What exactly does "real time combat that gets rid of rotations" mean?

In a game like World of Warcraft you would have this. (Crap load of abilities)

http://www.google.co...363977133120400

WoW use's a cooldown and resource system to prevent people from spamming abilities.  If I were say a Hunter I would open with the same ability always and then use another ability after it and repeat until the target is dead. Basically a rotation. I haven't played in years so I don't know what's been changed.

Elder Scrolls Online sounds like it's improving on that. A rotation would quickly get boring. Worrying about just mana/stamina sounds much better if they can pull it off.

So after all this time it's just another MMO but with ES in the name. Still a quilt of zones rather than the open world ES games are known for, still instanced dungeons requiring multiple players,

There are apparently open world dungeons as well.

On the trinity from what I understand any class can fill any role and can respec into a role on the fly.

Even though this game sounds great, I'm not looking forward to it. Don't get me wrong, the Elder Scrolls is a great series, but transferring it to an MMO...I don't know, I don't like the idea.

They have some cool concepts, but it seems they just a repeat of other MMOs that have failed. For example, I don't remember this games name, but if your would to be the top of the PvP scoreboard then you would have a bounty on your head and you could control the time of day and the weather. Anyways, that game didn't go so well (well IMO). Kind of the same concept with the emperor, but without the pluses. I also think that the emperor thing is going to ****** some people off and then comes the rage quitters.

Another thing I think is repetitive is the whole "army vs. army" thing for the empire. In my opinion, its a copy of WvWvW in Guild Wars 2 (although GW2 is a very successful game).

One last thing is that I think that most, if not all, the classes are going to be OP and get nerfed a lot where people are going to upset at. I mean, the whole "free form" class thing like in the series is going to lead to problems. Example: if done right, a person playing one of the consle games can make a mage with all there DPS spells and with a high defense rating. If this can be done in the MMO, then all hell will break loose in PvP. You will get people to rage quit the game and if you nerf that "class", then you have people quitting the game because they worked so hard on the character they just dumb down and don't want to spend time making a new character.

I'm not bashing on the game in anyway...well not trying anyway. I'm just giving my opinion on how the game looks so far and predicting on how the game is going to play out once it release, but most of the time I wrong when trying to foreshadow events :P
I might just actually play maybe after couple of months after the release. With the ol' saying goes, "Don't knock it till you try it!"

Realm vs Realm goes back much further than GW2. The grand daddy of it is Dark Age Of Camelot, which is what TESO is based on more than GW2, given that Matt Firor, the producer of TESO, was also one of the people behind DAOC.

The RvR part of the game promises to be much better than WvW has turned out to be in GW2 with clearer goals and character progression right from the start, and hopefully with better programming than GW2 given the mess in that game with culling and skill lag.

Ture, ture. But any MMO with a "free form" class system get indivdual powers/abilties get nerfed a month after launch. For example, played Champions Online , which classes has (well kinda where) "free form" when it frist was released and after a month or so they nerfed the Personal Force Field (PFF) because people where complaining about it in PvP, making DPSers an instant tank. I was one of those people, but I mostly PvEed, who characters became unplayable who used PFF because of it being dumbed down and I was upset.

I love how everyone is saying the game is now terrible based a on an early beta low resolution badly played walkthrough. It looks pretty much exactly like morrowind with better graphics, right down to the interface.

It's a beta not an alpha. A lot of the problems are having with the video is because a lot of the design choices are pretty much set in stone.

What design flaws are visible from that video?

If anything, I'm actually astonished they decided to stick SO MUCH to the Elder Scrolls interface/gamestyle (apparently).
My point is, if they can pull it off, incorporate ES gameplay into an MMO game, they've done theor job well and the game should hopefully be a success.

The crappy interface. Finally get a PC exclusive Elder Scrolls and it still has a **** interface. Terrible dialogue with bad lip sync and bad voice acting. Animations look really bad and graphics look angular and from a game in 2007 not 2013.

We're pissed at how bad it looks considering it's supposed to launch this year. A lot of people want the game to succeed including me but this looks like another Old Republic.

Oh, I finally got to see it. Really, that's it? The damn hands don't even show while in first person mode. And animations and visual style seems really half baked. I mean, seriously, we are about to launch in the next generation of gaming and this is the best they can do? I don't know... to me this game is screaming disappointment. Too generic in a general sense.

I didn't even mind visuals. What depressed me was the this very strong impression I can imagine exactly how the game plays and what it feels like to play it.
...Answer to both being JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER UNIMAGINATIIVE MMO/LOW-EFFORT ACTION RPG OUT THERE.

TOS games really should be designed with 1st person in mind, 1st and foremost. It'd bring pretty exiting tactical elements to PvP combat and stuff. I realize this is early beta and all..but still, doesn't promise anything at all how 1st person is just a floaty camera gliding about just as it is in..say, WoW.

In this day and age, I claims it is almost impossible to make 3rd person WASD mover that people find entertaining. It is just so tiresome. Every potential MMO playing person has played more than their fair share of such engines.

Personally, hope they catch and place the Player under the jail that released the footage. Be the gameplay actually be good or bad, these kinds of lying dung beetles make it worse for everyone.

For me, simply decided not to watch....

What led you to think otherwise?  They aren't trying to attrach a niche RPG auidience, but a mass auidence.  That means lowest common denominator.  Whatever vague promises they made to keep true to random aspect of Morrowind that hardcore fans appreciated is just marketing BS.  You are a member of Bioware's social community and presumably a customer, so it's not like this development should be surprising...

Ehh, MMORPG market is so savagely oberbloated with releases that essentially look and play like  they might as well all be different mods of the same goddamned game. Considering how playing one is bit more like a hobby within a hobby than just playing a game, it is just a  very bad idea to go for " wellp, everybody liked this in WoW and GW2!!" -  approach. It isn't a genre like ADHD shooters or whatnot, where people are perfectly willing to switch to a new game every other season.    I kinda have a strong impression that despite beinfg curious to try new MMOs, people rarely properly switch MMORPG to a similar one... they just  rather quitt/take a break from the hobby  entirely.   This kinda has led to situation where I'd like to think persistent  masses are to be found via niche. Just think of Eve Online's steadily increasing 500k+++ sub base and how it compares to clusterhumpatstic flops of latest typical 'wow killers', SWTOR comes to mind.

Still I'm not exactly surprised no. But just enough to manage to be disappointed;l But hay game is still in early beta who knows maybe something good comes oiut of it somehow for some reason. Really tho, no;l

While I'd agree that such conformity is a waste of time and resources, that's just the way mass marketed entertainment rolls.  Once someone hits upon a successful formula, everyone's out to copy.  That's why 90% of rock bands in the 1980s sounded like pale imitations of Led Zeppelin and 90% of rock bands in the 1990s sounded like cheap Nirvana rip-offs.

There is a reason why the beta tester application had so many MMO game experience questions; they do not want to deviate too far from established core features and are building ESO for that audience.

I dunno I dunno. That rings true enough if it's 2006 or so. People have copied WoW over and over and over again over the years. Objectively speaking about 2-4 games have done really good job I guess.. Even those have failed reasonably miserably; nobody has been able to maintain a growing sub base. Meanwhile, harcore and niche as all the hell Eve Online has been growing slowly and steadily for longer than WoW  grew. .Up until point where it is actually bigger than most expensive MMORPG ever made in terms of active paying subs.

Yes, but this is simply an expression. My desire is that the ones that broke the agreement receive the full weight of penalties such a pledge allows. If jail time is included, so be it.

This is worse than the actual video.
