honestly, grissom was not that hard, my first challenge I would say was the 3 primes on rannoch....

on insanity asa engineer its harder then anything { a fresh imported character of level 30{35now} with the weapons at iv its still wont be cake walk i tried every combination around and engineers are painfully under powered in that  area grissom  academy can make  really pain fl due the atlas and  the turrets if you don't get the first sab off and hope it kill some of the enemies in the middle. javik and one other to help put them down the mobs down fast

1. The final fight - banshees + brutes + reaper beam until I figured out to get the #$%^ off the street.
2. Post-tramway fight on Mars. Low level fight vs a lot of foes with not a lot of great firing positions.
3. Ring the bells on Tuchanka. My wife has zero issues with this but dear god that reaper just steps on me all the flippin' time.

-Marauder Shields. Seriously, did anyone play test this part on Insanity? This is just ridiculously hard on Insanity. You basically have to land all headshots and not miss, which is incredibly difficult with the interface screw.

-The final fight was damn hard until I realized I could use the reaper's beam to fry the banshees. I still have some issues because of the cover. Try to sprint, duck into cover instead, get killed by beam. Try to roll, duck into cover instead, get grabbed by banshee.

-The reaper on Rannoch took me far too many tries before I figured out what to do

-Grissom Academy, considering my first run was a Soldier on Insanity, was rather annoying. Infiltrator makes this mission an absolute cakewalk, though. Cloak + Valiant, combined with all the turrets just begging to be sabotaged... not even a fair fight.

-I've seen a few people mention getting stepped on by the Reaper on Tuchanka. I didn't even know this was possible. For one reason or another, it's just never happened to me. Maybe because I tend to just run right by the brutes with Cloak or A-Rush.

Rear pillar inside tram - quite good angles, relative safety from grenades, can swipe right flank and oncoming Guardians. Centurion's smoke screens are problem, but generally VS+Liara can see through smoke or at least hint you at proper direction. Not sure for other classes, but Soldier had little problems here, even without CE/DDE-pre-order weapons or Indra. Maxed IA or AP/WA and ample ammo supply should do the trick. Shuriken with IEA is especially effective here.

Of course not! It's ART, nobody playtest art.

Yeah, "do-everything" spacebar is one of worst game-design features I ever seen. At least the way it was implemented here.

I'm not sure for "stepped on" part, but at my very first playthrough I was a bit busy fighting Brutes and didn't noticed all that stampede around. I mean I noticed all that shake and moves, but I thought that was part of level design, to force us to fight Brutes, to prevent shortcuts.
On my second playthrough, I actually seen how Shepard's shield was totally discharged by that "near-hit" stomping (and I didn't even tried to run to button, I was just dodging Brutes on upper ramp) so on second button (and all subsequent playthroughs) I just waited till Reaper get his feet off my way and sprinted there, without fighting. With proper timing it's possible to evade "near-hit" stomps.

The fight to have MY Shepard imported from ME2 to ME3... Sadly this was harder by far than any battle in the game.

Hardest fight for me: Priority: Earth, Defend the missile cannon. The last two waves...first all these brutes (6 of them or so) then everything at once...3 banshees, brutes, canibals, marauders....my goodness. I died countless times....then I figured I could just activate the switch and be done with it. <_<

i didn't even know that is possible. Cool. Well, there is also a missile launcher in one of the rooms that you can use to fry up one of the banshees. Unfortunately, it's not a Cain....otherwise the fight would be easy...just fry everything at once!

Spacebar-magic-button was a pain in the butt! I tried to run away from banshees only to find myself slaptap against a wall or covering in plain sight. Yeah, there goes the survival chance! :?

Kai Leng's fight for me, until I realised you could repel his melee attack.

Second would be the 3 Geth Primes. I actually dread that bit. It seems you have to get lucky with cover and not have them crowd you out from all directions.

For this fight, I paraphrase Mr. Miyagi:

"Go right side? OK. Go left side, OK. Go middle? SQUISH, just like grape."

You have to pick a corner and set your squad up in cover properly. Pick the closest prime and blast the ever loving crap out of it as fast as possible to get barely enough breathing room to start working on the next. Note the part about setting the squad in cover properly.... make sure the two other primes dont have solid angles, or they will get dropped.

This one took me 5 playthroughs to finally figure it out.

When you first get into the pit with the brutes, yes, stay back and clear the first two.

Then.....  Pause the game and look up.

See which leg the reaper has raised.

As you approach the middle area, yes, he will stomp. Look up and then go to the side which he does NOT have raised. He will still try to stomp that side just before you get on the path to the Hammer switch, so be ready for that (walk slowly after clearing the brutes, and wattch the ground for the shadow ahead of you - when you see the shadow stop moving and/or back away/roll away). Once you see him stomp near the switch (while his leg is still embedded in the ground), dont waste time - get to the switch fast because he will stomp again.

Definitely Grissom Academy.
And that Reaper on Rannoch annoyed the hell out of me before I understood what exactly to do - but rather than tough, it was just badly done. Same with Kai Leng on Insanity.

The Marauder at the very end right before Shep steps into the beam. I litterally fought him for 20min on insanity and I was about ready to smash my xbox

The part with the missile launcher on Earth. Freakin' like 5 Brutes running at you then I was one of the ones who didn't realize that the enemies re-spawned until you activated the missile launcher. I just thought "I'll clear these enemies out first" but noooooooo banshee, banshee, banshee. Then on one of my numerous reloads I run out into the street and get shot by the Reaper shooting down the road.

Those Brutes on Tuchanka would've been easier if that Reaper hadn't kept stepping on me.

The Geth Primes was doable once I saw the spitfires lying around. Getting to them though...

Not wanting to troll; Everything was quite easy (after several 2-4 trials on Insanity, FINISHED IT JUST NOW!) except for the very last part where you get Brutes and Banshees as if they where friggin confetti. That part deserved a well shout "DAMN! THIS IS HARD AS ****!'

3 Geth Primes on Rannoch.
Priority Earth Defend Thanix Missiles. I basically stop shooting and start kiting the banshees and hoping the reaper lazors hits the banshee.

Grissom Academy's atrium shootout on Insanity.

Only battle in this entire game that took me more than 3 attempts to pass.

I found the Rannoch reaper easy

Move all the way to the right of the screen then when he gets ready to fire start rolling to the left line up your shot and roll again if need be after the strike move back to the right side of the screen and repeat.

was that your first playthrough? Because my first playthrough, I had no idea what to do, since there wasn't  a whole lot of instructions...

but yeah, after the first playthrough it's much easier

1. The 3 Primes on Rannoch, especially on Insanity.
2. The last bit on London where you have to survive against waves and waves of Banshees and Marauders. I don't mind Brutes, but Banshees are such asses!!

This

also, I'll add - Grissom Academy ( right after you meet Jack) where fighting the Atlas and all the engineers etc... part's hard, especially when you're a Vanguard, and the biotic charge for some reason doesn't always work...

On Insanity? I'd say Grissom Academy. Other than that, the occasional grenade that instantly kills you.

what about the London part? On Insanity, it's tough. I can handle brutes, but cannibals and banshees really ruins the day lol

Yes. The constant screen shake with the Hades Cannon sequence is more than annoying because of that. I hit shift to pause the game until the screen shaking stops, each time it happens. That's the only thing that makes the mission playable for me.

is that the part where you first arrive back on earth? Because on Insanity, that part gives you a headache. I wish Bioware really left the whole screen shaking out. Because it was fricking annoying. Made that part of the game so unjoyable.

Actually I should make a forum topic on that. See how many people even enjoyed that part of the game...

Its actually a lot easier once you realise the key is not to aim when shooting and move side ways. This way you can survive until he needs to reload and then kill him. Took me a day to figure that out.

For me the hardest parts are the bunch of Primes on Rannoch (I specialise in mowing down mook clusters, so bosses are a weak point) and most of London (since you are constantly getting flanked by swarms).

Grissom Academy is a pain if you lose the Atlas, but when pitting your Atlas against Cerberus' one it's all about lining it up... so that your right 'hand' with the gun will hit him around cover, but his right 'hand' has a beam in the way. >:D

Gissom Academy was tough at first. Rannoch's Reaper would always used to kill me. I think the hardest fight is the first section of Priority: Earth. Damn sneaky Marauders.

I didn't have a problem with Grissom Academy and was also ok with the defending of Thannix Cannon on Earth. I play Vanguard and with constant charging I could keep my shields up quite ok during these fights. As long as there is no Turret shooting you in the back you are ok as a Vanguard.

I had some troubles with the 3 Geth Primes, though.

And it wonders me that I seem to be the only one that had troubles with the fight on Thessia, right before you enter the Temple. There have been a bunch of Ravagers and Harvester, they all have good firepower at range. As a Vanguard I would usually try to charge and close in, but this isn't an option here there is just too much firepower around. My squad did die quickly and I had to stay in cover and shoot, something I am not used to as a Vanguard :-)
Actually that fight gave me the most headaches
