It's funnily enough the OP wants the "I banged a male with knife-ears and a pointy dagger" achievement in order to get them all but doesn't want to play the actual deed in the game

If you want to get all of the achievements, and playing female characters doesn't appeal very much to you, then how are you supposed to get First Knight and Hopeless Romantic achievement then? =)

i'll be honest, i used to feel the same way about playing female characters and I always ended up finishing the game as the "good guy" even though i'd start out to play the dark side jedi, renegade, etc.
but i picked up a tip on the mass effect forums that said i should try playing through as the ****y female. gotta say i thought it was brilliant, its RP so its not you so you don't get caught in the trap of picking the good descisions. ( and i gotta say, i've got a soft spot for the "evil girls" of the world, spose thats why i'm quite taken with Morrigan
)
i say the op should try it, worked for me now i've got more gametime out of other RPG's i can go back to!

Please forgive me my ignorance; i've been following this thread since it started. What i see that the original poster - for whatever personal reasons - doesn't like the way the game seemingly forces him to get certain achievements and keeps throwing the same "arguments" over and over again. On the contrary, more reasonable individuals try convince him that - for the sake of simplicity let's say it this way - it isn't a flaw of the game nor did Bioware go wrong, using mostly the same arguments again and again.
I, for one, stand with the ones who say that the achievements are supposed to be 'achievements' and not all to be got by simply playing through the game. There are a lot of achievements to get simply by completing certain segments in the game: Last of The Wardens, Standard-Bearer, Hero of Redcliffe, Rabble-Rouser, Veteran..just to name a few. Are these achievements rewarding? In a certain aspect, yes, they are. On the other hand, following the OP's logic, one could start a complaint thread saying that he doesn't like the fact that (s)he gets all these pretty anyway, no matter what decisions he made and the game FORCES these achievements on him/her.
Let's play: hereby i demand that all the forced achievements go away; i actually do want the game to reward for doing something in a SPECIFIC way and i don't want to see any generic achievements which can be gotten by anyone who is able to click through the dialogues. There, what now?
Bioware could have gone the way that they reward the player only if said player played a lawful evil lesbian character. Or create the campaign so that one can't progress the story unless you burn a village to ashes, slaughter the children, kill all the women and rape the men. Ummm...or something similar
They gave you choices instead, the very first one being whether or not to buy the game. Implemented some automatic achievements which may or may not be rewarding and which i'll have to suck up. Gave everyone choices whether or not to pursue some other, not so generic achievements. Who wins? The one who'd prefer a more exclusive achievement experience with rewards not reachable for just anyone and their grandma or the one who HAS THE CHOICE of going one or the other way? Who is 'more equal'?
You want to play through the game, having fun and get some fancy achievements unlocked in the process? There you have it.
Are you an 'elitist' who wants to play a specific way and be rewarded? There you go: Tactician, Resilient, Easily sidetracked, Defender...not to mention the talent-specific ones.
Are you an achievement wh*re who just NEEDS to have them all? Expect to make compromises while getting them.
Are you a guy who (quote coming)...think the best approach to achievements is by rewarding the player by playing the game...?
You just got that. You bought a game and you ARE rewarded by being allowed to play. Why bother starting such threads?
YOU have the option of not doing anything in particular and get rewarded. YOU have the option to go one or the other way and still get rewarded.
I don't want achievements in my game. I got the option of not buying the game and...no reward at all.
That said, though i wouldn't miss the achievements, i'm fine with them being in the game. I'm just throwing ideas to present another point of view.
Why don't we just stop complaining and start to enjoy the game? Bioware went the best possible route to cater as many players as possible. They are a company specializing in creating commercional art so they have appeal to as many people as possible. You know what? They are damn good at it.
sorry for the rather chaotic post, i think the point is still clear

OMG ... the achievements ... I 4got they existed ... personally, I shove them up my ****, I couldn't care less.
It's a SP CRPG - *the* achievement in such a game (for me) is to play the character(s) I like and how I like them ... no more, no less.

Plain as day. I don't like the way DA:O handled achievements. An active percent of gamers, mostly on xbox, actually strive to get achievements. I am not one of those, as my gamerscore shall reflect IgotTheMeat7. I started this thread not for other people's opinion, but so that bioware could see my feedback on their product in hopes that when future DA products come out my small voice could be heard. Were i a large company, i would want such feedback to better improve my product. I don't care what other people think of my opinion, what is most important to me is that Bioware or EA can see my opinion if they felt like checking on the forums. aaaaaand DONE! good day.
