ETA: People, people. Please read the entire comment. I am NOT anti-boob as clearly stated. I'm talking about the apparent differences between earlier games and 3. My questions are multiple and not only female related!

:? Okay. What's up with the bigger boobies? This game is rated "mature", which I find ironically hilarious. The absurd alterations to character shapes are instigated by a 12 year old boy, no? Now I understand what the cover review quote of "bigger and sexier" really means.

I realize the guys need their boobs and I would never condone restricting them. But speaking as a person who owns a pair… logic comes into play. The exaggerations are extreme to the point of distraction, and I can't help but think "Dude, those would be a real pain in the a** to bring to battle. Especially whilst wearing heels and scant clothing". Not to mention the sheer physics of it all.

What was wrong, exactly, with how the characters were drawn prior to ME3? I thought there was plen-ty o' boob to ogle at. Playing the game seemed to be the primary consideration. ME3? Not so much. Boobs galore. And in case you didn't catch it, more boobs. Oh, you didn't get enough boobs? Here's some more. Never mind that there would need to be an entire arsenal of specialized anti-tipping technology for support. Pun intended.

Now, if there was some consistency, i.e. the guys all running around with big ol quads flapping around. Not only is that NOT the case, the guys may as well be Ken dolls. AND they have bonus man boobs. What the? I mean, if you're gonna go down that road, at least balance the load. Pun intended again. Seriously. Go take a look at all the guys and see what I mean.

Part of what drew me to the Mass Effect franchise was that I thought, "Gee. A quality game that stands apart from the rest, because it doesn't rely on gratuity and cheap thrills to make up for a crappy story and characters." Especially with this being a futuristic game with interspecies relations, you'd think there would be less focus on boobs and more on storyline and dialog. Sadly, the content was not developed with as much…. gusto. It seems like a backwards trend, which is very unfortunate, because it alienates a large portion of the fan base, male and female (and whatever else) alike.

What gives? Simply enjoying boobs is not an acceptable answer. There were plenty of boobs. And honestly, if one must consume that much boobage, doesn't that shift ME to a completely different and far shallower plane? And if the consumption needs are that high do you really need to find it in a single video game? I held this trilogy to a much higher standard and I'm really curious to know how exactly Mass Effect went from immersive, compelling adventure to immersive, compelling, boobs.

I have more to add regarding this topic, but right now I need to go find myself an eezo fueled ta ta support system.

Which is why ME3 is the best game in the ME series!

Plenty of women enjoy ta tas, too, you know!

They're something the whole family can enjoy!

The only "serious" answer to your post is that it's pure sex appeal.  There's no justification beyond that.  Just like the ridiculous outfits on most of the female characters.  I believe a large percentage of people on the forum, if not the majority, agree with your post.

Did you notice EDI's cameltoe, by the way?  Now there's a bit of gratuitous sex for you!    :innocent:

They didn't change those of Tali or Jack. Good thing too; shows Bioware still has at least some sense.

appealing to casual gamers = more money

that's all that matters since casual gamers = 15 year old boys

plus ME =/= real life

Tali is all about the rear seat, and Jack has armor-piercing nipples...

Not all the females had massive naughts. Look at Jack, or Tali! =P

Though to be fair, Tali does make up for it with those curves. And hips.

Sex sells. Marketing 101.

If this game can rile feathers, I can only hope they never play the Witcher 2.

:DThat's better, and YES I DID. Wowza. Why bother with "clothing" at all. They should've just kept her... natural

With regard to don't pay attention... How can you not? Sexy sexy to a point, but then it just becomes an annoying distraction.

And, yes, sex sells, but wasn't the ME franchise doing just fine without the... upgrades?

And seriously. What about the dudes I mentioned? If sex sells, then why are all the guys eunuchs?

BW has proven to not care about a small fan base

just look at the ending debacle and their refusal to change the ending b/c only a "vocal minority" hates it

sex sells to casual gamers who = 15 year old boys which = more $$$$$

plus its "artistic integrity"

People complained about Miranda's costume and camera angles in ME2.

As a response, Bioware gave us EDI: Thinner waist, bigger boobs, bigger hips, naked.

I gave an incomplete answer, my apologies. Science fiction is still considered by many, perhaps wrongly so, that it is a male dominated market. Therefore, when designing characters, women are given impossible curves and men are rendered into "Ken dolls". Marketing believes that in order to draw in the biggest crowd they must market Swedish bikini babes and not Mandingo. Forgive my choice of words, it's early and I'm at work. I like your thread, makes me wonder how long before the over sexed or under sexed find it and turn this into a porn vs church debate.

#1: Heterosexual males aren't the only ones who enjoy breasts.

#2: Whose breasts are bigger? Line up a series of pictures of every single recurring female character from ME1/ME2 beside pictures of their ME3 versions and then show me the proof that they've all had their breasts enlarged. Because I really, really do not believe this to be true.

As in Miranda's costume and butt shots weren't provocative enough?

RE: EDI...and did they ever! When I first saw her in the game, I laughed my a** off! And then I kept thinking she was going to tip over at some point. When she talked about changing her external appearance, I honestly thought she was going to do a reduction just to be a little more comfortable.

I can totally see concept artists in Edmonton drawing a sketch, looking at it for a few seconds, then grabbing it and quietly hurrying to the bathroom.

I felt sorry for Miranda in ME3. Should couldn't have been comfortable wearing that same outfit through TWO games.
