From what Riordan tells us, its very foreign, and harsh compaired to the other Nations we have come to know. Where the darkspawn can appear from anywere at anytime.
The only type of landscapes that is known are the northern steppes that are mostly tainted thanks to the blights, and forests to the southern boarder.
We know that they are german in character, and their governament is a Constitutional monarchy which gives the impression that their laws would limit the amount of power anyone can have.
