Sounds good. The main reason why I didn't really include any extraction ones is because quite a few people don't care about extraction. They'll just die after completing the objective on wave 10. These "tough extraction" events would only make that more likely. There needs to be a bigger incentive to extracting before I can see this being popular.DaoFerret wrote...
also ... since we're all brainstorming:
Solar Flare Detected: All TC (player, Hunter, Phantom), is on the fritz this wave due to spontaneous increase of extraneous supra-luminal particles.
You Should Have Your Eyesite Checked: Due to Mirrage conditions, accuracy is cut in half for the wave.
Eezo leak Detected: All biotics and tech powers have double damage for the round.
Intelegence got it wrong, fix their mistake: After completing one of the "4" objectives (transmitters, enemies of interest), an extra one (a 5th) pops up.
Inbound Extraction Shuttle Needed to Shake Enemy: In the last 20-30 seconds the team is informed the extraction shuttle came under fire and needed to pull off, and shake an enemy fighter. It will take them another 30 seconds to get to the Extraction Zone. (Alternatively: Move the zone also? Only let them know when the timer has run down to zero and give them a minute to get to a new point?)
Extraction Zone Secured: The shuttle got there early, and dropped off an allied team securing the extraction point (with mounted cannon(s)?), to make sure your team makes it out alive. Same as usual extraction, but with a second team (that may pull in enemy) securing the zone with heavy weapons.
I've heard that people die instead of extract, but I've never seen it.
Maybe its because I play mostly on Bronze and Silver (with only a smattering of Gold), but to me (and aparently most of the randoms I've been lucky enough to play with), the extraction is part of the fun.
Also, I tried to balance the events as much as possible so you have the chance of things helping you as much as hurting you. (like the Secured Extraction Zone), It seemed too many of the events people were suggesting were just things to make it more difficult. There HAS to be the chance of things being easier also to compensate for the killer run of bad luck you might get.

Well the Enemy of my Enemy wouldn't change the number of spawns by much, just one spawn of secondary enemies at a different spawn point from your primary enemy. And since you effectively get endless enemies on objective waves, I don't think it will be a problem. For the Zombie Apocolypse, you might have a point, though Husk AI is very basic. They don't do anything other than charge you, so that would be less taxing on the server than normal enemies that shoot and roll and so on.donosaur wrote...
The only issue with the Enemy of my Enemy and the Husk Horde ideas is that there's surely a limit to how many AIs the software can support running around at once. I would hate for a bucket of husks to swarm the field and the game to bug out. However, a wave of constantly replenishing husks, or a modest squad of random baddies dropping in unannounced would work pretty well.
One possible hitch is that the devs would have to code how the different enemies would interact, and come up with rules for OHKs and so on.

I love the allied assistance (turians show up on condor for one wave etc) supply drop off, hack interruption, enemy of my enemy is great.
Others have come up with some too; toxic wave one, the not seeing your squad mates, taking control of an atlas, Eezo leak I love, shuttle crashing or getting interrupted somehow, triggers at the same time.
Sadly, I can think of none of my own right now.

These are awesome ideas...where were you when they were coming up with the ending??? Bioware needs to give this man a job!

I was thinking the same re: job.

Would also be fun if a "hero" could pop in for a wave. Even if he or she just made funny comments on the comm. (Elcor ambassador anyone? Blasto...visiting the troupes making a motivational speech? The consort singing Marilyn Monroe style?)
Or the war assets from single player..Kazumi dropping in for a mission, EDI providing air support or any other of the characters helping in some way. Kind of like a summoned creature that stays there for a while or wave. It does not even need great AI or teamplay. Just drop into a random group of enemies, kill/hack something and poof!

Totally!
Actually, if EA wasn't so greedy, I wonder what bioware could have done in the last battle. Like, if you had the geth, primes dropping in to help a pinned down squad somewhere else. Didn't have to be in your own battle, but as long as you could see them in action.
Pinned squad: "We're pinned down in the east!"
Anderson: "Shepard! Can you do something about that??"
Primes: "Admiral Anderson, we are in position to assist"
Then a cutscene or at a location that's out of reach, you see the primes and other geth dropping in and mopping up some geth. Maybe even some prime vs brute action.
Sigh...had so much potential and they had to rush the last battle.

The Enemy of My Enemy is Still My Enemy: During one of the later waves, you get a spawn of a group of the other enemy types. These enemies will fight both you and the enemies you had been fighting. Say you're fighting Cerberus, then out of the blue you hear a Banshee shriek and grab a Trooper and impale him. Could definitely spice up farming games, and also might make certain objectives easier as your enemies fight each other. But they don't prioritize anyone in particular, so if you're closer, they'll attack you instead.
This. I like this a lot. Many fun times would be had
Agreed
