Oh, Diablo III. This game that 99% of Xbox and PS3 players don't care about because it's not on their precious $600 brick. And which may or may not be a disappointment like other games that have been in development for a long time. *cough*dukenukem*cough*

Yes, we have dismissed that claim.

hold your horses there. my precious brick only cost $300.  over $2000 if you staret counting all my games though

I can see Max Payne 3. I won't be playing it anytime soon due to recent financial priorities (see my girl graduate from USMC boot!), but it's a popular series from a popular developer/publisher. GOT is going to fall on its face, calling it now. Same with Ghost Recon. Can't really make a call on Dragon's Dogma and Atelier Meruru. They'll probably do ok for a late spring release in their genres.

Diablo 3, while I'm sure many will move on to play it, doesn't fit the majority of ME players.

Anyway, these threads need to die. Those posting them obviously can't wait to move on, and they should. For those of us on PC who will still come back time to time or continue to play because they don't have mommy and daddy funding their lives anymore or have other responsibilities financially, I'll see you all online.

Pfffft, so, you REALLY think people who play TPS-Action will switch to Action-RPG? So naive, sir, so naive.

I never said anything of the sort. I was only clarifying OP's post.

All games are dead to me on my 360. It won't stop overheating. Soon as I click Multiplayer I get hit two red rings :( . At first I thought it was only ME3 doing it but I tried Skyrim BAM got hit with two red rings soon as I try to load.

R.I.P ME3, Skyrim, MGS HD Collection :(

Just wait for Windows 8. It's supposed to be able to play Xbox 360 games.

I find these games two different types of games. I'm playing me3 because I'm getting my fps/third person shooter fix. And this is my favorite game for that. But if I want sword and magic, click to move, button masher type of rpg, then I will play and try d3. Ill More likely head toward gw2 but I'll try d3. If I play d3, I'll end up probably buying all the best items from the auction house/market with real money :S

I like both, and will be switching to Diablo 3, a game I've been excited about since it was announced. Umad?

LOL Max Payne 3, GRAW,  Dragons's Dogma, just to list a few titles to hit console in the next few weeks.  Mass Effect does not stand a chance.   All we can do is hope the next installment of ME MP will be much more polished and functional than this beta version we have paid to test for them.

Like the above player said, it wasn't $600.
I paid $400 for my laptop and it's double that of my 360.

That said, I'm just waiting for something worthwhile to come along before I trade ME3 in. Whether it be Diablo III or not, I have no idea, but Bioware is simpy not the quality developer that they used to be, unfortunately.

This topic has been posted and discussed at length here.

Read first to avoid redundant arguments.

Most of this thread and much more are discussed and some pretty interesting concepts are also discussed.

Having played the Diablo 3 beta (both closed and open) I will not be buying it. The combat system is boring, feels dated, and has been made far to simple, and not enough customizable choices.

I'm much more excited for Torch Light 2 since it will have multiplayer, just wish it had server side character storage instead of client side. Cheating is going to be rampant unless you're playing with friends, same problem Border Lands has.

You are in the minority me thinks.   I personally know at least a dozen d2 loyalists that will flock to this game and play it whether it's polished or not.   Very similar to this ME 3MP actually.   Both are completely dependent on existing fanbases, and they are both very unlikely to draw in new gamers if they don't hit a homerun.

O.k. so even though I bought D3 and plan on playing it constantly, it doesn't mean I won't play this. Two different genre's that aren't even in direct competition to each other. Does it make you feel better to think that your favorite upcoming game will somehow kill the previous game you played?

People still play CoD4, Halo 3, etc on a regular basis so this theory is full of fail.

Hopefully all the credit glitching chumps will move on to that game and try to exploit it into oblivion and leave us in peace.

Implying that console users would flock over to PC and "kill Mass Effect 3 co-op"  just to play Diablo 3? Your logic, sir, is flawed.

Yeah and people still pull out their nintendo's from time to time and play mario.  Dead for a MP game means that the general community has moved on, not that it does not exist.   Taking someones claim to an extreme is not an argument.   The gist is that the majority of players who have played this online for the last 2 months or so will gravitate to other titles, not necessarilly seeking to replace that game with the same type of game,  merely a different one.

I didn't stop playing MW3 to play Skyrim because it was a better version of MW3.

The majority of the fanbase for D2 is not the majority, or even half, of ME3 in all likelyhood.  Back then, yes, you could see an issue.  But times have changed so much, and a very significant chunk of gamers probably have never heard of Diablo.  Factor in that this is just for PC and, well, it really isn't going to be a major issue.  Combined with Max Payne, I can see some pressure, but that happens all the time with games.

People will come back though.  There is a lot of dead time between now and the fall.  Nothing major is being released between MP3 and the fall to my knowledge.  All these other games, especially GRFW, haven't been marketed enough to be largely successful.  They will still sell ok, but only that.

Once fall rolls around, things will dry up big time.  A new Halo, Bioshock, BLOPS2, RE6, and Far Cry 3 (opening the fall lineup if I recall correctly).  But until then, things will stay fairly healthy, as long as BioWare starts rolling out fixes soon.

Umm...For those of us who have played multiple Bioware games (even before Bioware was really the headlining developer/distributor)...Yes. If you played the original ME, it was an RPG with 3PS built around it. For those of us who played ME2, same thing. Don't believe me? Go back and play it. Not really a streamlined "TPS-Action" sort of game. It was an RPG with TPS trappings. ME3 is fun, but the least "rpg" of all the ME releases, or, of all Bioware's majority of releases.

So, that would mean that a company that the RPG, been-a-fan-of-Bioware for a decade crowd has been dedicated to has now been invaded by the hordes of let's-go-play-that-awesome-new-TPS-bro crowd that you and so many readily identify with. So yes, when D3 hits, I will be playing it. In fact, a large portion of the ME3 fan base will go with it. There's enough rage over the ending, tech issues, and the fact that the store sucks to draw die hard ME fans away from this Battlefield 3 clone, wanna-be RPG.

And yes, I'm lowering myself to posting in this troll thread because I'm pissed that it's been 48 hours since I've been able to log in. Come, D3, come... And yes, I'm a PC 'leetist. You console fanboys are really all under 16, or lack the IQ to actually build a decent computer rig yourself.

How was it the least RPG of the three?  It put back some of the RPG elements, even if they were still watered down.  Better combat does not make a game less RPG.

It always confuses me that according to the internet, people are only allowed to play one game and like on genre. You apparently have to finish with whatever you were playing and completely move onto the next, if you like another.

Yep, and that you can only play consoles or only play PC, that you can't enjoy EA games and only love Valve games, and that traditionally single player games can't expand into multiplayer in any way.

The word you are looking for is circlejerking.  Sweddington1 being a chief example.

1. RPG involves exploration. They completely gutted the exploration of planets element that I loved in ME and ME2
2. Far less "side" quests. It seemed to me that I was pretty "locked" into the narrow stream of the main story without the ability to "explore."
3. Changed scroll-wheel dialogue options. No "third/middle" option. Either "paragon" or "rogue" options. No middle ground. No nuance. Furthermore, the "special" dialogue options (paragon/rogue) seemed forced, and added no "story" to the actual interaction.

I could go on, but in the end, it comes down to this: ME3 was a quick "wrap up" and end to what had been great storytelling. It was wrapped up to make room for multiplayer and capitalizing on the store system. Bioware is not the great company it once was (you will find no bigger fan of their previous work than myself).

Instead, here come the hordes of fanboys, pockets dripping with mom and dad's weekly allowance. No story. Just smash. Shoot it. Oohhh, did you see that headshot? Ooohh, so much X-box 360 e-peen!

I enjoy multiplayer, in general.  I usually have to leave for the day when I start getting overwhelmed by the e-smell of hormonal rage fests over who's developing peen unit is bigger... the guy with the widow x or javelin V.
