With *Space Magic* anything is possible, just ask Joker as he flee's the battle....

Poor Joker even if you chose Synthesis he STILL ain't getting any of EDI even with her new Orcanic/inorganic DNA she still isn't anatomically equiped for sex.

Apparently she is, because Shepard can overhear a conversation between Joker and Mordin via intercom, where Mordin is giving Joker sex advice for EDI.

Of course why would Cerberus bother making their robots equipped for sex?

If I was going to  make a robot designed for infiltration purposes - I damn well am gonna make it as lifelike as possible so it is prepared for any situation.  Creating a robot capable of engaging in sexual activities makes perfect sense if your robot is designed for espionage and infiltration.

I guess that works better than my head canon of Japanese engineers. Posted Image

Impossible. It is highly unlikely that two different species can merge DNA to create a hybrid species. Even with closely related species like Tigers and Lions, creating hybrid offspring is difficult.

I think there are two possible explanations

1) Humans and Quarians are aliens to each other, they are completely different species and therefore can´t have offspring. They can´t even eat the same food, so their whole organism reacts differently to the same thing and is likely different in many other aspects.

2) Human and Quarians are very similar to each other physically. This doesn´t make sense, and is only there because bioware want them to be space elves. This doesn´t follow logic. A Cat on Earth could be 90% similar to a "Cat" from Thessia, do you think they coud have offspring?. I´m no biologist, but in the real world the external appearance of some animal has very little to do with the DNA composition. Look at dogs, there are a lot of races that look radically different, yet they all are the same species and can have offspring.

So my final answer is:
-No, if you want to apply some logic to the ME universe
-Yes, if you picked the synthesis ending.

Based on Tali's face, clearly humans and Quarians can have children because the Quarians are basically humans with glowy eyes and fake wires tattooed/photoshopped onto them.

if not then you fail genetics forever

I am referencing/expressing my dislike of the stock-photo photoshop job they did for Tali and all Quarians.  I was under the impression that they looked far more alien than they actually did (or at least that Tali did not look like a supermodel).  That was lazyness on Bioware's part, plain and simple.

Agreed.

The Quarians should have at least looked as alien as the Asari, if not more so. Now the Asari actually look more alien than the Quarians, particularly with the improved skin textures in ME3. The quick editing of a stock photo was incredibly lazy on Bioware's part.

She's both. Posted Image

Bioware got the balance of alien and human features right with Liara. She's got just enough alien features to make her look like the alien she is, with just enough similarity to humans to still be attractive.

The Tali reveal leans too far towards human, IMO.

While we're posting pictures, here's some fan art that builds off of what Bioware put out there, while being a little less "space-elf." As I said on the last page, I have no problem with the design they chose for Tali, only with the implementation.

The creator was Sketch-BGI. His "After the Black" comic strip is worth checking out too - I'm sure more than a few of you have seen it already (though, to be fair, it's what got me a little paranoid about Bioware's handling of the dextros in the extended cut).

Assuming there is a Mass Effect IV, if the Quarians are walking around unmasked on Rannoch in that game, I think Bioware should make them slightly more alien than the ME3 picture. While I'd be against a total retcon that would invalidate the Tali photo, they could add more details to their skin like they did with the Asari in ME3 and give them a more alien skin tone. The lens flare and poor quality of the Tali picture gives them room to do that.

Dextro-amino acids and Levo-amino acids do not mix. These are the fundamental building blocks of cells.

Quarian biology is based on Dextro-amino acids. Human biology is based on levo-amino acids.

Quarians and Humans *cannot* have children together even if the parts fit.

A Quarian having sex with a Human and producing a child is about as likely as a Human having sex with a Dolphin and producing offspring.

The act happens but no children are produced. Don't bother Googling it. What has been seen can not be unseen.

if shepard can be brought back from the dead from a really really burnt body with memories intact and everything else.

then Quarian and humans can have babies. the only other human quarian relationship you see is in ME2 at the illum bar where the quarian is talking to a turian about her human ex/bf which didn't go so well so we never know.

i refuse to believe they allowed ashley and liara the only ones able to have shepard's kid.

It's funny, but even though it has been in other science fiction stories, I never really thought about what it really meant, taboo wise, or even on a spiritual, intellectual level, what something like a Tali and Shepard getting together in this way. If something was close enough to you, but obviously not the same species, what a big step it would be to take. Is it wrong? Is it hopeful and more about our soul? What really counts? Just an interesting question I think.

It's only an interesting question if you think sex or love without children is bad (that is to say, if you are a conservative religious person).

For everyone else it is pretty irrelevant where you put your best part in.----Tirigon

------------------------

No Tirigon, I was not coming at this just from a religious, moral point at all. It is not just about sex without children either. It two different species having sex, They are different beings from worlds so far apart. Its about the emotions behind it. You would be right if I was talking about caring about sticking the best parts just anywhere. I do think it is not irrelevent at all...and especially to everyone.

This is a woman, a different species. This kind of connection would not be some minor thing on so many levels. Talking about the heart and mind here, not the sex act. Kind of everything behind it, driving it. That were its the most interesting
