Who is this handsomely moustached man? This heroic (possibly Orlesian) Grey Warden is responsible for saving Bethany/Carver's life and yet I know so little about him. I would like to learn more about Stroud and his mission in the Free Marches. I expect we will see him in DA3 and that he might even be a companion.

Here is what the DA wiki has to say about Stroud,
http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Stroud
http://dragonage.wik...iki/Talk:Stroud

Does anyone know if there are any other references or information about Stroud available? In any of the books, comics or anything else?

Nope. He remains an enigma.

Albeit a handsome moustached one.

I'm all for more moustache goodness in DA3. The lack of DA2 facial pilosity makes me miss Oghren, and we can't have that.

He's just Riordan with a 'tash. He's aged quite well, really.

Honestly, I hope he doesn't reappear, especially not as a companion. Personally he seemed too business-like to be interesting, though I suppose both times you actually meet him you're in some kind of peril so perhaps that's fair enough.

Mainly though I just wouldn't want too many bit characters from past games following me (the player) around, it becomes a bit improbable after a while.

When I first read the headline to this thread, my mind flashed to this:

http://ts3.mm.bing.n...7f682bc5ca7c1eb   and I was wondering why anyone was asking about vampires in DA.  Obviously, I was wrong (and just a little bit relieved.)

Yeah, this pretty sums up my feelings.  Why does everyone want to recycle these NPC's?  Its supposedly a very huge world, it would be nice to meet new people.  And just because an NPC has an interesting look or personality, does not mean they should automatically be considered as a companion.   The world needs interesting and good looking people that are not part of the protagonist's party, as well.

If you have business in Amaranthine it would totally make sense to be greeted by the moustache and have him give you the information you're searching for or a rundown of whatever situation the Wardens need assistance with. Or maybe we could get messages from time to time, but that would just be a big tease.

Of course you could stop at any Inn in Orlais on your travels and when asking the locals for news have one of them tell you that some Grey Wardens were passing through and you just missed them. "Don't know much about them, though one of them had a fabulous moustache..." We'd all know what that meant. ;)

I don't mind if one or maybe two bit players from previous games make a reappearance as companions--it helps with the continuity.

Old companions reappearing as new companions?  NO.

Because it creates an impression of continuity? Familiarity? Reinforces the saga side of the franchise? Because we liked a character (non-companion) and would like to see more of them. I was quite happy to "reunite" with Isabela. We had a glimpse of her in DAO and I liked very much what little we got. Getting to know her better was nice.

But honestly? I don't really care. I just want some moustache. :P

I just hope that voice comes back. He must be the only Orlesian with a voice that's easy on the ears. Instead of sounding like a thousand rats being placed into a hot bath.

He should either shave his stash or get a matching beard.

I wouldn't mind if he came back. He's kind of high up in the food chain to join a low-level party, but I wouldn't complain if they chose to ignore that. I'm not bothered by his laconic tendencies. As someone else said, he's a little busy when you meet him. It's hard to imagine him as a practical joker during his off-duty hours, but not every character needs to be Varric.

He could be that Grey Warden companion they teased about.

X'D Sorry Filament, I have to agree with Smecky Kitteh, here.. he reminds me of the lead singer of Dr Hook or 80s truckers. So so bad :D

I like it if I see NPC's from an older game in the next in a cinematic. Gives me a feeling of deja vu................
Might as well be Stroud.
But not as a companion. I would like to have all new characters for a companion. Oh, exception: or the companion is Cassandra.

Cassandra seems fair enough as a companion, since she's clearly already involved in what's going on. Barring something unexpected I don't see why Stroud should be following anybody else around the continent.

Well if he does become a companion, that means he could be a romance option. Feel sorry for those who chose to play a female and end up romancing him. Go through all that trouble just to shave only to have Stroud bring it back.

"Cassandra seems fair enough as a companion because I really like her. I'm not so hot on Stroud."

Not such a convincing argument.

Better to look like I want what's best for the story, not just myself.

Stroud could make a significant mark in the story I think being a grey warden. I have a strong feeling that the wardens have their part in DA3 to play and Stroud is someone we allready know..........................

And Cassandra l think is likeble and hot.......Image IPB. But she would make a great companion being a seeker Image IPB.
