If its not an armor piercing GPS people will whine.

Edit: In reference to the post below I'll add automatic head shotting to the above list (not the quote).

Comparing any gun to the GPS makes them look like crap. Its way to strong in my opinion, and makes other shotguns look like water pistols. I just got the crusader as well, and I am enjoying it. Mail slotting a guardian from across the map with something other than the carnifax or a sniper is pretty cool.

Hear hear. GPS definitely does deserve a love tap with ye olde nerf bat, if only for making all the other (shot)guns a "non-option".

I mean, sure, I love my Graal partly because of how accurate it is and that it can be used in long ranges, but heck, at least with Graal you have to aim, even lead shots. GPS is like... point in the general direction and pew away, it cannot score headshots but it doesn't need headshots. Silly.

Please tell me how it outperforms any weapon in any role, then I'll consider it mediocre.

Sniping Guardians through shields:
Black Widow and Widow do the same thing with more power and less weight (because it's more reasonable to upgrade them). Javelin can snipe Guardians through their shield with a lot more power, but at the cost of extra weight.

Long range shotgun:
Claymore, Graal Spike Thrower, and Geth Plasma Shotgun all do the same with more damage, less or equal weight (Claymore weighs the same but can actually be upgraded), and have less recoil.

Being a shotgun in general:
Eviscerator and Katana X both do more damage at close range, have a pellet spread which will make it easier to hit targets, have less recoil, less weight, and a quicker reload time.

I fail to see how the Crusader is even half decent.

Oh, and if you think it does high damage, you might want to check this. Its damage isn't high at all.

I just got another one of these...

I should say, one (very) slight redeeming feature of the Crusader is the ability to hip-fire it without any loss in accuracy.

But I got the Valiant instead so I aint complaining.

Geth Plasma Shotgun and Graal Spike Thrower both work at long range and have a much higher damage per second. They're also way lighter.

This + neither the Graal or the GPS is affected by shield gating which makes them far and away better weapons.
Plus they are easier to unlock and get to X

I have a nickname for the Crusader. The Crusaderp...

The damage. Even with a shotgun barrel upgrade and using my lvl 18 Krogan Sentinel, the damage from one shot to a Geth in the chest is enough to drop it down to around 30% health. And it doesn't matter if you hit this guy from across the map, or point-blank, it's the exact same damage. So unless you can pull off a string of headshots (which isn't particularly hard given the incredibly high accuracy of the weapon) you're looking at 2-4 kills for a single clip...on gold. I can do better than that with my Geth Plasma Shotgun and it's only lvl 2, and I'd have around the same accuracy, probably a little less.

I call utter bull**** on your claim of killing 4 enemies with one clip of GPS, it can't oneshot anyone with out charging the shot(no headshot bonus is a ****) and it can only shoot out 3 of those.

Seems like a massively heavy Carnifex or Paladin with some built in Pen.

You are being too harsh on the poor crusader. It is a shotgun, not a goddamn sniper. It is meant for close combat, but its accuracy makes it able to double up as a scopeless sniper. Yes, it could have more damage, or even a bit more stopping power for non-headshots, but it is a decent weapon.
Recoil is actually easy to manage, and if you are a good shot you can consistently crack skulls open with it, which makes up for its Katana-like damage. I personally like it on a CQC oriented class, with melee blade and barrel, so that I can have a reliable source of damage at range, while oneshotting guardians (at least in silver, but I am pretty sure that on gold it should kill too) and falconpunching all day long.

The crusaders strength is that it doesnt accel at anything, but is capable of everything, it cant out compete a widow for sniping or a claymore range but it is a middle ground inbetween

Use it like a Sniper, it can pull headshots from any distance because it only shoots one extremely accurate, high damage bullet.

The crusader was nice back before most of my other guns were above level V-VII, now it's just outclassed by most pistols. The only bonus to using it is you can drop the choke mod for a melee mod, so pretty much only really useful for my krogan sentinel, and I'd rather take my claymore X if I'm going to carry a shotgun.

... I hate you.
------------------
I was running into the problem with it on a human soldier where cannibals were taking to hits at     semi-mid range to die.  and the only way around that was adrenaline rush.  Its a terrible gun to be sure.  Im not sure if getting it or the Eagle III would have been worse.  I guess I'll just stick to my limited pool of guns like always:

Geth Plasma Shotgun
Mattock
Avenger
Predator
Phalanx
Carnifax

Don't hate me too much, I only got to play with it for 2 hours before the annual pass bug showed up, havent been able to play since :(

Exactly, plus it is fun. People only want guns which the destructive potential of a M920 and the recoil of a Locust, combined with the RoF of the GPR.

EDIT: Some people mention the Eagle being better than the Crusader. I will put this in capitals, so excuse me;

A WEAPON THAT AT LEVEL X DEALS LESS DAMAGE THAN A PREDATOR I AND SHOOTS SLOWER???? U KIDDING?

It fires a slug for precise shots. Used to use it on my Krogan soldier to deal with Guardians and take out enemies at a comfortable range with headshots. It was a good weapon before I unlocked better weapons (BW).

However, it's only effective through headshots IMO. It's weight is a huge detractor, and you'd be better off using a Carnifex, Paladin, or SR, as they are in most cases lighter, more effective alternatives. Plus if you get a Graal, you have no need for the Crusader for ranged Shotgun mayhem.

^Played it just how Serkevan said, though once I got the feel down, it made a half decent "sniper" in a pinch.

I really enjoy using those shotguns, totally wreck stuff with them on my HS. I would have liked to see how the Crusader compares.

I do use the GPS very successfully at medium-long range.

The Crusader has half the power, infinitely more recoil, an awkward reticle, and a long reload time. That's how it compares. Oh, and don't forget a ton more weight. It weighs as much as the Widow.

I enjoyed it in SP, but it sounds like after testing it in MP I wouldn't have decided it was worth using :/

If the mobs are lined up you can because it will hit multiple targets with one shot if they are all lined up.

I played a bit with it and I really just want to like it... But it just doesn't compare

If it were to weigh less than the GPS, but heavier than the graal I'd be like okay, I like it for what it is.

But there is no reason why it weighs more than a female krogan!

Also it gets owned by the shield gate.. Being 1 slug (seems to be) makes killing nemesis a feat and a half sometimes. For a weapon that takes 2 weeks to even have a chance to level.. It's not great

:sad panda:

It's really hard to aim at close range and theres no bonus for hitting things close range as opposed to long range, so theres no reason to go close range with it.

How many times have you tried using the GPS then? With just a small charge it can take down non-shielded enemies in one shot as long as you actually hit them. And even then, I never said I didn't charge the GPS for those kills, but I know how to charge it enough to use only one shot while dealing max damage, which means I can get more reliable kills faster without having to reload than with the Crusader. So honestly, I'm not sure what your problem is.

Try it on a human solly (if/when we can ever get back online) with adrenaline and you'll see why I like the Crusader, you can practically kill an Atlas with it in 8 shots (4 + adrenaline for another 4) and chews through Guardian shields like butter - the damned thing is lethal... it does have one HUGE downside though, it's completely useless if you've got the slightest amount of lag. Lag even slightly and it WILL miss, almost every time :(

You don't have to be terrible at the game to hate the crusader. If you like to actually use your powers in a timely fashion, prefer to fight tougher opponents, and like to be able to get more use out of a weapon than a bulky four shot pistol, then you probably won't like the Crusader much...or at all.
