OK, browsing around on Youtube, I stumbled across this

1. Never heard Sandal say this in my game

David Gaider said there's a 1:100 chance for it to trigger. I had it trigger in my game. That day was a good day ....

And Gaider also said there's some deeper meaning to this - Sandal is not who he seems to be -
as we can tell by him freezing the ogre in the Deep Roads and saying 'not enchantment'.

I'm just sure what he means by what he is saying, but it seems to imply that once there was magic and now it has Faded away...

Some people seem to believe that Sandal might be an Old God. An interesting theory, no doubt. He is definitely not your average dwarf.

O_o! That's it! The purpose of the Dark Ritual was to create another Sandal but with an Old God inside him! We've solved the mystery! hahahahaha ... not.

I think it's related to Eleni Zinovia's prophecy and that Sandal is referring to the same being as Eleni's "shadow".

"The prison is breached. I see the encroaching darkness. The … the shadow will consume all …"

I've never had him say this during any of my games sadly. It is bloody creepy though, I wonder if that'll be in DA3 or if it'll be saved for the very last DA game?

i wish the voice actor if the same did the same job as in dao he was sooo good in that, in da2 i i just ingnore him, or play the game on no volume

Yeah it's the same voice actor. He just spoke more in DA2 that's all.

I've had the prophecy a lot, I can't wait to see what he means.

I also think he's the son of an elf - seen as a half dwarf/half human would have the appearance of a shorter human or a taller dwarf according to David Gaider aaaages ago - because he seems like an everyday dwarf, and elven-blooded children appear the same race as the non-elven parent.

Even so, I don't know if it would be normal for an elven-blooded dwarf (although rare) to be able to cast spells, otherwise it wouldn't be completely unheard of.
I think Flemeth has definitely meddled with Sandal.
