as long as possible or make it difficult for wanna-be pirates that they eventually give up and buy the game instead ;) and believe me, its working

not again, please dont compare pay to play MMOs and free MP part, ofc Blizz was giving away free days (as does BW with their SWTOR), but thats because you pay them on a regular basis to play the game

You're not paying for the online services; you don't need to be compensated. This thread sounds a lot like the Sony hack: demanding reparations for bull**** like "ohnoez i missing teh BLACK OPS double xp weekend!".

Working by giving it the opposite side effect.

Look at this blunder and look at the **** Ubisoft pulls.  They screw up and blame the actual buyers for these issues.  And know what happens?  People pirate the game thats not broken because cracks for these games come out same if not days before the release.

Do I condone pirating?  Nope.  But you can see why people are more then okay with DLing **** for free.
