I find the Wiki limited and a bit awkward as a reference. I am wondering if an official guide is in the works for the toolset, and perhaps a published API?

You are aware that there is documentation for scripting within the toolset? Just double click a function in code and it should pop open the reference window.
I don't think that BioWare is intending on having any other kind of "official" guide than the wiki. Remember, it's a wiki so it'll be edited and get better over time.

The wiki IS the official guide, as it were. If you find it clunky, then make suggestions for edits on the pages. That's why it's a wiki!
As for API documentation, while the functions have individual documentation within the toolset, if you don't know what you're looking for, that's not terribly helpful. I'm sure there are some folks working on a more detailed documentation however, it'll just take time. It's a fairly comprehensive API.
