Holiday 2013. My guess is Exalted march woulda been this summer originally and DA3 woulda originally been Mar 2014, cancelling EM allowing them to get DA3 out 6 months earlier.

Sorry but I loathe people like you. The I WANT IT AND I WANT IT NOW generation of kiddies annoys me to no end. Do you really have nothing more going on in your life other than dragon age games? Really? The wait will be worth it in the end and when it eventually comes out you will be glad you did.

NEWSFLASH: Nobody likes waiting. But its worth it in the end.

That said I still expect EA to bring out the next sub-par product at the end of this year or early 2013.

Anyway, console or not console, I'd say March 2013 (because fiscal year and all). I have no idea if that's too soon, since I don't know where they're at, development-wise. For all we know, they could have started months ago and kept quiet about it, or not. DAO was done in five years, from scratch. The Next Thing has a lot of the work done already, setting-wise. So it depends how many changes from DA2, and how deep those changes go, I guess.

The Witcher 2 was ported to 360 btw and is damn near identical to the PC version. They should be scoping that game out, not Skyrim. Not that is it perfect, but far better than Skyrim.

Brent Knowles' blog states that from roughly Fall 2008 to Summer 2009, they started on DA2, well before Origins was released in November 2009.

Pre-production work sure, but Tony Evans said actual production didn't begin until January 2010 and it took them about 11 months (leaving about 2 for testing presumably).

My guess is that Dragon Age 3 will be scheduled for release during the 2013 holiday season (i.e., the end of 2013). If they plan to release it after 2013, then Bioware may as well develop it for PC and the upcoming, currently unannounced consoles (although my guess is that they want to release one final Dragon Age game on the current generation of consoles).

If they develop DA3 for the new consoles then would that mean console gamers will not be able to import saves from DA:O and DA2? That would suck. To answer the OP, I think they probably will release it either mid or late 2013, although personally I would like them to spend at least a couple years on DA3.

Indeed. Console sales make up for about 70-90% sales of a 3-way multiplatform game on average. XBox³ and PS4 are well rumoured to not be backward compatible. Both are rumoured Q4 2013 release. Past platform games when a new console cycle is out get WAY less PR attention.

On that basis, I predict mid-late 2013.

Hey, I'm not arguing that (the console thing, because comparing TW2 and Skyrim is like comparing bananas and asteroids. They have very, very little in common).

I'm a PC girl (I like tinkering and controlling and tweaking) but I own a 360 too. Don't use it much because I suck with a controller (and the kids are not sharing, damn them) but I can see the appeal.

Admittedly, there can be a little bit of frustration when games are not properly ported, but I won't blame the console players.

I would guess around two years after DA2 came out, so maybe sometime in 2013? I don't mind waiting longer though.

They announced early last year (May?) that they were working on Dragon Age 3. There slowly rolling out more information about it. My guess is sometime in July-Aug will be presented with a teaser trailer to the game. Jan 2013 will start pre-orders for a March 2013 release.

But at any rate, this my guess and I could be wrong as many other people. Personally I don't care when its released just as long as the game does not turn out be Dragon Age 3: repeat of Dragon Age 2 half ass done!

I'd bet on either early 2013, or late 2013 to jump into the new console market. With the cancellation of Exalted March(that is the name of the planned expansion right?) and the fact that there will be no more DA2 content, I'm leaning toward early 2013.

Yep and Dragon Age seems to have a 2 year span-mostly....LOL!

But I think the reason Elder takes so long is because Mr. Howard is very anal about the little details..bless him..heh heh!

Good find, I had not read that before. 

Kind of interesting to read how he felt everyone at BioWare is super specialized to the possible exclusion of more well rounded people that do a little of everything. Makes me wonder if that isn't part of the reason you have such a disconnect in things like story and gameplay in recent BioWare titles. Sounds almost the exact opposite of some place like Valve, but then again, Valve is Valve.

I wonder if BW said anything about waiting for the new consoles or not. They cannot wait too long using the current console generation, because the release date may be too close to the arrival of the new consoles. For an example. if the PS4 will be using an AMD APU (as rumored) than that system is most likely not backwards compatible. The same may be true for the 720.

Skyrim bored me.

Skyrim was great...until I got tired of the seemingly ENDLESS number of sidequests...I enjoy a large, indepth and expansive game, but Skyrim was a bit to much for me. But maybe its because the spring semester started and I havent had time to finish it.
