Dear Bioware, I think I'm done until you release an N7 pack.

The problem as I see it is this. Once you max all weapons to X you will never see another Ultra Rare. Because it makes no sense to waste your money on Spectre packs. You just get characters you don't need. So, it makes sense to stock up on Vet and Recruit packs for all the little stuff.

That needs to change.

Yes because Rare weapons are rare, and Uncommon weapons are uncommon. Ohh wait, everyone who plays for a decent amount of time has already maxed out both. Maybe semantic arguments aren't going to get us anywhere after all.

I don't quite understand why everyone here is so happy about people leaving and the multiplayer dying. If everyone who plays just to unlock stuff leaves, who on your friends list do you think will be left? I don't play to unlock stuff, I play for a much sillier reason: to solo every faction on Gold. But people on my friends list who I used to play Gold with have mysteriously stopped logging in. I'm old enough not to be judgemental about why people play games, and I'd rather just play the game with these people than contemplate if they truly do play for the pure, morally good, acceptable reasons. People leaving because of the unlock system means less people playing the game, less new people coming in because theirs friends don't play, less money for Bioware from packs and thus less new content. I just don't quite see how that helps you out. I'd rather have more content and more people to play with than "be right" or just play with the self-righteous pure people.

What will you personally lose if they introduce a black rarity pack? You guys don't even have your uncommons maxed out, how would it harm you? I don't even believe for a second you will keep this opinion when you have maxed out the Gold weapons. There's exactly one person in this thread who has done so and still says "just play for fun". Everyone else with maxed out Gold weapons thinks this system sucks. Go figure. Do you think it's fun to spend millions of credits on character cards or something?

The whole idea of a ultra rare is to be... uh, ultra rare, right? If we could unlock it easily, what's the point?

What they need to do is add useful things to replace the training cards, like more consumable, maybe different armors and customization stuffs, new mods, things that make you feel that most of the packs you buy was worth. But the ultra rares MUST have a low drop.

Except that isn't the point.  The game does not reward you for playing more after a certain point.  It's a complete crapshoot and you are almost penalized for maxing everything, by having a theoretically lower chance of gettin the only weapons you still need.  If you don't think spending 3 million and getting nothing but character cards kills the fun, you're a liar.  It's stupid and it shows the obvious flaws in the system.  There needs to be an N7 pack that gives people the option to get things they don't have.  Price it at 500k, hell even a
Million is fine with me.  Just give me the damn option!!!  It's frustrating and ridiculous to play for that long and earn that amount of money and has absolutely nothing to show for it.

Open your eyes.

The only people who aren't complaining are casuals. People that still don't have their uncommons/rares maxed. They'll eventually agree with us once they realize how there's no longevity to this game reward wise. It just gets incredibly strenuous. I'm sure people will come back once new DLC is released since there'll be new classes to play and new things to unlock. But as of now? Just pure frustration for those of us who have incredibly bad luck with RNG.

What seriously puzzles me though... is why do the naysayers care enough to defend BW/EA? It doesn't make any sense. No one in their right mind thinks the current system isn't flawed and is "fun". Sure, it's fun the first few million credits... But get back to me 30mil+ later. And the whole "farmer" thing is also very puzzling to me. I managed to get all my uncommons/rares maxed playing Random/Random settings... If playing the game (albeit, more than the usual player) is considered "farming", then I really don't get it.

I read the first few pages and all I see are people going "stop QQing! the system is fine!", "stop farming!", "if you unlock everything you're going to get bored"... Why not just move onto another thread that doesn't concern you? How will them releasing an N7/Ultra Rare pack at 500k-1mil+ credits even affect you? All it'll do is make the game a little more fun for the hardcore players. Hell, make the pack 500k and give it a 50% chance of unlocking an Ultra Rare and I'd STILL be happy.

That's cool You've made valid points. I guess personally, I don't feel wronged or anything by BW. There are a range of players from perfectly happy to raging hater (although you wonder why some still play). I'd like to think that I am somewhere in the middle. I would of course like to see the number of players either rise or remain the same. I'd also like to see a rise in the quality of not just the product, but in the actual players.

Make no mistake... I am no apologist. I get why people are upset about the various things I see in this forum, but I think that in order to get through to BW, people will need to be more thoughtful about how they make requests (notice I didn't say demands or threats). It's hard enough trying to sift through the level headed people making valid complaints versus those raging and making blanket/generic statements about stuff.

Edit: I have my own complaints. Just search the forums for my posts. I don't have a problem with complaints, it's just an observation that I've made regarding how people approache the subject of game issues.

Thank you.  I mean the game is still fairly fun to play on its own, but when you have five million credits turned into an endless stream of chracter cards it really does drain the fun from the experience.  I really don't understand why people don't get that.

I have every weapon maxed out except the ultra-rares and honestly I have more fun now, playing a Drell Vanguard SPACE NINJA with something stupid like a Raptor equipped. It seems like the drop rate for Ultra-Rares used to be MUCH higher; I got three Talon, Scorpion, and Javelin upgrades long before I even maxed out my UNCOMMONS. In the past few weeks, I've gotten exactly two ultra-rares: Black Widow I and Wraith I.

The drop rate for them is so low that I simply don't care about money anymore. Which is why I can play silly classes or builds. At the same time, it feels really stupid that I don't think I'll ever have a maxed out Paladin before getting bored of the game.

They need to do something. Right now, unless I'm playing with friends the ONLY thing people play is Firebase White/Geth. Some of us knew about that over a month ago and have gotten really sick of it. Not only that, but random people I play with actually FAIL on FBW/Geth! How? I don't know, man, I really don't.

Maybe they could solve the issue by simply letting you buy a level X ultra-rare for $50. There are a lot of kids whose parents' credit cards are tied to their 360/PSN account who would buy those, and then maybe those kids would stop playing nothing but FBW/G over and over.

The thought of the the only people having rank X ultra-rares being people who have more money than sense sounds awful to me.

It sounds less awful to me than literally every Gold game being FBW/G.

I mean it, LITERALLY every time I search for a Random game that's what I get.

And if I host a game, either people who obviously aren't ready for Gold get dropped into it (because they did a search for "any difficulty") or they immediately leave because I'm playing a "non-optimal" class or using a "non-optimal" weapon or it's not FBW/G.

And then you have the games where literally everyone is carrying a Widow X which is just asinine, a team needs a mix, not 4 snipers who will get slaughtered on later waves when things actually start getting close to them.

Exactly. Its a huge dump on your face when you play steadily for 1 week, buy 10 PSPs and get 20 character cards.

I didnt feel the drag when I was still unlocking gold weapons (ie , in my 3rd week of playing), when the thrill was still good and forced me to try different guns. Having played the game alot, I KNOW what guns i want to try/use and what will simply, always be relegated to the scrap heap unless significant buffs come their way.

Im willing to wager most of the people defending the store system havent hit a plateau of max X gold weapons a month ago and having to face just a constant stream of character cards every single pack.

I'm glad the rationale here has changed from, bleh stop whining/QQing, to people actually understanding where most of us are coming from.

I messaged Jessica Merizan about this today actually and although I probably got the staple answer of I'll pass it along, she did message back about 3 times on twitter. We'll see.

True, but there really wasn't much of that going on in this thread if people took the time to read the posts.  It's a lot of constructive criticism and advice from people in the same boat.

Yeah, but at the same time, you have to understand that there have literally been hundreds of posts about this. I would say 85% (my guestimate) are not thought through or rational... just rants.

i read the first page and the last page (usual stuff, ppl complaining that n7s r too ****ing hard to get and the 'lol i just play4fun' crowd)

i left this game weeks ago in large part because of OPs problem. anyone who plays this game 'just for fun' congratulations, you are a minority in video games. there is a reason most games nowdays have levels and progress. gamers like to progress in their video games. it gives people a huge incentive to keep playing. once i finished all my rares my progress came to a grinding halt. i got tired of only unlocking characters, and eventually lost interest in the game.

i still read the forums to see what new stuff is happening, and i logged in for one match during exorcist for mah pack, but until i have a way to reliably get n7s, i wont be back :\\ too much other awesome stuff to play

EDIT: another huge reason i left was SMG ultralight materials being broken forever (and other issues the community complained about forever to get fixed). i dont care how long the solution was in the works or awaiting testing, bioware took too long to fix it. other games manage to fix their **** in a timely manner, im sure bioware can figure it out too

You know, I just accepted the fact that I'm never going to get upgrades for Ultra Rares that I want.  I'll either be plagued with upgrades for the Saber that I don't want or get something equally useless like the Wraith shotgun.

Only reason I'm buying PSPs at all is because I already maxed out all the uncommon and rare weapons that I give a damn about.

I strongly suggest using those Reset Cards you got to respec a few characters for the hell of it.  Believe me, once everything but the ultra rares is obtained, that's quite literally the only reason to keep playing.

I respec all the time and experiment with all kinds of builds.  Hell I've even promoted all my characters at once a couple times to freshen things up (I really don't care about my N7 rating now that iit's high enough that I don't get kicked for it).  But none of that changes that when I use the credits the game has given me as a supposed reward I never get anything other than useless character cards.  I'd actually prefer is they were all reset cards instead.  At least those have a use.

Are you still moaning?

If it bothers you that much, just stop playing

Youre obviously never gonna be happy, even if you had all the weapons.

If you dont enjoy the game on a base level then theres really no point in carrying on.

Is moaning and crying about something thats never going to change really how you want to spend your time?

Having maxed out everything other than the N7 weapons I have now gone through 40 straight PSP's and 20 straight SP's without a single Ultra Rare.  To say that this really pisses me off would be an understatement.  I have spent over five million credits on nothing but character training cards I don't need, and feel like I'm making zero progress.  And apparently now there is a rumor that once you have all your rares maxed N7's actually drop much less often.  So Bioware, you need to put in an N7 pack, and until you do so I think I'm done.  The ultra rare system you have in place is terrible, terrible joke.

You're seriously one of the stupidest people I"ve seen on these boards.  It's saying a lot.  EVERYONE POSTING HERE ENJOYS THE GAME ON A BASE LEVEL.  ARE YOU ILLITERATE?

I enjoy the game whole heartedly. But when I spend 5 mill after saving up for the past two weeks, and get 0 reward for my troubles, it gives me that "Defeated" feeling, and I just want to stop playing. And I usually do, for about an hour, before I end up turning it back on.
