Is it just me or does anyone else think that getting a cloaked damage bonus for using a power is slightly (read completely) stupid. I know there will be outrage from the Infiltrators around, but it just seems really dumb (and an interesting way of rebalancing the Infiltrator would be to get rid of it, if you were so inclined).

I mean bonus damage for throwing a sticky grenade? How so? Because the enemy didn't see where it came from? I can justify the weapon damage bonus being that you target vulnerable spots because you "have" more aiming time...but the power damage, not so much.

It also makes it awkward to balance future infiltrators based on what damage dealing powers they get. As it stands any damage dealing power is immediately better on an infiltrator.

As for Sabotage itself, why was it necessary to make it deal so much damage? Surely having a debuff effect that prevents enemies from shooting you is a desirable outcome (and actually scales well across difficulties). Out of interest how long are weapons prevented from shooting (if they even are given that the description of it is unclear)?

Anyway the sabotage buff is great for QI's but it seems to highlight some pretty stupid synergies in the game.

Weapons are prevented from shooting? Only when they stagger from the overheat, they start shooting once they recover. So it doesn't prevents people from shooting, the damage buff is necessary

Yes, but it's not goign to kill pretty much anything, especially on gold or silver, all by itself with one cast. All that needs to be done is it needs to be hit by something, anything and the credit goes to whoever hit it last.

If you just sit there and spam it on things to kill them without ever at least shooting them or something once before you kill them, then yeah ur losing the XP.

Hmm, ok.  It seems like they really missed the point of the power then.  Why wouldn't they keep it similar to what it did in ME1 (i.e. small damage, weapon overheats and makes it unuable for a period of time = not getting shot at (seems like a good power to me)).  I don't mind the fact it does some damage, I just think the purpose of it shouldn't have been to cause damage first and formost. 

Apparently freezing someone solid doesn't do any damage at all, go figure.

Which was why everyone was raging about how weak QI are. Sabotage doesn't stop people from shooting, it staggers them, do a little damage and that's it. I like the buff, and how it affects Phantoms. Annoying buggers can now be staggered sometimes by Sabotage.

The introduction of Thermal Clips probably made overheat not much of a problem I guess, you can just pop the clip and you are back to firing fine.

That's exactly what enemies in ME2 did when you overheated their weapons with Overload or Disruptor ammo :)

I've been using it in tangent with the Arc Pistol, since the stagger and backfire lets me get charged headshots on just about anything within medium range, on Silver and Gold. Additionally, if I wanted, I could just rapid-shot-tag multiple enemies and AOE sabo - regarding things, I've been considering switching to the Falcon or the Striker just for the AOE scatter damage, on the concept that I could be using just those weapons + Sabo to kill things.

This works 'okay', on paper, but the thing that's giving me pause is that this combination, funnily enough, is actually the worst decision to go with against Geth. Sabo's damage component, when you spec for it, is pretty amazing when fighting reapers or cerberus, but the AI jacking mechanic on turrets, atlas and Geth has been pretty disappointing ever since they nerfed the AI hijacking component awhile back.

Kind of feel like they buffed the wrong thing; the damage now almost seems *too* good, and the AI hacking component seems a little weak; I would have liked to maybe see AI hacking be more responsive, leaving the duration and the resistibility alone, effectively allowing you the same hack time, but making your hacked enemies start shooting at things faster.

Of course it wasn't only for hacking, it's just the delay between when you use it and when the backfire happens was too long. now it's not too long and is wonderful.

Because back when it was good at hacking it was the only ability that could singlehandedly break the game.  Did that really need to be pointed out?  Backfire was always good, now its retarded good.

Umm.. yeah? My point was that I think Bioware may have forgotten this when looking at backfire, maybe because you normally don't think of sabotage as a direct damage dealer. I don't know, just seems weird that they would make it this powerful. It's good on gold, must be ridiculous on silver, killing troopers everywhere.


It's probably like with Sticky Grenades. While you cloaked or decloaking you get +dmg bonus.

How is it retarded? Salarian has ED that strips shields, now QI gets something similar.

Sabo isn't restricted to only being effective against shields. Even energy drain was very inefficient at getting past shield gate on a variety of enemies.

I lol'ed

Sabotage is underrated. It can stagger organic enemies and stops phantoms from pew pew ing for awhile. It's always hilarious seeing a trooper get stunned and damaged by its own weapon lol

Yet energy drain restores your shields while sabotage doesn't. Problem?? Really does seem like another case of "NERF ALL THE THINGS!"
