I would have liked to play a Conan the barbarian character. It would be a pretty cool origin.

Hehehe. Yeah. Your Origin could be like the movie-version Conan's (village wiped out and all that...then again, that's kinda similar to the noble origin...hmmm. Ah! Quick way to make it 'different': throw in a 'riddle of steel' scene  ). There'd also have to be a 'broader' male model...it wouldn't be 'Conan' if it didn't resemble the physique of Ahhnuld.

It would also be cool if such an add-on/DLC came with a Basil Poledouris-esque addition to the soundtrack, so as to evoke Conan more.

Oh, and an 'Atlantean' sword, too! (I don't recall Conan getting something like that in the REH books, tho'...)

'CROM!'

Still more origins, human in particular, would be nice. I see I'm not the only one that wanted a commoner/Avvar origin

Hmm...I dunno. Aren't they too 'zen' and focused on concepts such as duty?

I would love a new origin for the human, I'm not that much a mage person so I have a lot of charecters who are rpgues and warriors but I like being human above the other races and doing the same origin sotry over and over again just gets boring. I don't see why they can't have a Chasind origin story since they mention them a lot during the game and it would bring up a lot of interesting things to say to your allies. I could see this as one of the bigger DLC's if they ever decide to go with this but I think they should since doing the human noble one over and over again gets tiring.

I wonder why the elf -> mage -> dalish option doesnt exist. They have mages cleary, and ones they arent about to hand over to the circle. it might actually make the origin interesting.

I think that if they ever even considered giving a different origin for the mages, it should be with some kind of apostate mage group, like the Mage's Collective or something. The Dalish are just so boring.

Because throughout history, nobles have been nothing but exalted, moral and admirable right?
:lol::lol::lol:

For real. The only thing that bothers me about the Human Noble origin is that I think it's kind of hard to play as a rogue. I mean, you're filthy rich, you live in a castle, your family members are warriors, so on. You can be a complete ass, that's for sure, it's just I have a difficult time imagining a really rich noble starting out as a rogue.

I decided that my human noble female character was a spoiled bad girl who was very manipulative, and she learned to pick locks to sneak out at night to meet guys.  Posted Image

I feel like pointing out that the Mage's Collective are not apostates.  They're circle mages, just ones that mostly believe in independence.

Ah, I see. Well then scratch the Mage's Collective and replace that with some other kind of apostate mage group.

er...Merrill and Zathrian beg to differ, both of them using the same spells that any circle mage has at their disposal and making the mage class available for the Dalish origin would've just required a few lines of differently worded dialogue.

How about adding a few news spells. It's not hard.

For exmaple - whe nyou fight the sylvas, thy entangle you. Use that effect to make a new, dalish spell. TADAAAA!

They exist outside of the circle, therefore they are apostates. They may not be maleficarum but they certainly are apostates.

They're about as "outside of the circle" as Godwin.

They ignore Chantry rules, but they're still mostly members of the Circle.

Yeah I'd put it down to rebellion/boredom, second child syndrome, getting up to mischief because Fergus is the heir and expected to be the responsible one (ale and wenches non-withstanding).

What the hell are you talking about?
There's nothing about a human noble that obligates you to be nice.

no⋅ble [noh-buhPosted Imagel]–adjective

1. distinguished by rank or title. 2. pertaining to persons so distinguished. 3. of,
belonging to, or constituting a hereditary class that has special
social or political status in a country or state; of or pertaining to
the aristocracy. 4. of an exalted moral or mental character or excellence; lofty: a noble thought. 5. admirable in dignity of conception, manner of expression, execution, or composition: a noble poem.

Didn't you read the first 3 definitions you just posted? Especialy the third. A word can have several diferent definitions. What in the Noble origin made you think "Noble" was about your moral och mental character?

the idiot obviously doesn't know how to read a dictionary or thesaurus...he apparently thinks all the pretty numbers mean the word in question means ALL OF THEM.

those with a brain know otherwise.

i was under the impression that the nascent human barbarian origin would have been an Avvar Barbarian. For those of you who read The Calling, the grey warden Kell was an Avvar and it makes the origin seem a hell of a lot more interesting than if you know nothing of this group in the DA world...like most of the folks on here probably don't.

i mean, Kell was kind of a badass...and when i saw the Warden's Calling trailer, i immediately thought "it's Kell! badass!" he is even described in the books as having the white eyes.

anyway, i would vote for the Avvar origin. for sure.

I decided my noble human rogue was training in diplomacy and finesse fightning before the game.  (Bards and Duelists are both rogue specializations.)  The lockpicking is a little harder to rationalize.

After reading about the Avvars a bit from one of the wikis, I guess I agree w/ those who think that they'd be a good origin. I think it would be more interesting, tho', if they came w/ their own class...something that highlights their difference more than just giving a Warrior the Beserker spec., etc.

The bit about them worshipping gods other than the Chantry-approved 'Maker' would also make for an interesting point of conflict.
