Kaidan. His romance arc is mature, interesting and realistically handled.

He doesn't need someone to solve his problems or give him purpose. He can do that for himself. He's strong and has a solid sense of self. He embodies passion, integrity, ambition, independence and honesty, and admires those traits in others.

Kaidan would have been perfectly happy/successful in his own right, had Shepard not come along. Shepard enhanced his life . She/he did not define it.

Kaidan gives more than he takes.

Plus, that voice.

Uggh. How embaressing. That was far more fan-girly than I intended. Please disregard.

No, really.

This :-) His voice alone is to die for and he loves shep more than his own life.

I have to agree with everything. Also, Kaidan says what he thinks instead of what Shepard wants to hear, and he obviously does that because he cares. He's there for Shepard because he wants to, not because he needs something from her/him.

..and being hot and having that sexy voice doesn't hurt either

Ashley in Me1 and stayed loyal the entire way through
- Fellow soldier, likely to understand the risks of the profession
- Complex character. Also surprisingly prophetic concerning the actions of the Citadel Council.
- Yin to to the Yang wrt to my Paragon Shepard
- Seems a bit more to forceful when compared the passiveness of Liara

Well because he has best writing (mose realistic and natural one) and character development. And is human. Yes Alenko. Never cant resist... Never gonna cheat on him, or dump him. He doesnt deserve that. I say their relationship had most interesting development. Very tragic and heartbreaking.

And Samantha too. She was cute and intelligent,. And normal. Somethimes that is enough.

And because Joker dumped me.
Again Joker dumped Shepard for a robot.
Mordin doesnt want me.
And because I dont like sleeping with me best bro (not to mention that horrible wanna have sex Garrus romance start), not to mention you cant even share same wine with him. And he looks cute with Tali. They can watch Fleet and Flotilla. Friendship wins in this.
Do not want emo drell with Carth syndrome. Thought if I want Titanic tragic like love story I would go for that guy. But why romance someone if you know he is gonna die soon?
Well Jacob, only if my Shep could talk to him in a different way...
And Liara is waay to clingy. Forced friendship. I like my personal space.
Tali is my little sister. But I am okay if she dates my best friend.
Well, Jack. Her character is way to hyperbolised. Maybe one day.
And Ashley cant survive my chain in command biotic/technic vs soldier decision on Virmire.

However, I am looking forward to get into Miranda panties next time.

Miranda as the sexy, confident, intelligent and at the same time caring woman.
A lot of her attitude also applies to Ashley which I romanced in ME1. Unfortunately she becomes completely unreasonable and trusts the Alliance over Shepard. Dumped her on Horizon.

I really like and agree with the comments about Kaidan being so selfless.  Although I have not done his romance that is one of the things I like so much about his character.  And yes I have to agree, even as a straight male, his voice is very pleasing to listen to.

For my Shep it's always been Liara.  I really like how her character's inner strength grows throughout the series from a shy, awkward scientist to a hard, no-nonsense information broker and then finally to a mixture of the two at the end.  Her firece loyalty to Shepard is also very endearing for me, though I suppose that can be said about any of the LI.  I certainly don't mind any of the other LI's, I happen really like most of them as characters in their own right (Garrus, Kaidan, Miranda and Sam in particular), but Liara just feels "right" for my Shep.

And I suppose being voiced by the absolutely lovely Ali Hillis doesn't hurt .

Funny, because the "best friends to lovers" thing was part of what I personally found appealing about the Garrus romance.

Also, I constantly don't understand the "drinking the same wine/eating the same food" argument. That has to be one of the most shallow reasons imaginable for picking a partner. It's like saying all vegetarians should marry other vegetarians.

Played my first playthrough as celibate broShep.

Second playthrough, I tried Liara in order to see Shep be happy for a change. I was a little disappointed: Liara hangs out in the Citadel and in her quarters without ever wanting to talk to you unless you're about to embark on a suicidal mission. And then, it's suddenly all about sex. Damnit, woman!

She was blue and wanted to fondle my mind when I first told her about the beacon.

I can still remember her first sentence(when you go up to the bubble):

"Can you hear me out there"

Those words are what I based our love upon.

In ME1, I picked Ashley. More or less just because I had never played a game prior to that which allowed you to romance someone, so I figured, "Ehh, why not?". Initially in ME2, I picked Tali, again, just because.

Along the way (My 3rd or 4th playthrough, I think), I began to notice Miranda. I didn't like her when I first played the game, but as soon as I took the 5 seconds needed to talk to her, I found myself enamored right from the start. Shepard has been with her ever since, and he will stay loyal.

Plus, she's voiced and modeled after Yvonne Strahovski, which is a major plus.

Tali all the way.

1. She's in your squad in all three games.
2. She's an engineer with a shotgun.
3. Great voice acting.

Funny you mention it, because I am vegetarian and somethimes it may gets on your nerves / like when you cant agree on a dinner. :D Just my personal opinion, dont take it as I am trying to anger Garrusgirls by this. But I really didnt like start up of their relationship. Of course I went for him as fast I could, but I was rather dissapointed. For me everything in the second game was rather dumbed down (fromt the story telling, to conversation and interacting). And also starting romances with only one line didnt really got me, either. It really felt like Hey Garrus lets have sex? Sure Shepard I will just want some human/turian porn to figure out what to do. It great that he took his time to do the research, but nah. I expected more to it. All best friend to partner was rather too rushed. And I am not even romantic, but writing there was lacking something. Like development. Dont worry, thats just my personal compalin with second game. Even if I romanced him, Garrus was still felt more like my best bro/brother. And somethimes thats more importand bond that romance }and I take that guy everywhere, he is basically in my permanent squad). I seriously like him more with Tali than Shepard. Dunno why. They are just working together.

Then why he keep bringing only one bottle? :)

My first LIs were in fact the VS's, I never really talked to Liara much throughout my first playthroughs.
When I actually found out where she stayed on the normandy though I talked to her a lot more and fell in love with her nerdy, bumbly character... people say she is 'too easy' but I just loved how sweet she is.
ME2 LotSB is absolutely fantastic and it only gets better with Liara as your LI and the relationship has a whole new dynamic with the Cerberus/Shadow broker affair. Her character arc is fantastic imo, easily one of, if not the best.

Kaiden. Because BW had torn away all but one of the other guys by the end of ME3.

And I couldn't get someone with an interesting personality and human good looks.

Seriously BioWare. MALE MIRANDA. Would have killed for a male Miranda. Killed Miranda herself in a heartbeat because of every time she ever opened her mouth in ME2, but I can totally see how that would be appealing to the guys who romance her. If Miranda had a Y chromosone and looked just as good as a male, I could forgive everything.

...Except snapping at Joker. Too far Cheerleader. Too far.

Well... Respectively, Thane is really hot, Garrus is a buddy, Kaidan is silly cute, and Traynor just needed hugs.

No, Traynor needed something she just wouldn't let me give her, no matter how I promised it would help :innocent:

So far in each ME I've picked the person who seemed to offer the most added content. It was Ashley in 1, Miranda in 2, and so far once with each in ME3. I usually don't switch the LI when I go back for the renegade playthrough but because Miranda dies if you LI Ash -> Miranda -> Ash, I picked her for the evil go-round.

If I do play through a third time (might as well make that a *when*) I'll probably make a femshep (for the first time!) and romance Traynor. I have to say, they're all relatively low poly models with slightly above average textures so you can see when something just doesnt look right, but Traynor.... I just haven't really been able to find anything wrong with her yet. Samara (and Ashley's *new*) jawline are too masculine and blocky, wtf happened to Miranda's hair between ME2 and 3, and I just can't get into Liara's hair tentacles. Sorry, make that "semi-flexibile cartilage-based scalp crests". She's still only a model in a game, but for the first time, it's a shame :D Oh, and the voice is lovely as well of course.

Sorry if the last paragragh sounds sexist or piggish or anything negative... I just had to work the hair tentacles in there somehow :P

Well other than the obvious jaw dropping and drooling my Shep did when he made his entrance on Illium, there are other reasons she chose Thane. He had an air of confidence within him and while he shared his life story about how he became an assassin, what happened to his wife, and how he abandoned his son, there was not a point when I considered him to be whining or expecting a pity party to be held in his honor. He was matter of fact about it, this is me, this is my life either you like it or you don't. He didn't fall at my Shep's feet and start kissing her arse, she has Conrad Verner for that, didn't want or need it in an LI.

His maturity which came with his life experience and his own mortality. My Shep is also in no mood for games or being played with. He knew love, how to love, and had lost it. It rocked him enough to shut himself down for years, so when he opened up and told Shep he cared for her and then loved her, she knew he meant it.

Ashley. Because I don't want blind devotion. I want to have a trust and love that is earned, not handed out like a free ****** at lunchtime.

Also, the poetry, the Marksman ability, the Arkham Asylum flashbacks and Dat Ash.

First, I am a PS3 player so no ME1 for me...

1.  No one - screwed up my dialogue options (first time through...oh well)
2.  Thane - THE VOICE!  Also, I liked his backstory and his philosophy...also HIS VOICE!
3.  Kaidan - This was the continuation of my first playthrough Shep where I had no romance in ME2 because I screwed up...so Kaidan was my only choice.  Why did Bioware do that???  I guess he was okay, but...

Also she started as a close friend, then the relationship matured into something else.
Her parts made the ME series for me. Very well done in every aspect,Good Job.
Also sticks with you through it all. Very Loyal to Shepard. More accepting and understanding of Shepard. Works in a mutual benefiting way. Her needs and Your needs are now our needs. From the moment I met her and the confirmation kill of Fist,I knew Tali would be one of my favorites, and Bioware never let me down. An in-game face along with the photo would have been nice, and a better scene at the end with her would have also been nice, but amazing work by the Bioware staff and Liz IMO. Sorry.

I romanced Kaidan and Thane.

Kaidan in ME1 because he was sweet, normal, and fun to talk to. His voice was quite attractive as well. In ME3 because, well, I didn't have any other option. Kaidan wasn't the same in ME3 as he was in ME1, he was much more immature in ME3 and Horizon really turned me off.

Thane was my favorite, he was very mature, relaxing, and I just loved his dry humor. He was continually mature through ME2 and ME3, even if most of his personality didn't completely translate to ME3. I felt like I actually made progress with him and the relationship as well. His voice was extremely attractive as well haha.

Kaidan.
for his voice, Intergaty and the fact that he is a good guy. not dying, not "hey let's have sex", he doesn't stalk or grow werdily obbisive. doesn't dump you and get another girl preggers [ damn Jacob, Kaidan held out for 3 years and you couldn't wait 6 months]
Just a good guy intent on doing his job.

and his war ASSiets...

Kaidan. Always Kaidan. Most of the others have said why - he's mature, he's sensitive, he's not a stalker, and he's faithful. Also, he's got a voice to die for. I love the fact that he doesn't just blindly trust Shepard after ME2 - even if Horizon was one of the most painful scenes in the game - but he does come around. The only other possible romance that could come close would be Thane, and unless they fix what happened in ME3, I just can't bring myself to romance him again.

Javik, because he's just amazing. And an Emperor, to boot.

Wait, what's that? Javik's not an LI in your game? Yeah well that's what you get when you buy the primitive edition, space-pleb.
