To the OP : You still have to max your AA and GI, so the SP and PSP are still useful :D

I love that when I made sense and offered an easy solution to the topic in question, the naysayers just disappeared.

We're probably looking at the part of the mp population that once raided wow just for the gear. Fun was probably never in the equation.

As for my part, I'll keep playing mp, long after Diablo 3 comes out, so long as Bioware allows me to and as long as my clanmates do. I like the gameplay.

Who says the game isn't or wasn't fun?  It's just that the fun is dying and fast.

...and it seems those who have the worst luck/drop rate of N7/Black/Ultra-rares are those who have already maxed all of their gold/rare weapons.  I only play a few hours each night and can buy 2-3 PSP a day if I play mostly golds, but I still receive on average 2-3 ultra-rares a week while PSPs are available.  I have received 17 total black/ultras so far, which is more than double, or even much more than those who maxed out their Golds/rares before PSPs came out, or several weeks ago.  The current store seems to penalize those who max out all golds and drops ultra-rares at an even more reduced rate than those still upgrading golds/rares.

Well, consider me among one of the unluckiest ones :P However, two friends of mine who have N7 level of 1000+ and have maxed their rare and gold weapons, mentioned to me that the ultra rare drop rate is higher at N7 1000 above compared to below it. Since I have only 360 (and not planning to go further lol), I guess I could consider some truth in it. Whether this is a true fact or not I'm not entirely sure. It may be a bit unfair for people who don't have a lot of time to play multiplayer but want to get a chance at the ultra rares. But oh well, I'll continue playing since it's fun goofing around with friends :) (and until I get that Scorpion! ><)

Not true unfortunately.  There is nothing you can do to improve your chances of N7's, it is completely luck based and random.

I'm rarely "that" type of gamer, but I think I'll be done when they continue the trend of having the "superstar"class (Geth shotgun infiltrator) followed by classes with skills that pale in comparison. It makes me want to stick to those top tier classes, which causes me to "play them out" If the GI gets nerfed and things like cryo blast/sentry turret/fortification don't get improvements ill be done soon afterwards. I WANT to play other classes and have them be as viable as an Asari adept, but it's rarely the case

This isn't a thread about either or though, when was that question even asked?  I certainly didn't bring it up and I'm dealing with the issue of the thread.  Of course I want new modes/mpas/characters in the game and they'll come.

Read what I just posted above.  1 million is not easy to attain man, not even close.  Could you grind like crazy, every single night to make it quicker?  Sure, but even then, you aren't making much of a dent in that perceived sanctity of the ultra rares.  Oh, you're Javelin jumped from II to V in a month, big friggin deal??!!  How does that break the game or the system if it took you a month of playtime to even gain the credits needed for that amount?

Dude, you went off topic there in the first place...

The reason why people here are disagreeing with you is that you are defending this idea with, simply put:

"I ran out of stuff to farm, I don't like the game if I can't see a carrot in front of me that I could farm. Remaining stuff us hard to farm and carrot may or may not appear. Make it easier to farm."

You surely won't make your point to BW, as you are presenting a logic where if they get behind with providing content, you'll leave. The current system is giving you farming opporturnities, you just don't like the RNG in it.

If farming content is what keeps you going, you won't play this game for much longer even if you'd be given the pack you so desire. Bioware knows this, that's why they won't prioritize it... methinks... and you can nerdrage all over it if you wish :P

Current system is not adding longevity. It's making people who realize the flaws of it, discouraged and frustrated and they're no longer playing. I have 20 people I played gold with regularily and almost all of them barely touch the game now for this exact reason. No progress to show for their effort.

Uhhh... sorry have to pick up on the bold part there. What kind of progress do they want to show? That they posses a gazillion weapons like some crazy drug overlord? What about the ranking system? They could show easily progress there.

I agree here, and find it amusing that (generally) the same people who steadfastly refuse to promote their level 20 classes, and focus entirely on loot accumulation, are the ones complaining about how there is no incentive to keep playing.

Unless new loot items are periodically added, or (as is currently the case) the drop rates are made extremely rare, there will eventually come a time when there will be *nothing* for these types of players to work for.  For those players who like to shamelessly promote their level 20 classes, there will always be something to work for, as there will always be someone higher on the N7 leaderboards.  Or, if you're on the top, someone catching up.

Bronze and Silver are zero challenge, even to solo and there is no point in promoting characters.  Absolutely none.  I fine it laughable that people have to make up excuses when the reality is staring them in their face.  The promotion system is stupid and holds no incentive to restart, other than to try new builds.  I haven't needed to do this, or wanted to in a really long time.  What's the point?  Then I have to take the time to redesign their costumes again, as well as name them.  If promoting characters is how you imaginarily create replayability then go nuts, but you're just fooling yourself.

There's "no point" to a lot of things - including arguing with people on internet forums.  We do it, nonetheless.

I'm not fooling myself.  How one finds replayability is subjective, as well.  Your complaining because you've chosen to use a finite metric for measuring your replayability (equipment unlocks) and denigrating my infinite metric (promoting classes) just shows that your goal in playing the game is different from mine.  Which choice has the greater potential for long-term enjoyment of the game?  Perhaps you should ask yourself that, before you so casually dismiss mine?

Seriously this is the same "purist" mentality that makes me really dislike some nerds IRL. Dude, for some people getting new gear and doing well with it IS THE FUN. Just because I'm not playing the same tired FBWGG over and over and loving every minute doesn't mean the game wasn't fun. It also didn't mean that someone should ignore the total frustration involved with playing 15 games and not getting any upgrades you wanted. Sometimes the carrot IS the stick, and your purist attitude is particularly irritating.

The whole idea of a ultra rare is to be... uh, ultra rare, right? If we could unlock it easily, what's the point?

What they need to do is add useful things to replace the training cards, like more consumable, maybe different armors and customization stuffs, new mods, things that make you feel that most of the packs you buy was worth. But the ultra rares MUST have a low drop.

The problem with that is it would be like a jumbo equipment pack which cost 1/3 less if it was just consumables, but something along this track is better than just character cards, so it's not a bad idea per se.  Maybe a buffed super jumbo equipment pack that has 10 rockets/medi/ammo/spec ops and 2 Level III's of ammo/armor/weapon bonuses EACH which gives you a total of 6.

OR

You get an N7 weapon and a few or no consummables.

This way, you can stockpile bonuses as you go along and it least keeps you playing.

I am with you. It would be in their best interest. I used to spend left over money on my PSN cards during the weekend. I have not done this for a long, long time because there is no putting with getting character cards I have already maxed. I can't even get any more power reset cards so I use my credits for equip bonus and medi gels and such. Obviously not going to spend real money on this.

Add in a new gun for each type.

Add a pack that gives you a decent chance for N7 weapons and a very small chance to "promo type guns"

Take weapon mod levels to X. As well as add a special mod for each weapon type. SMG could be "fire rate increase" or "damage to shields and barriers" for example.

Add in a few new equip items and consumables as well.

Last, if you add some new characters (drell infiltraitor, drell infiltraitor) I will love you again.

It isn't that it is "hard" to farm, it's that no matter how much you try you may not have more carrots than the person who plays a tenth of what you do, that is a problem with the system no matter how you look at it.

Look, I don't care what your idea of fun is, but don't tell me that unlocking things in the game can't be a driving force for playing.

And if you read my post on the breakdown and proposed changes, yes it would keep me and many others who see it like I do playing for a lot longer.  At least we would have hope that our invested time would result in something, no matter what it cost. Not changing the system assures many players out there will leave soon, that is if they haven't already.  So call it what you want man.  It's an easy solution to a very obvious problem in the store system that takes very little to change.  It also doesn't take away anything in regards to rareness of the weapons, as it would take months for you to earn enough credits to actually buy them all in the packs I have proposed.

I've maxed all Ultra-Rares and i'm fine. I will never ever make progress again, i play just for fun. Maybe you should try it out too?

I did not intend to insult and how you choose to enjoy something is fine.  I guess I glazed over your post and grouped it with the ignorant others.  But in reality, there is no tangible reasoning to promoting characters outside of an imaginary enjoyment.  And again, that is cool.  But for people who like to be rewarded for their time in the system that the game has outlined, that being a store system where you earn credits to unlock items/weapons, there is no more fun or accomlishment in the current system.

My proposed changes do not denegrate your enjoyment of the game, they only would enhance it without changing your experience.

I seriously doubt there will ever be an N7 pack. Not sure I'd even want one. I like the idea of ultra-rare weapons being, well, ultra-rare!

What I wish they would do is fix the character cards so they no longer appear once that class is maxed and buff the ultra-rare weapons to reflect their rarity. As it is several of them are inferior to rare weapons, which with the current unlock system is a decision that's unfathomable to me. They could also introduce Silver and Gold consumables.

I agree with that, it most likely would work for greater benefit for majority of players with a very easy implementation. I would jump on the nerf-RNG-on-ultrarare train.

But on the other hand, you can't deny what it is like to be playing in a community focused on gathering funds as time effective as possible. You'll have leechers, people leaving during game, elitists, newbie flaming, kicks due to weapon/class selection... All of which were strongly present on start of ME3, I like it more now when the communite has cooled off a bit.

it's kind of funny actually to see people think they are somehow entitled to those weapons that are labeled 'ultra' rares.

if there was a pack that guaranteed one of them, they wouldn't be 'ultra' rares now, would it?

People thinking ultra rares are weak are incorrect.  Sure, at level 1 and 2 they are unpowered compared to their level 10 rare counterparts.  But levelled up above 5, you'll quickly see that they are generally the cream of the crop in each of their respective weapon categories.  I'm not going to break it down, but it's pretty plain to see.  Even the Wraith, if it was level 10 would be right at the top with the Claymore/Graal/GPS and would probably out DPS them as well.

At a million credits per pack, they damn sure would be.  Entitled?  No, but being rewarded for a time investment that far surpasses certain players is not something that should be out of the question.

Tell me how it is entitlement to think I should have more ultra rares than someone who hasn't played even a fraction of what I have?  Look throughout these forums and manifests and the results are evident.  I've seen a guy who has over 20 N7's and hasn't completed one uncommon or rare weapon.  I'm happy for the guy and I wish I had his luck, but that's ridiculous when I've spent millions and millions on the store and have 9 to show for it.

I would have liked a list of all the rare weapon that you can buy without having to deal with the random item bullcrap.

Just make the rare weapons really expensive, like in the singleplayer. It worked there, and you had a finite amount of credits, so why not do the same with the multiplayer? I hate saving up for a lot of packs, only to play lottery with a next to nonexistent chance to get something good. It just feels like a giant waste of time.
