Yeah. I play on the Xbox.

You can play with me! I love being saved from a Banshee trying to bad-touch me and having my ass picked up off the ground instead of bleeding out.....just sayin'  ^_^

Sounds like a plan. It is nice to have teammates that don't raise all 7 circles of hell when you are trying to help them.

I had a similiar problem, I join a game on where 2 Korgans were complain I was kill stealing, with my Asari justicar. They kept calling be a noob, during this then started sending me messages no rude to quote here.
I was easly said they were useless and I outlived them by quite a while.
I had to add them to a block list to stop them spam.

They obviously want to blame me for the mission fail.

kill stealing is a moot point anyway. if you do most of the damage you get the points via an assist.

Kill stealing is annoying. Period.

It may not effect anything other than the amount of points you get, but it's nice to get the kills you worked for. Seriously, even in PvP games kill stealing means nothing since the stolen kills still count towards the team total like in gametypes like Team Deathmatch and in Free-For-All gametypes kills are kills.

I never have any issue with kill stealing, mostly just teammates making it harder to kill anything. Usually biotics who keep scattering the enemies, or worse.

Like last night. Wound up fighting geth on whitegold because I queued for gold and apparently thats the only thing people play.

I went to my usual spot (The corner outside the desks, the L shaped barricade) and I sniped the geth coming down the stairs while everyone else hid in the office. This worked perfectly because the geth would come round the corner, slowly walk towards me and getting instakilled over the barrier because they walk in a single file line, or they'd break off and go into the office.

But this idiot drell decided to plop literally ass to ass next to me behind the barrier, hurling biotics at them, running back and forth, and generally causing the geth to scatter and break formating, ruining the perfect formula I had going.

I let that idiot stay dead after he inevitably got killed.

There's no such thing as kill stealing. You either kill something, or you don't. The only people who care or say otherwise are the jims who think being at the top of the scoreboard is all that matters.

Agreed.  If it moves kill it!  If it moves again kill it again.  The faster you finish the round the better I say.  B)

I am also not a big fan of the score thing either way.  Sometimes I'm at the top, sometimes I'm at the bottom...as long as I'm doing my best (which is usually rather good), I'm happy.

So, we can pretty safely assume you are a kill stealer who got tired of being called out on it, correct?

Nobody cares about scores or kill counts.  Its just really aggravating to have someone else come in and finish off the guy who were killing.  Especially when it happens continuously.  You are robbed of the satisfaction of killing the enemy yourself.  That's what it all comes down to.

Not to mention its insanely impractical.  Go and kill other enemies, not the one guy someone else is already killing.  That's not making the round "go faster".  That's actually making it go slower.

Are you the type of player where the other members of the group decide to stay in a certain area and you run down to an area closest to the spawns so they end up with 0 kills and you have 2000? If so then your just a dick and not a kill stealer.

Sure the game's main mission is to survive to the end but if your taking all the kills you might as well do solo missions.

Also I haven't played in a couple weeks but im pretty sure your exp isnt the same at the end, it depends on your contributions.

Also If your story is true you likely just got into a group with some dbags.

Ya people that cry kill stealer are clowns, the goal is to do the map as fast as possible and focus fire is generally a good thing. I had some dude complaining constantly the other night that my drone was kill stealing him. That drone's part of my offensive power set, and I have no control what it attacks. I wont purposely interrupt a bio or tech explosion combo but other then that I'm attacking anything and everything I want, period. There is no such thing as kill stealing in a team game where the exp is divided evenly. If you want the kill just to stroke your epeen you better kill faster.

Your "Score" is the only difference between players at the end screen.. You all get the same amount of exp, the same amount of credits.

I run a 4 man group on the weekends, our exp, and credits are the same no matter where we rank in the list.   The sole concept of this game is to MAKE THINGS DEAD.   If you want, go cower in the corner an wait for them overrun your position an kill you by sheer numbers..

Or take a pro-active view point, keep killing on the move an stay alive longer.    It is just a game.. People who rage, and trashtalk after the game bewilder me..  What is the point of playing, if you die repeatedly in the same place.. The tactic isn't working, adjust an try something new.

Communication is the key, so rather than start cursing on xbox-live  that someone scored more.. Buy a mic, talk about the game plan an bring everyone into the loop.

20 million people bought Call of Duty while 3+ million people bought Mass Effect 3 so most falsely assume that it's like CoD where you get most xp from your own kills instead of everyone getting xp from everyone's kills & same xp total at end of round

Less than 1% read the forums (check out the page views on the threads here.. nowhere near a million)

It's actually Mass Effect 3's fault since there should be a screen tip or something that explains it & the leaderboard at end of game misleads people into thinking it's like CoD

My golden rule for kill stealing: Don't shoot the target that the Batarian is about to Falcon Punch.

Come on dude, Falcon Punch takes like an hour to charge up, and like 45mins for the animation to complete.

There is a difference between focusing fire and deliberately stealing kills.

OP, it seems like you were doing the former, and had to suffer the company of some pathetic teammates, it happens, unfortunately.

Anyway:

Focusing Fire = You and one or more teammates start shooting at the enemy when they're roughly at full health. With so many bullets flying around, it's likely that the person who started shooting first will not get the kill. This is just a circumstance of teamwork.

Kill Stealing = You (and possibly others) are attacking a target alone, and shoot/biotic/tech damage him within an inch of his life. Suddenly, another teammate swoops in from nowhere and and deals enough damage to kill the enemy, even though he contributed nothing to whittling down the enemy in the first place. This is rude as hell and only scrubs try to justify it.

Since the op plays on Xbox there is a simple solution.

Find a corner and bunker down. Open score, select offending whiner and submit a player review. Avoid this player, game play etc. then u won't ever play with that jack wagon again.

the only time you should get annoyed at "kill stealing" is if you are attempting to set up a tech burst/biotic explosion and some one kills the bomb 5 mobs are killed, not just one. That and through personal bias, when your about to snipe something and some one just kills it (I JUST SET UP A SHOT U $##@).

but the key point is annoyed.....not nerd rage pissed. Score means jack, credits mean all.

"Kill stealing" only really annoys me when I've got a shot lined up and then someone runs in and blocks my shot at the last second, or runs in and makes the mob zip around so i cant get the shot off, or they charge in and yeah.

It's not so much that I'm mad that I didn't get the kill, I don't really care about that, It's just the fact that the monster should be dead already, but it's not. I like monsters dead now, not whenever mister vanguard/krogan decides he want's them to die.
