What about the red sand ( i think that's the name) concept from me2, barrels that create fields that boost biotics but kill you if you stay in them too long. Would be a fun twist on the barrel idea.

I came up with a few more.

Clip Shortage:  Ammo boxes are empty for one wave.  After the end-of wave refill, there are no clips to be found on the map for one wave.  Hope you're well stocked with thermal clip packs!  This would force you to actually conserve ammo, and if you can't then you'll be spamming powers and melee a lot more.

And a few more faction specific ones:
Reapers -
Zerg Rush:  Ravagers have 50% more spawns for one wave, shoot twice as fast, spawn Swarmers at twice the rate, and the acid puddle they leave behind lasts twice as long.

Et tu Brute?:  Brutes appear in twice the numbers for one wave, and use their OHK much more often.

Cerberus -
Femme Fatale Squad:  For one wave, all Troopers are replaced with Nemesises and Phantoms.

Handyman:  For one wave, all Atlases have an attendent Engineer that follows them around and repairs them.  This Engineer doesn't set Turrets unless the Atlas is at full health/shields, and stands behind the Atlas, ensuring that whatever the Atlas is shooting at can't target him.  Flanking or area effects are necessary to kill him.

Geth -
Rocket Spam:  Rocket Troopers can shoot rockets at twice the speed for one wave.

Old School Primes:  For one wave, all Primes use a Geth Spitfire instead of their pulse gun.  It would have a one or two second warm-up, but be nearly nonstop once it started.  Very similar to what Primes did in ME2.

Bumpity bump bump. Excellent ideas, and people want PvP <rolls eyes>.

You should royalties if Bioware pick this up - any feedback from them?

Having the option to turn on and off random events would be good. Mainly for those who just want a vanilla match with no extras.

Or change it like the enemies and difficulty level.
For example:
Positive events only: -10-15% XP and/or Credits (because the events are good, its basically making your job easier)
Random events: 5-10% XP and/or Credits
Negative events only: 15-20% XP and/or Credits

I like the defensive deployment, it works like a double blades, it will be fun to have some around and it will definitely spice the game.

Honestly, this is one of the first suggestions that I really like. I think Bioware should really take a good look at this thread. Maybe we can think of more things to implement.

For example; extra objectives. We only got the hack/small hack/targets. I think this is a bit few. I was thinking of a 'capture the flag' variant, where we have to steel something from the enemy's base within let's say 2 minutes. This objective can be in wave 1,2,4,5,7,8 or 9 and just spices things up a bit.

I was also thinking about a random event like 'score 20/30/40 headshots/melees with the team'. If you make the objective, you will get a XP Bonus.

Well, I am just brainstorming, I haven't thought it trough. It's just that MP needs some extra stuff to keep it running for the next months. I'll think of some more things.

Something interesting I'd like to see - it would be cool if a random event had one actual single player character join you for a wave or two. After helping you for a bit they'd just leave instead of dying like the other reinforcement idea. Doesn't even have to be all of them, I just think it'd be awesome for someone like Liara or Tali to jump in and help you out.

Slightly off-topic, but my favourite Mr. Men character was Mr. Bump.

Thank you sir, for without your intervention I would not have seen this topic. +100, this would give MP so much more spice.

That's what I was going for.

Ahaha, I only noticed that "spice" was in the title after I posted, and I didn't feel like changing it :P

I'd definitely like to see a little more variety in the waves. On silver, we know that Wave 5 is where Primes/Atlases/Banshees show up for the first time. Phantoms first appear on wave 7, Brutes on wave 4, etc. It'd be pretty cool to hear that Banshee scream on wave 2 once in a while. They wouldn't show up in huge quantities or anything, but it would certainly mix up the feeling that you can really coast through Cerberus until 7, Reapers till 5, etc. Would keep you always on guard and add to replay value.

None yet, and I wouldn't be surprised if they've either been reading this thread without comment, or have come up with a similar idea already.  Everything that they've added thus far, I've liked.

Heh, believe it or not, I created a thread proposing the idea of branching power trees before ME3 came out.  I believe I posted it around the time Lair of the Shadow Broker was coming out, so ME3 was not in development yet.  I was really psyched to see that Bioware implemented my idea, if not exactly as I proposed it (I like their version better, mine was more lazy).  I posted it here if you're interested in it.

Being able to cherry pick your events kinda ruins the effect of random events, in my opinion.  It would be nice if it was something like this though:
No Random Events - No effect on XP/credits
Some Random Events - 10% bonus to XP and/or credits
Many Random Events - Twice as many events, 20% bonus to XP and/or credits

I like this one.  A team goal that goes beyond the main objectives.  "Secondary Objectives."  Sometimes the secondary objectives (which should be random, as the main ones are) will not be completable with the current team.  Like biotic kills when there's no biotics on the team, or the only biotic really sucks at killing enemies with them.  Sometimes the objective will be fairly easy, though, like complete this wave in five minutes for a bonus.

Other random game weather/environmental events during matches could include...

Sandstorms on Firebase Giant,  Blizzards on Firebase White - impairs player vision.
Power blackouts on Firebase Glacier - lab lights go off,  character flashlights come on.
Reactor overload on Firebase Reactor - vent pressure at various locations within time limit or everyone dies.
Taurian ships crashing on the map on Firebase Condor - watch the skies or risk getting crushed.

I'm sure there are many more possibilities on these and other maps...

Air Support! Shuttles strafing husks away and gibbing brutes!
Artillery strikes! Last ditch effort to hold the line. "All units, fire on my position!"
Friendly Fire is possible. No effect in buildings.

Reactor core overloads! Zone becomes toxic and lethal for all equipment and organics. Playing with objectives might redirect the venting exhaust.

Krogan unrest! A Krogan horde charges into the fray and beats up friend and foe alike.
