Figure I'll pop onto ea support and see if they've got a timeframe for the auth server outage. Go to contact us page, and it asks me to log in.
Auth server socket error.
What kind of idiot designs their support service to run off the systems its supporting?

You can still play single-player if you don't own From Ashes. Just play in offline mode.

Is there some error message? I can load SP all right and I even see promotional weapons...Anduin The Grey wrote...
Arg! It's stupid, as others have mentioned I can't even play single player either. Once I get my Achieves 100% in ME3 I'm sanitising my Origin acount and refuse to buy any game that requires some level of online authentication via a 3rd party. If that means Bioware games will become unplayable then so be it, the only thing I can hope for is that I will be one of so many that EA stop pulling this crapolla.
Xbox - UK.
Yeah, hate that too. I was getting error messages in Dragon Age: Origins when my connection was down.
I am able to attempt to connect to EA servers while the 'Checking Downloadable Content' message is up by pressing Y but that is all I am able to do.
If you really want to play ME3 on your Xbox you can purge your cache and then refuse to update when prompted, this will of course mean you will have to play offline but you will be able to play ME3 Single Player, which, for the Xbox is so much more incredibly pathetic than DRM on PC is outrageous. Has it actually stopped anyone who really wanted to playing 'modified' games that haven't cost them a penny? Not sure, but it is stopping me from playing legitimately, so as far as I'm concerned EA have pushed it too far.
If they are so sure that online authentication is the way to protect their products then good for them as I will now refuse to purchase any game that requires any kind of online authentication. Doesn't matter how much authentication they shove on something, if they want to use a business model that only allows illegitimate and subsequently free use of their games well good for them, because my money is now going elsewhere.
EDIT:
Just tried DA:Origins and although it gave me a failed to connect to Dragon Age servers I am still able to play single player, if DA2 is unplayable like ME3 or if I actually need to have an Origin account to play it even the aweseomeness that is Felicia Day will not convince me to get it for Xbox. Needless to say that thought alone makes playing DA:O again right now completely unplayable.

Are they taking this seriously i wonder, i've got my own servers running and they haven't been down for more then 2 hours (power outage... some idiot crashed a chopper in the power lines) in the last 5 years. Are they running this stuff on 10 year old pc's or something.

It's linked to the same EA account as your Origin account I presume, ergo, the manifest cannot be acessed either.AlienSpaceBats wrote...
Out of interest, can anyone access their multiplayer manifest from here on BSN?

I believe you dont have to do anything with cache, not being connected to LIVE may be enough.

So who's genius idea was to make it so people can't play SP if your server screws up?
I like to think everyone from both EA and BioWare gathered around a large roundtable and decided upon it with large grins on their faces

It took me an hour to link my old Bioware account and create a new BSN/Origin account, I'm not beyond putting in a little effort into getting a game to work, I still remember the hassle of messing with IRQ's and custom batch files to get dos games to work. And yes, you do have to delete your cache, it takes a few seconds this is not a problem the problem is that I am forced to play via Origin and in 2 years when/if EA shut down the multiplayer servers as they have for so many games, I'll be completely unable to play ME3 at all.
I'm still playing ME1 for the umpteenth time, am not going to finish all my DA and ME runthroughs until I know how all this gets resolved.
