I'm seeing people talk about how "nobody" plays Vanguards on Silver/Gold (which is not true) or how "nobody SHOULD play them" because "they die a lot" or "they get all the kills".  Let me break it down for you one time!

- This is a Co-Op Game.  That means four people are Working Together to Win.  Points are meaningless unless you are an insecure manchild (or womanchild).

- Following that, Each Team Member Has A Role.  A "team" does not mean "four Salarians with sniper rifles" because at some point you will start dying and you will either take forever to complete a wave because you have to keep running away, getting one shot off, running away, etc.

- Following that, The Role of A Vanguard is to Get In Faces and Kill Things.  Vanguards on any level, including Gold, will typically have a lot of kills and a lot of points.  That is Their Job because they are Good At It (if they know how to play the class, of course).

- Following that, Yes, Vanguards Die More Than Other classes.  That is Not Because They Are Bad, it is because They Are Getting In Faces And Killing Things.  I just killed the entire first spawn of the wave, but got killed by a Marauder I didn't notice.  Don't be a jerk and refuse to revive me - I did you a huge favor by killing those guys!

- If you think that it is a Bad Thing that someone is killing more things than you, then you Do Not Understand Teamwork.  If all you want to do is top out the points board, take your Widow X to Bronze and solo it.  I GUARANTEE you will be the points leader!

Now look, I know there are lots of bad Vanguard players.  But there are just as many bad snipers or adepts as well!  Asari Adepts should Probably Not Use A Widow!

Also, please be aware that If You Are Not the Host of the Match, You Should Not Play Vanguard Ever.  This is just a straight fact.  If you're not the host, even a little bit of lag will get you killed - or worse, you will glitch out and fall through the floor, never to be seen again until the end of the match.

DO NOT PLAY VANGUARD UNLESS YOU ARE HOSTING, PERIOD.  If you do, DO NOT CHARGE or BE PREPARED TO LAG OUT.

I'm reluctant to play the Vanguard on Gold simply because of the glitch where you turn into a hot air balloon and explore an eternity of nothingness.

I'd hate them a lot less if Bioware removed all that damn screen shaking from Biotic Explosions and Charges. Can't tell you how many times I've missed a kill because a teammate is doing there job and setting off detonations, but my scope is shaking like there's an earthquake.

Vanguards can work on gold, just don't charge out into a group of enemies. Stick with your teammates and charge enemies when they get close to you. Plus Biotic Charge is great against Phantoms since they'll usually be stunned for a moment.

I like using the vanguard as the front and moving the battle around them--no class can match the ability of the vanguard to form and hold a front.

I love how people dont get it, this game only has 2 pure assault oriented classes that can maintain that assault. Vanguards and soldiers. Which is why i sympathize with the OP, people neglect that class too much. I hate to say it, but most of the time when i see a human vanguard in a silver game, hes lv 8 or less and with poor gear. I usually ask them do they want us to play a game on bronze first to get him a few levels for silver. sometimes they say yes, most of the time they say nothing and are a drag to the team, dying multiple times starting from round one. at that point me and/or my friends leave and just leave the poor fella there.

some people dont get it. Point of the vanguard is being the tip of the spear, not get a spear tip driven into you.

Othervise, i dont mind em. and if they do **** up the team and we end up playing through the match, they usually have the decensy to leave fast but yeah, a good non suicidal vanguard is a real sight to behold.

This. As a person who frequents adept and sentinel, they'll really good at just blowing stuff up after you warp or use singularity on something.

I allways gigle at the site of that. Mantis with high cal barrel and piercing mod usually does the same thing but weighs considerably less. Or if they want to go pure damage. why not take a claymore or evicerator with shredder mod and damage mod. or they wanna go for the amount of piercing, taking a high powered pistol will perform the same as widow, if not better with the max piercing mod and high caliber barrle(carny X and Talon being good examples of that)

You are doing it wrong.  Vanguards should absolutely charge out into groups of enemies on gold and kill all of them with biotic explosions and shotguns.

You are doing it wrong.  Vanguards should absolutely charge out into groups of enemies on gold and kill all of them with biotic explosions and shotguns.

Maybe I should rephrase, you shouldn't biotic charge a group of enemies that are very far away from your group of teammates. Because if you happen to go down, they won't be able to make it to you or it'll be very unlikely.

If vanguard weren't so prone to glitching out due to network issues then I would play the class more prominently. Even so I would not trust them on gold because they are a liability and poor team support even if played well. They are built around willful self endangerment, and given that enemy group tactics and durability is so much higher on gold the slot that a vanguard would fill would be much better filled by something that can reliably strike from a distance or play off of one of the other player's abilities.

I honestly don't see how it's possible to lose on any map/enemy/difficulty if you have a squad like this.

I mean, Unless you all land on a grenade and nova at the same time or something.
