Hardly. Th gameplay sucks, the Ui sucks, the lack of proper info for stuff makes it painful. It is overall crap and demanding $15 for this crap is just lulz.TinuHawke wrote...
People really need to understand that it is an mmorpg and not Elder Scrolls VI. A lot of mmo's still work with a subscription model. We'll see in a few months if it'll stay the same. If you don't want to pay, then don't (& don't play).

Hell there are people hwo have not played the beta who defend this crappy MMO. I wish I could get all those yhours wasted on the beta back, could have spent it on raiding in TOR and playing the awesome starfight mode in it then getting a headache in Bugville Scolls online.spirosz wrote...
The reason people are defending it is because it has Elder Scrolls in the title.

"Meeeeeehhhhhhhhh"
Its combat was unresponsive
Its UI was garbage
Its quests were uninspired
The quest rewards were not geared in any way around the player, nor were loot drops right
That being said the VO was okay, the area design was impressive, and it was cool in places.
However as an MMO it robs players of the open world aspect that let people go everywhere and is nowhere NEAR worth 15 bucks a months after a 60 dollar purchase.

Gonna sit back and watch as it gets mauled by WoW as they always are in the end. TOR at the very least had the class stories to keep me intrigued, even today.
I hear there's a massive update for TOR, story wise

I played the beta for a little myself. I found it leaving for the most part, and definitely not worth retail+ subscription. Mainly for reasons already stated.

Yes, but its classes are ambiguous. During the beta, my "sorceror" got the "wrong" loot because an argonian gave me a posioned dagger. But for the way I played my character, that dagger fit very well and I was happy with it.

I feel like the final reward in a questline, especially in this format, should probably be taliored towared something actually usable by the class. And all classes aren't ambiguous, especially not in this format. In a normal ES game maybe, but not as a MMO.Joy Divison wrote...

It's been a while since I've played Oblivion, can you tell me specifically what loot was tailored to your class? I recall getting lots of swords and armor when I made a mage.
Of course, this could have something to do that in order to level effectively as an mage build, you actually had to key skills that had nothing to do with being a mage.

Well of the top of my head, when you rescue the count of Chedynhall(orwhatever)'s son you get to pick from multiple rewards. Plenty of questlines like that. Not just a few quest, but questlines.Joy Divison wrote...

Giving the player a chance to select their own reward isn't the same thing as the game running an algorithim and deciding X would be a more appropriate loot than Y. The game isn't tailoring the loot; it's offering the player a choice. It has the desirable effect and perhaps that is what ESO should have done. But when Oblvion doesn't offer a choice, which is usually, you get what you get. The Siren's Deception will give you a dagger, rescuing Dar-Ma gave you a boost in mercantile no matter how irrelevant the skill was to your character, and the Forlorn Watchman bestowed a bunch of gold, some jewelry, and a random weapon.
And Skyrim works pretty much the same way. Because of the ambiguity in the class system, it's difficult for a game designer to predict beforehand what would be appropriate for my "sorceror". Especially in a game that has crafting which means what loot that actually worked with my character will probably (or soon) be inferior to what I would be able to craft myself.
I'm not saying the ESO got it right. In fact, I specifically told them in my feedback that their loot rewards needed to be conspicuously better precisely because more often than not what we do get won't be ideal and too often we'll be able to craft something better. But let's not pretend previous TES games have a track record of granting players appropriate loot that Zenimax screwed up on

Once you get past the starter zones you'll find this is a massive game world. You can go anywhere you want, do whichever quests you find interesting. If you come across enemies that are too challenging to handle by yourself, simply partner up with a friend or two.

I don't quite understand what you are asking for. Any class can use any kind of weapon or armor. You make your own class and you decide what you want to use. You can start out using a two-handed axe, then later decide to switch to healing staff, or bow, etc.
And whether you are using a specific weapon or not, the quest rewards often have traits you can research in the crafting workbench. Alternately, if they are higher quality you may be able to break them down and get tempering materials, or sell them in your guild store.

I know you can break down/research loot that is "wrong." Which is part of the reason why the "wrong" loot critque is hardly an issue to get worked over aside from the fact that sometime the "wrong" loot is in fact ideal loot.
However Zenimax decides what loot to reward, what you get should be noticably better than what you've already got or can craft. That way when you do get something that actually fits your character, you are genuinely excited about it. Most of the stuff I got was *slightly* better than my level and just meh. The argonian's dagger I received was *way* better than I had/could craft and thus genuinely made me happy i did that quest.
